Some of you know that I have had a few health issues recently and am still not exactly sure if they are all resolved just yet. So please be patient with me getting things done they will eventually. We have been busy with 3 events close together, the test practice day and 2 comps. With a lot of angst behind the scenes trying to come to grips with the new scoring system, which needed an Excel Guru to work out. So now our scorers have had a bit of practice and with the purchase of an extra laptop, the scoring should be happening at warp-speed at our events. Mistakes were found in the programme with movements being doubled up in the master scoring sheets, it really had you scratching your head wondering what had happened. This is why some of the tests were taking so long to get done. Thank you so much for your patience waiting to pick up your test sheets. We were trying to get another test practice day organised before our Championships, but the Common is completely booked out now till Xmas, so you will all have to practice at home. I have got the Championship programme ready to go and will attach it with this newsletter for you, it will also be on Nominate for on-line entries. We have been very lucky to secure some great sponsors again this year and prize money will be up for grabs in all events as per the entry conditions. Some important info for everyone:- Do you all know about requiring PIC Numbers (Property Identification Code) from the LHPA for horses. Everyone now needs one - including the Common. Will attach all the palarva you need to read and apply for. Yes another expense. Next year there will be new Prep tests out, and yes I will attach those for you too. Just one last thing: Next years committee. There will be a few vacancies for the 2013 committee and without a committee the Club wont function, so PLEASE have think about becoming a committee member, all positions are up for grabs so you have until our AGM in February to mull it over. It is a great club but it wont run itself.

2 August Competition Report Now I have recovered after quite a few late nights/early mornings watching all the equestrian events at the Olympics, I feel that I may be able to put pen to paper reasonably coherently now. We finally were able to have dressage on a most perfect winters day. The grounds were perfect, the sun shone and the entries were many. All the arenas were full, with competition starting at 8.30am running right through to It has been a while since I have had such a big draw to organise, and was a little out of practice. Thank you to all riders whom I had to retime, for your patience and understanding. Please feel free to contact me if you have a problem with the draw, it is not set in concrete when it goes out, and if I can make the day run smoother for you please phone or me as I will do all I can to help you out. I was a competitor myself, many years ago and have had the 9am and 4pm draw, so I do understand. The new scoring system does actually work, we had a test run at our Test Practice Day and was able to debug a few things so it ran very smoothly on Sunday. We will be purchasing another laptop shortly so the results will come out twice as quick. Our stand out scores for the day were: Cathy Chittenden riding Neversfelde Springbok with a 79% in the 1A Off, I should add that the young horses in both the 1A and 1D Off all scored well into the 70 s, that is a great reflection on how the riders are training their young horses well done. Another new, young horse to the Club is Suzy Rayner and Toni Crossley s LP Vincent Van Gough, or Vinnie for short, had his first day out with 2 very impressive scores of 70% for the 1A and 1D assoc. 3 Jeff Adams (pictured above) rode the 3D Off beautifully for a 70% his young horse is certainly maturing and becoming stronger. Kim McDonald scored a 67.9% in the 4B Off and the best score of the day went to young Jess Steward riding her lovely Clydie, Willow for an 80% in the Prep 2. This is just the 2nd time Jess has been to dressage, don t kids just amaze you. She has certainly thrown a challenge out to the Williams Sisters and to everyone s adopted son Angus. Sue Berry on Rustic Valley Apollo The lowlight of the day, was the conduct of one of the Judges. A complaint has been made through our Area Rep, Robyn Targa. Rob will take this to the DNSW meeting and table it for us. Judges who conduct themselves in this manner will not be invited back to judge for us again. It is not what our sport is all about. 4 Test Practice Day Our first test practice day was held on 22nd July, with Barb Vial, Tibby Barbour and Ros Quist our Judges for the day. For an event put on with short notice it was very well attended. There were 50 tests ridden from Prep to PSG. It was great to see riders back after having a break from dressage turning up and re-establishing old friendships. With some young horses bought out for the first time to a quiet and relaxed day, was the perfect introduction to a competition life. Once again many thanks to everyone who volunteered to help on the day, just can t do it without you guys. The weather was a bit dodgy and rain coats were required kit, with a few light showers passing. Brett LeMesiurer Adrian and Jen warming up Cath and Barb From Humble Beginnings This grey TB mare didn t have the best of starts as a youngster, but Linda came to the rescue and gave her a home for life, choosing dressage as her career. We keep tabs on Rosie s progression as Jim Collin broke her in, Barb Vial helps with her education and there are several other members that have helped this girl find a wonderful life with Linda. Rosie is just 5yr old and has been campaigned lightly for the last 12 months. These photos were taken at our August competition, when Linda travelled from Bungendore to compete.

