Continue along High Hunsley Circuit to Welton Dale then onto Welton. Head west out of Welton to Brough to Blackies Club and the end of the morning walk. Afternoon: In the afternoon we take road SE to Great Wold Plantation and continue to Humber bridge Visitors Centre. Finally cross the Humber Bridge to Barton Upon Humber on the South Bank.
2 February 18 th Wetherby - Thorpe Arch - Tadcaster Leaders: Group A; Len Group B; Bob Morning: walk: Start Wetherby Services Grid ref , walk to Thorpe Arch then to historical Boston Spa. Continue along Ebor Way to the Roman settlement of Newton Kyme, St Andrews Church and Newton Kyme Hall. Follow the River Wharfe to Tadcaster, home to Sam Smiths Brewery. Here you can sample what Sam Smith has to offer. Afternoon walk: Roughly circular route exploring Tadcaster s history. March 18 th Ambler Thorne Shibden Brookfoot - Halifax Leaders Group A; Viv Group B; Kev C. Group A Paul and Colette Group B; Jane Morning: Start, Group A, Ambler Thorne, Grid reference SK604758, Group B at Catherine Slack. Both groups go downhill into beautiful Shibden Valley, passing Shibden Mill Inn. We stop for coffee and toilets at Shibden Park. There is a bit of a climb out of Shibden Park by way of Magna Via, a scheduled ancient monument, then downhill to liquid refreshments at The Red Rooster, Brookfoot. Afternoon walk. Broadly follow Elland Wood Bottom in a westerly direction to one of Halifax s oldest pubs, the Shears Inn. April 15 th Summerbridge - Brimham Rocks Nidderdale Walk Leaders Group A John Group B Ken Morning: Start Summerbridge, OS grid reference SE , Head south along River Nidd to Dacre Banks. Pick up Nidderdale Way west to Hayshaw and then north to mast at Abraham Crags. Carry on north down to River Nidd in Glasshouses and follow river east to Knox Hall. Head north to Smelthouses and east to Brimham Rocks. Turn south to pub at Low Laithe via High Wood and Low Wood House. In the afternoon we walk from Low Laithe to Summerbridge via Braisty Woods.
3 May 20 th Swinthwaite West Witton Wensley Walk leaders Group A Phil Group B Bev Morning: Start Swinthwaite, OS grid reference SE Head south west up lane, and pick up footpath west to Knights Templar Preceptory (remains). Continue south west to Morpeth Gate Track and footpath through wood to back of West Burton and waterfall. Pass through the village and cross B6160 to footpath leading to Eshington Bridge, then over the hill to Aysgarth. Take footpath east to Yore Bridge and High Force Waterfall, before climbing steps to church yard and east to the south bank of the River Ure passing Lower Force Waterfall on the way to Hestholme Bridge. Follow river to Redmire Force Waterfall and continue on to Wanlass Park. Now head south up Flats Lane to West Witton, pub and lunch. Afternoon: Take Back Lane to Lords Bridge and continue east along south bank of the River Ure to Wensley Bridge. Cross bridge into Wensley and await pick up at entrance to Wensley Hall (across the road from the Three Horseshoes). June 17th Caister Tealby Ludford (Viking Way) Walk Leader Group A Ash Walk assistants Alan and Sandra Morning: Start, Caister Market Square, OS Grid Reference TA1101. Head south-west on the Viking Way towards the picturesque village of Nettleton. Continue south towards Normanby-on-the-Wold passing Normanby Top the highest point in Lincolnshire. We stop for a well earned break in Normanby. Head south-east towards Walesby and then on to Tealby for our Pub stop, The Kings Head. Tea rooms are available in the village for our non drinkers. Look out for Tealby church - the poet Lord Tennyson s family have strong links to the village. His brother Charles was once rector here. Afternoon walk: From Tealby we head south east dropping down from the Wolds to the village of Ludford. A pub stop is available at the White Hart Pub should time prevail.
