Meet: Buriton, Kiln Lane, Halls Hill Car Park SU (nearest post-code GU31 5SL) By Car: Either: get to Buriton via A286/B2141/B2146 or A3/Petersfield/Buriton exit. Go up Kiln Lane opposite the excellent Maple Inn. Or: if you like country lanes go via Finchdean and New Barn Lane until you reach the South Downs Way. Monday 10 th February 10.30am SALTHILL PARK L: Eric BM: Jan C 3 miles. Flat, no stiles. Mainly paved surface, one short section of field footpath that may be very muddy in places. Approx. 1¾ hours. Meet: At the Tesco car park near entrance to the store. By Car: A27 Fishbourne roundabout take the A259 turning into Chichester. Left turn into Tesco. By Bus: Free bus from West Street, Chichester, to Tesco. Tuesday 11 th February 10.30am *New Walk* SELSEY, CHURCH NORTON L:Andrew BM: TBC 4.5 mile walk along shoreline paths and shingle bank to site of Saxon Cathedral and Norman castle; no stiles; muddy. Meet: Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve Visitor Centre car park (SZ856966) By Car: B2145 through Hunston and Sidlesham, then turn left into the Reserve. Wednesday 12 th February 10.30am LITTLEHAMPTON SEAFRONT 2 miles. Arun Yacht Club, along the riverbank and Rope Walk, crossing the foot bridge then following the riverbank to its mouth, returning along the front towards Rustington, returning a similar way. All surfaced walks. Meet: Arun Yacht Club. Your support to the club in buying refreshments is appreciated in return for free parking. By Car: Take the A259, Bognor Littlehampton Road. About ¼ mile East of Ford Road roundabout turn south into Ferry Road. Follow signs for beach and Golf Course onto Rope Walk. The Yacht Club is on the west bank of the river opposite the Golf Club at the top of the slope. By Bus/Train: Across the footbridge opposite Littlehampton station. Turn left, the Yacht Club is about 1/3 of a mile ahead. Monday 17 th February 10.30am TILLINGTON L: Gerald BM: TBC 3 miles. Easy. Come and enjoy a beautiful Weald walk close to Petworth Park. The terrain is gentle with views of the South Downs, with no stiles. Meet: The Horse Guards Inn, Upperton Road, Tillington, GU28 9AF. Meet: Alongside the River Lavant in West Dean village. (GR: ) By Car: North along A286 from Chichester to West Dean; turn right at `The Dean. Wed 19th February am *New Walk* BIGNOR HILL TOP - GUMBER L: Bruce BM: TBC Moderately strenuous 2 hour, 4.5 mile walk from Bignor Hill taking in Stane Street, Gumber and Monarch's Way. Meet: Bignor Hill Car Park SU (Nearest postcode RH20 1PR) By Car: Take the A29 to Bury. At the bottom of Bury Hill, take the turning (westwards) signposted for West Burton and Bignor. Bignor Roman Villa is also signposted with brown tourism signage (2 miles). Go past Bignor Roman Villa and after 300 metres turn left at Jays Farm up a steep hill to the top. There are 3 steep-ish climbs and the walk does include stiles. Meet: At the junction of the B2146 and the Walderton Stoughton Road where parking is available on the grass verge by the River Ems. By Car: Take the B2178 from Chichester, turning right at Funtington into Hares Lane and right again on to the B2146. Sunday 23 rd February 10.30am WALBERTON TO BINSTED 2 ¾ miles, mainly flat headland path, grass, gravel. Meet: Walberton Village Hall car park, The Street, Walberton, Arundel, BN18 0PQ. By Car: When heading from Chichester to Arundel on the A27 follow signs to Walberton Village and meet in the Village Hall car park. Monday 24 th February 10.30am BOATYARD TO BOATYARD L: Anne A BM: Eric 4 miles, flat but could be muddy. 2 stiles. Meet: Emsworth Town Square. Park in public car park (pay & display) by information board. By Car: A259 Chichester to Emsworth. At roundabout, left into town centre, town square is on right hand side. Tuesday 25 th February 10.30am *New Walk* SELSEY, MEDMERRY L: Andrew BM: Bruce 4.5 miles around golf course, caravan parks and the Medmerry Coastal Realignment Scheme; one stile; muddy. Meet: Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve Visitor Centre car park (SZ856966) By Car: B2145 south through Sidlesham, then left into the Reserve. Thursday 27 th February 10.30am HUNSTON CIRCULAR L: Jane BM: Ann F Approx. 