2 PAGE 2 HOOKS MEDIA INFORMATION THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 2013 MIDLAND HEIDENREICH TO FOLLOW: RHP Matt Heidenreich is slated to follow Alaniz on the mound this evening. Heidenreich is 1-2 with a ERA in 4 appearances. He has struck out 2 and walked 9 in 11.1 innings while the opposition features a.420 batting average. Heidenrech, who has allowed 4 home runs in his last 2 outings, was roughed up for 4 runs on 8 hits Sunday against Frisco in a losing effort. A two-run home run by Jared Hoying in the fifth was the big blow. He did not walk a batter and struck out 5. Tulsa slugged 3 long balls in his outing April 16 at ONEOK Field, the first was a three-run shot by 9-hole hitter Joey Wong. Heidenreich faced the Drillers April 7 at Whataburger Field and earned the W, tossing 3.0 innings of shutout relief. Originally selected by the White Sox in the fourth round of the 2009 draft, Heidenreich was traded to Houston last July as part of the Brett Myers deal. The 22-year-old right-hander went 12-5 with a 3.95 ERA in 25 starts (26 G) for Winston Salem, Birmingham and Corpus Christi. He was named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for June 25 to July 2 after going 2-0 with 1 earned run allowed over 16.0 innings, including a complete game shutout. A CL Mid Season All-Star, Heidenreich was promoted to the Barons on Independence Day and yielded 2 runs, 1 earned, over 8.0 frames in his debut. He then scuffled in his next two starts, surrendering 11 earned runs over 10.1 innings. Heidenreich made his Hooks debut on July 26 at San Antonio, holding the Missions to an earned run over 8 frames for the victory. He last 6 innings just once the rest of the way. Overall for Corpus Christi, Heidenreich went 3-1 with a 3.93 ERA in 7 starts (8 G), striking out 26 while walking 7 in 34.1 innings. WATES ON DL: OF Austin Wates, who has been out of the lineup for the first 3 games of this series, joins OF Domingo Santana on Corpus Christi s disabled list. Both have been sidelined due to hamstring injuries. Wates is currently batting.317 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run and 4 RBIs in 16 games. The former Texas League All-Star has walked 11 times against 11 strikeouts, fashioning an OBP of.438, which ranks 4th in the league. Wates is also tied for 2nd in steals (9) and triples and slots 10th in batting average. His move to the DL is backdated to yesterday. Santana, batting.231 with 4 doubles, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs, is expected to be activated during the series in Frisco. The Hooks active roster is currently at 24, 1 under the Texas League limit. MORE ON WOJO: Anthony Aliotti s sacrifice fly in the third last night ended Asher Wojciechowski s scoreless-innings streak at 33. The remarkable run extended all the way to the 4th inning August 20, 2012 at Springfield. Wojo still leads the Texas League with a 0.78 ERA. He also ranks tied for 2nd in the circuit in strikeouts (25), innings pitched (23.0), third in batting average against (.169) and fourth in WHIP (0.83). The reiging Texas League Pitcher of the Week struck out 36 against 8 walks during this stretch: DATE OPPONENT W-L-S INNINGS R H SO BB ND /26/12 vs. San Antonio W San Antonio ND /06/13 vs. Springfield W Springfield S Tulsa ND /20/13 vs. Frisco W Midland ND It is the longest streak in Corpus Christi Hooks history, surpassing the 26.0 consecutive scoreless frames that Chance Douglass posted from May 18-June 5, The Texas League record is 42 by Tom Gorman of Beaumont in The New York native logged 8 seasons in the big leagues with the Yankees and Kansas City Athletics. Orel Hershiser holds the Major League mark, hurling 59 consecutive shutout innings from August 30 to September 28, FRIENDLY FIRE: Former Hook Jake Goebbert continues to swing a hot stick against his old teammates. Last night, he went 2 -for-3 with an RBI, 2 walks (1 IBB) and a stolen base. Goebbert is 6-for-9 (.667) during this series with 3 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored and 2 walks. He enters play tonight with a 10-game hitting streak. Goebbert, a Corpus Christi fan favorite who was traded to Oakland earlier this month for lefty reliever Travis Blackley, is hitting.328 with 9 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 3 steals in 16 games for the Hounds. The 13th-round pick in 2009 out of Northwestern hit a combined.291 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs in 130 games with Oklahoma City and Corpus Christi last season. Goebbert ranked among Texas League leaders in batting average (.304, 4th) and on-base percentage (.399, 4th). He was named TL Co-Player of the Week for April 5-16 (with Brandon Barnes), hitting.375 (12-for-32) with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. Goebbert reached base safely in 22 straight road games from May 3-July 17, hitting.297 (22-for-74) with a.436 OBP. The 25-year-old out of Hampshire, IL, hit.305 with 103 runs, 41 doubles, 10 triples, 14 home runs and 87 RBIs over 2 seasons (189 G) with the Hooks. SEEKING SERIES W: A win tonight would stand as the 4th series victory for the Hooks in 6 tries. It would also mark a rare bright spot for the club at Citibank Ballpark which has been a house of horrors for Corpus Christi over the years. The Hooks are just (.402) lifetime in the Permian Basin. Corpus Christi notched its second winning season against the RockHounds last year. The Hooks, who went 12-4 opposite the Hounds at Whataburger Field, won 6 of 10 games here in Midland.