4 July 15th Thirkleby Kilburn Byland Abbey Walk leaders Group A Phil Group B Bev Morning: Start Arden Bridge, OS grid reference SE , head north,pass through Thirkleby and pick up footpath to Balk and Sutton-Under-Whitestonecliffe. At Sutton, follow A170 east through village to bridleway and footpath leading to Gormire Lake. Go up through Garbutt Wood join the Cleveland Way south and turn east through Cliff Plantation to the Visitors Centre (Coffee and Toilets). Head back to the Cleveland Way and head south to the White Horse Figure. Drop down to Car Park and head through woods to Bridleway and footpath past Acre House and into Kilburn, pub and lunch Afternoon. Head out of Kilburn south east through High Kilburn, Beckside Farm and Oldstead Grange to Byland Abbey to await pick up. August 12th Ilkley Carr - Burley Woodhead Ilkey Walk leaders Group A John Group B Ken Morning: Start at Ilkley Coach Park, OS Grid reference SE Head south along Wells Road, onto Ilkely Moor. Turn west, then south again past Rombalds Moor to Buck Stones. Turn east past wireless masts to Twelve Apostles stone circle and Burley Moor. Follow the Millennium Way to Dales Way and pub on Moors Road, Burley Woodhead. Afternoon: Take path to York View and onto Dales Way/Ebor Way to Cow and Calf Rocks and then to Ilkley Wetherspoons The Lister Arms near to car/coach park.
5 September 9 th Longshaw Lodge Eyam Grindleford Walk leaders Group A Carol Hall Sue Walk Morning: Start Longshaw Lodge, postcode, S11 7TZ. From Longshaw Lodge along White Edge to Wellington s monument. Continue down into Curbar, along the river and up by the Riley Graves to Eyam. The B Group take the same route as above but take a short cut along the broken road into Eyam. The pub stop is the Miners Arms Afternoon. From Eyam via Stoney Middleton to Grindleford October 7 th Walk leaders Group A Ash Alan Walk route Morning: Start at the Market Square, Crich Village, Grid Reference 3554, head North-West up towards Crich Stand, the iconic memorial monument to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. (Small charge payable to take in stunning views from the monument platform). We then continue North West through to the village of Dethick and Holloway where we take a break. After elevenses we push on North to our lunch destination of Tansley. Afternoon: We head west out of Tansley, through to the village of Starkholmes and over the Derwent river into Matlock Bath for a Drink in the Boat Inn if time provides.
6 November 4 th Leader Thorpe Milldale Biggin Hartington Ash Alan Walk Morning. Start at Thorpe Village, OS Grid Reference SK We head North West through the picturesque Dove Dale. After elevenses at Mill Dale we push on north through Biggin Dale. Carrying on through the dale winding north east through one of the Jewels of the white peak we make our lunch destination of Biggin Village and the Waterloo Inn. Afternoon. From Biggin we head north west through Heathcote village. We then drop westward in too the village of Hartington for our final destination of the day. December 2 Flamborough - Bridlington Leaders Group A: Nigel Group B Ken Morning: Start at Flamborough. Take coastal path south round Flamborough Head and past South Landing. Continue along the cliff path until reaching Bridlington, then go to the pub for Christmas festivities. December 30 Clumber Park Creswell Crags Nether Langwith Scarcliffe Leaders Group A Viv Wilde Group B Ash Michelle Lawton, Kevin Morning. A and B Group start near Trumans Lodge entrance to Clumber Park, OS Grid reference SK Turn away from the park. After a short distance turn left onto footpath, Robin Hood Way. Continue for 5 miles, past Welbeck Abbey and onto Creswell Crags, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where we have a leisurely stop. Within the visitor centre there is an exhibition (small charge) toilets and a café. Walk through Creswell Crags. At the end of the lake turn left, go up the hill and follow the path, past Holbeck Church. Take next right, onto tarmacked road then follow footpath to Nether Langwith and pub. Afternoon. The plan is to walk south west towards Upper Langwith, then follow the Archaeological Way through Langwith Woods to The Horse and Groom at Scarcliffe.