4 miles. A flat walk with stiles. Includes some lane walking. Meet: Canal car park at Hunston on the B2145. For alternative parking turn left at the new roundabout on to the new road and there is another car park on the right. By Car: Take the B2145 south from the A27 and the Canal car park is on the right hand side of the road at the start of Hunston village. Generally flat, gravel path. Some muddy areas and short inclines. Meet: National Trust Car Park, Dukes Road, Slindon. By Car: East along A27 to Fontwell racecourse roundabout about 400m from roundabout on the left is Dukes Road. Park in the National Park car park at the bottom of the dip on the right. Monday 10 th March 10.30am SLINDON VILLAGE L: Eric BM: Janet H 3½ miles. A gentle climb through woods & village, then level & downhill. 1 stile, very good paths. Meet: National Trust Car Park, Park Lane, Slindon, BN18. By Car: Take A27 eastward from Chichester. At Fontwell roundabout continue on A27 until you reach the next roundabout (¼ mile approx). At this roundabout take first left (A29 Pulborough/Amberley) and immediately turn left into Park Lane. Car park is ¾ mile on the left. Meet: at entrance to St. Mary s Church, North Marden (807162), at end of lane. By Car: A286 to Lavant, B2141 to Chilgrove; after two miles, left to North Marden. Thursday 13 th March 10.30am STANE STREET/EARTHAM WOODS L: Peter Br M: TBC 4.5 mile (2 hour) walk through Eartham Woods and back along Stane Street Roman Road. One steady climb but no stiles or public roads. Meet: Free Forestry Commission car park on the right, ¾ of a mile north of The George PH at Eartham. MAP REF SU By Car: Take A27 Chichester bypass towards Arundel. Half a mile before Fontwell turn left following signs to Eartham, after Z bend pass The George PH and continue north to Forestry Commission car park. Alternatively take the A285 Petworth road from Chichester take the 2nd right hand turn to Eartham and the cark park is on the left of the road. By Car: From Chichester city centre, go south along Basin Road to Canal Wharf. Limited parking. Plenty of public car parks available in the city centre. Monday 17 TH March 10.30am BRANDYHOLE COPSE TO WEST LAVANT L: Eric BM: Janet K 3 ½ miles good paths throughout. Ideal for beginners. Some steps and undulations in Copse. Meet: At the junction of The Avenue & The Drive in Summersdale. SU (Nearest postcode PO19 5QB). By Car: Leave Chichester on the B2178 to Funtington. Approx. ¼ mile after de-restriction sign, turn right into Brandyhole Lane. Parking immediately in layby on left hand side. N.B. Might be horses roaming in one of the fields. Tuesday 18 th March 10.30am LAVINGTON COMMON WOODS AND HEATHS L: Fiona BM:TBC A lovely route through our wooded heathland landscape. Approx 4 miles with a few stiles and probably some mud. Meet: Lavington Common car park. By Car: Follow the road to Petworth and after Duncton take the left turn signposted Graffham. Continue along until you see the car park on your right hand side. Meet: Cocking South Downs Way Car Park SU (Nearest postcode GU29 0HS) By Car: Cocking Hill Car Park is on the A286, between Chichester and Midhurst, 4 miles north of Singleton village and 1 mile south of Cocking village. Car drivers could park at West Dean and take the 60 bus to the start point. By Bus: No 60 between Bognor Regis, Chichester, Midhurst and Haslemere (every 30 min). Cocking Hill bus stop right next to car park. By Car: If driving from Midhurst it s on your right had side shortly before the A272/A285 roundabout. Friday 21 st March 10.30am *New Walk* BIGNOR HILL, SOUTH DOWNS WAY L: Andrew BM: TBC 3 miles along the South Downs Way and Monarch s Way. Meet: Bignor Hill National Trust Car Park (SU974129) up alpine, potholed road. By Car: A27 east, A29 down Bury Hill, left through West Burton to Bignor Village, then south for one mile up steep, narrow, unmade road to car park. Saturday 22 nd March 10.30am WHITEWAYS CIRCULAR Walk along Monarch Way approx. 