3 Different by design At Össur, we do things differently. The RHEO KNEE design is unique in the MPK market, in that its operating principle is not based on hydraulic technology. Instead it is operated by what could be described as an electronic brake whereby resistance is continually adapted to the user s needs and situation. This technology is termed Magnetorheologic which is highly responsive and proven technology, pioneered by the aerospace, defense and automotive industries. It utilises electromagnetic forces to rapidly alter the viscosity of the magnetic fluid in the knee. This allows an almost instantaneous shift from the high resistance required for stability in stance phase to the low resistance needed for a dynamic, free swing phase, simulating the natural function of the physiological knee joint. Clinical evidence conducted with the RHEO KNEE compared to previous versions and to hydraulic MPKs, showed significant improvements in users ability to walk further, faster, with less exertion. This, combined with a more natural center of pressure helps reduce sound side impact by 11%, and knee varus moment of 15%, helping to tackle the principle causes of Osteoarthritis. 7 THE APP More convenient than ever Össur Logic Both RHEO KNEE 3 and RHEO KNEE XC come with software that enable clinicians to adjust functionality to suit the users needs. The additional User App enables users to monitor step count and battery status. Össur Logic is available for ios devices (ios 8 or later) and communicates wirelessly with the knees via Bluetooth.
