New Hampshire took the opener last night 8-4. The Fisher Cats have won 10 of 17 games against the Sea Dogs thus far in their 23-game season series. ABOUT LAST NIGHT: New Hampshire took a 5-0 lead off of Sea Dogs starter Justin Haley before Portland rallied back in the bottom of the sixth with four runs off Fisher Cats starter Conner Greene. Portland sent nine men to the plate in the sixth and scored four runs on three hits, the Fisher Cats also committed one error that led to an unearned run. John Anderson and Gregory Infante held the Sea Dogs scoreless the rest of the way and allowed just one hit as the Cats added three more runs to pull away with an 8-4 victory. FAMILIAR FOE: Fisher Cats starter Casey Lawrence is facing the Sea Dogs for the fourth time this season Lawrence is 2-1 with a 4.24 ERA (8 ER/17.0 IP) versus Portland this season The righty has allowed 23 hits against the Sea Dogs while striking out 12 and walking three, the Sea Dogs are batting.315 against him He last faced Portland on July 26 th at Hadlock Field and allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits in 5.0 innings in a 7-2 Sea Dogs win. AMAZING AARON: RHP Aaron Wilkerson was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August Wilkerson went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA (1 ER/14.0 IP) in two starts on the Sea Dogs Western Division road trip Wilkerson is the first Sea Dog in 2015 to win Pitcher of the Week (four pitchers earned the honor last season) The righty leads all Red Sox minor leaguers in strikeouts with 123. REACHING BASE IS HIS THING: Sam Travis went 1-for-3 yesterday with an RBI, walk, and runs scored, and has reached base safely in 51 of 54 starts in Double-A In 120 games with Portland and High-A Salem this year, Travis is hitting a combined.303 (136-for-449) with 8 HR, 69 RBI, 29 2B, 5 3B and 17 SB His average and RBI leads all Red Sox Minor Leaguers.