3 ½ miles Meet: Whiteways car park on A29. By Car: The car park is at the junction of the A29, A284 and B2139. Monday 24 th March 10.30am EMSWORTH TO LANGSTONE L: Anne A BM: Eric 4 miles, level walk along the foreshore to Langstone returning via the fields and Warblington church. Possible refreshment break at The Ship, Langstone. Meet: Town square, Emsworth. By Car: Take the A259 from Chichester to Emsworth. At the roundabout turn left into the town centre, the town square is on the right hand side. Car park though town on the right. Note: You may need to pay for more than 2 hours parking. Tuesday 25 th March 10.30am EASTHEAD CIRCULAR via Berry Barn Lane 3½ miles. Level & flat, some on dunes at East Head. Could be muddy if wet. Meet: Meet outside the Old House at Home pub, PO20 8AD. By Car: From Chichester follow A286, at Birdham roundabout turn right on to B2179 towards West Wittering. Park on road where allowed or in side street as most of main road is now No Parking. Meet: The public car park behind the George and Dragon Public House in Burpham Village. By Car: Travelling east out of Arundel, take the first turning left after the railway bridge and follow the signs to Burpham village. The car park is accessed behind the pub. Friday 28 th March 10.30am ARUNDEL TO BLACK RABBIT L: Janet H BM: Ann F 3 mile circular walk. Easy, flat riverside walk, no stiles. Meet: Mill road car park by the river in town centre (pay and display). By Car: A27 to Arundel town centre. At the bottom of the hill turn left at mini roundabout before the river. Bring bus pass or money. Meet: Birdham Church. By Car: A286 from Chichester to Birdham. After village sign (and 40mph) take first right Church Lane continue to Church then turn left on lane next to church and park at side of that lane. By Bus: 52 or 53 to Church Lane, walk down lane to meet behind Church. Thursday 3 rd April 10.30am HEYSHOTT COMMON L: Bruce BM: Janet K 4 miles. 2 hours. Moderately flat walk. Might be muddy. Meet: Heyshott Village Hall SU ( Nearest postcode GU29 0DL ) By Car: From Chichester take the A286 to Cocking. After 1 mile turn right into Bex Lane (signposted Heyshott, Graffham). Turn right at crossroads after 1 mile. Friday 4 th April 10.30am IPING AND STEDHAM L: Jane BM: TBC 4 miles. This walk includes Iping and Stedham Common and returns close to the River Rother. It includes crossing the A272 and a little lane walking. Some slight uphill and includes stiles. Meet: Iping Common car park SU By Car: A286 to Midhurst, at mini roundabout in the town, turn left onto A272 towards Petersfield. After 2 miles turn left into Elsted Road (signposted Elsted/Harting) and the car park is on the right hand side. By Bus: 92 from Midhurst Bus Station to Elsted Road. Monday 7 th April 10.30am ROWLANDS CASTLE L: Anne A BM: Ann F 4 Miles. Hilly with some stiles. Not suitable for beginners. Meet: Recreation Ground off Links Lane By Car: Take the A27 west from Chichester towards Havant and take the exit towards Langstone. At the roundabout take the third exit onto Park Road south B2149, go through two roundabouts. At the next roundabout take the second exit onto Redhill Road. Turn left towards Links Lane and turn left at Links Lane. Turn right to Recreation Ground opposite Village Hall. PO9 6AQ. Tuesday 8 th April 10.30am STANSTED 4½ miles. Some gentle ascents, muddy when wet. Meet: Stansted Garden Centre Car Park. Stansted Park, Rowlands Castle. PO9 6DX. By Car: Take the A2178 west from Chichester passing through Funtington & Aldsworth, turn right at the sign to Stansted House, then right again through the gatehouse into Stansted Park. Turn right at the signpost to the Garden Centre and park in car park. Wednesday 9 th April 10.30am SUMMERSDALE AND BRANDY HOLE COPSE L: Andrew BM: all 3 miles around this Edwardian planned estate, and Brandy Hole Copse Meet: at the junction of The Avenue and The Drive in Summersdale (SU862069) By Car: A286 north out of Chichester, turn right into the Avenue; roadside parking; or no.60 bus to Midhurst.