5 September Competition Report Shoalhaven Dressage Club held their September competition in wonderful spring conditions on Sunday the 16th. The fine weather saw some fantastic rides, the top score of the day went to Sue Rayner on Vincent Van Gogh, they scored % in the Assoc Prelim 1D. Other combinations to score over 70% included Olivia Goodwin on Foxground Kameo, 70% in the Prelim 1B Junior, Jeff Adams on his new young horse, Jazzpers Brush scoring % in the Assoc Prelim 1C, Alycia Targa riding Jane Bruce s CP Dresden with % in the Official Novice 2B, Joanne Simon on Ted with 72.25% in the Prep 3, Sarah Williams on Coffee Scroll of Sefton with % in the Prelim 1D Junior and Cathy Chittenden riding Neversfelde Springbok in the Official Prelim 1C. There was some very close competition in the Medium tests. In the Medium 4A Kim McDonald beat local vet Gill Rickard by less than a half a percent, in the 4C Kaleena Matthews came out on top but her score was only 0.25% above Gill Rickard who was only 0.68% above Kim McDonald. 6 Bowral DC May A lot of members were going to compete at Bowral Champs, but that weekend was the windiest we have had this year which made the trip to Bowral fraught with danger from downed branches and trees across the roads. Those who did venture to the highlands were Jayne Unterweger riding Mika, Jayne s results: 1st in the 1D Off Pony and 2nd in the 1C Off Pony. Robyn Targa ventured up the mountain with Neversfelde Kudu and competed in the PSG and Int I for a 3rd and 4th respectively. Jen Symes gave her young horse Aussie Hit a day out, wasn t placed but produced a couple of respectable scores. DNSW Clarendon June Clarendon competition attracted 3 members. Jane Bruce did very well on her young horse CP Dresden winning the 1D Off with a 70.45% and a 3rd in the 1C Off with 70.04%. The scores in the 1C were very close with only point 1 or 2 % separating the first 4 riders. Well done Jane. Jen Symes had Aussie Hit there, must have missed the first class but scored a good 60.46% in the 2C Off. Jim Collin had 2 rides for the day, his own horse Southerly in the Mediums scored a very respectable 67.22% and a 65.76% for a 3rd and 4th respectively in big classes. His new ride is Don Frederic, owned by Susan Elekessey from Canberra, and I think it was his first comp on this big rangy black horse, scored well in the PSG with a 62.41% SCEC June Quite a few members travelled to Albion Park to compete. It was a beautiful day, though the wind was cold. The highlights are: Cathy Chittenden won both the Off Prelim classes with 71.3% and 69.0% respectively, Graeme Swan won the Nov 2B Off with a 65.7%, Jim Collin, again another big day with 3 rides, won both Elem on JB Calliope with 65.3% and 66.1%, won both Mediums with Southerly with 67.2% and 67.3%, that's consistency for you, and the PSG on Don Frederic with 61.8%. Kim McDonald won the Adv 5B on Reveller with 62.8%. Young Angus Fripp won both the Junior Prelims with 64.0% and 65.2% and for his first time at Novice came second, well done Angus. And Victoria

7 SIEC September The Shoalhaven club was well represented at the recent state dressage championships. Robyn Targa on Neversfelde Kudu in the Prix St George and Inter 1, Gill Rickard on Grandioso and Jim Collin on Southerly in the Medium, Alycia Targa on CP Dresden and Cathy Chittenden on Neversfelde Springbok both in the Preliminary and the 5 year old young horse class, all came home with ribbons. Well done to these members and good luck to them all at the National Dressage Championships to be held in Sydney at the end of October SIEC Nationals October The Nationals will soon be here and would like to congratulate all those who have qualified to ride. We have quite a few locals competing across all levels. Megan Bryant has been accepted with Donnabella and Northern Xanthus, Robyn Targa with Neversfelde Kudu, Jim Collin riding Southerly and Lauren Ogle s mare JB Calliope, Cathy Chittenden in the young horse classes with Neversfelde Springbok, Jeff Adams with Weejazzper and Gill Rickard on Grandioso. 8 Farewell to a long time Member and Friend Amanda has left us to take up a full time job with Darley Thoroughbreds, based at Cootamundra. Amanda has been a stalwart of the Club in recent years, filling both the Secretary s Position and the VP s spot. She has been my right-hand man for all this time and will miss her very much. Great to see Tibby back on board at our last competition, just have Jane and Averill to go now, soon we hope ladies. Everyone who has a Club perpetual trophy on their sideboards, could I please get you to bring them back to the Clubhouse, or give me a ring so I can get them from you , so we can get them ready for the 2012 winners. Next year we want to do our membership on-line, through Nominate. We will need to increase our fees slightly to cover the cost of doing this. The fees will only go up $5.00, normally we put this to the AGM but as we have the membership due before February we have to do this in December. If anyone has a problem/objection please contact one of your committee members.