7 Thursday 10 th April 10.30am PAGHAM TO SIDLESHAM L: Jane BM: TBC 4 ½ miles. This is a circular walk taking in parts of Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and the village of Sidlesham, returning through the fields. 4½ miles. A flat walk but includes several stiles and can be slippery. Meet: At the harbour end of Church Lane - where the road ends. By Car: B2145 from Chichester bypass, left on to the B2166 Pagham Road. At the bottom of Pagham Road go round the bend by Church Farm into Church Lane, where you should find sufficient parking in the lane - either near the church or towards the end of the lane. (Don't use the church car park). By Bus: No 60 bus (every 15 mins) from Chichester stops on the corner of Pagham Road. Friday 11 th April 10.30am MARINA TO DELL QUAY L: Janet H BM: TBC 3½ - 4 mile flat walk, can be muddy. Meet: Park at Chichester Marina car park (free). PO20 7EJ. By Car: A286 south from Chichester towards Birdham. Turn right at sign to Chichester Marina. Park in the public car park on the right (can be muddy). By Bus: 52/53 (circuit from Chichester) get off at the Marina bus stop, then walk down to the public car park. Monday 14 th April 10.30am ITCHENOR COASTAL WALK L: Eric BM: Jan C 4 miles. Easy and flat, 2 stiles, some road walking. Muddy when wet. Approx 2 hours. Meet: In public car park (charge) or on road, not in pub car park By Car: A286 Chichester to Birdham. At the end of the Birdham Straight take the right fork at the roundabout on to the B2179. Turn right shortly afterwards towards Itchenor and continue on to the village. Tuesday 15 th April 10.30am HUNSTON FISHER via Brimfast L: John M: Judy Approx. 4 and a half miles. Can be very muddy if wet. Flat, one stile. Meet: Hunston Village Hall on the right hand side facing recreation park, By Car: B2145 towards Selsey from Chichester, park at car park behind Village Hall (follow signs) or at side of road (where allowed!) By Bus: No. 51. Get off at Hunston Village Hall. Tuesday 15 th April 10.30am *New Walk* WOOLBEDING (a different perspective) L: Fiona BM: Peter Br Discover another side to Woolbeding on this exploratory walk near Redford village. I haven t walked the route yet but it will include some steep bits and probably some wet bits and is likely to involve walking up Older Hill. But lovely scenery and quality habitat! Should take hours. No stiles. Meet: Car park By Car: Take the Woolbeding turning off the A272 from Midhurst heading towards Rogate. Follow the road and bear left up the hill towards Redford. Go past the Older Hill sign and continue a short way until you see the car park on your left hand side. Some stiles but apart from one short climb most of the walk is mainly on the flat. Meet: Bignor Roman Villa (parking by kind permission of Bignor Roman Villa) By Car: take the A29 to Bury. At the bottom of Bury Hill take the turning (westwards) signposted for West Burton and Bignor. Bignor Roman Villa is also signposted with brown tourism signage (2 miles). Follow the lane and signs through West Burton, Bignor Roman Villa is on the right before reaching Bignor village. Thursday 17 th April 10.30am ELSTED L: Bruce BM: TBC Moderately strenuous 4 miles. 1 hour 45 minutes. Some steep climbs and two or three stiles. Might be muddy. Meet: Elsted Church SU ( Nearest postcode GU29 0JY ) By Car: From Midhurst, at the mini-roundabout, take the A272 exit towards Petersfield. After 2 miles turn left into Elsted Rd. Elsted is a further 3 miles on. In the village, after the Three Horseshoes Pub, look for sign to the Church (not the rec).

By Car: A286 to Mid Lavant, turn left on to Down Road for 2 miles (NOT Church park). No bus but call Peter on from Emsworth. Sunday 20 th April 10.30am BURPHAM HIGH WALK Approx. 4 miles. Hilly walk with some stiles. Lovely views. Meet: The public car park behind the George and Dragon Public House in Burpham Village. If weather inclement, or paths extremely muddy, a shorter and drier underfoot walk of 2 ½ miles could be substituted. Meet: Meet at Bosham Inn on A259. PO18 8PW Why not have lunch or a coffee afterwards as a thank you for the use of the parking. By Car: Take the A259 Fishbourne Road from Chichester. Continue to follow A259, go through one roundabout and the Bosham Inn will be on the right. By Bus: Bus 700 from Chichester (central). Tuesday 22 nd April 10.30am BIRDHAM TO ITCHENOR 4 miles, flat, no stiles. Can be muddy if wet. Meet: Birdham Church. PO20 7HG. By Car: Take the A286 Chichester to Birdham. Approx 100 metres past Birdham village sign (& 40mph sign), turn right into Church Lane. Follow road and turn left at the church to park on the hard standing at side of road. By Bus: 52/53 to Church Lane, Birdham (Church Lane) bus stop and walk down Church Lane. Meet: At the harbour end of Church Lane where the road ends. By Car: Follow the B2166 to Pagham, continue past Church Farm into Church Lane and follow the road to the end (do not use the church car park). By Bus: No 60 from Chichester (every 15 mins) stops on the corner of Pagham Road and Sea Lane. Friday 25 th April 10.30am SLINDON L: Janet BM: TBC 3½ miles. A walk through woods and up onto the downs. Walking back through the village. Meet: National Trust car park, Park Lane, Slindon. By Car: Take A27 Eastward from Chichester.
