At our AGM last year we announced the winners of the high point trophies and also congratulated Janet Porter as a Life Member for all of her hard work over the many years she has served on our committee. Unfortunately and sadly Janet also handed in her resignation to our committee. We take this opportunity to thank Janet for all of her dedicated work over may years to our club. On the membership form all members are asked to do a helper duty on show horse, show jumping or dressage days as we need every member to assist. If you fail to nominate for a helper duty the committee will assign a helper duty and you will be advised. All helper duties must be fulfilled and it is your responsibility to arrange a replacement if unavailable. 3 A Reminder of Show Horse Rules Amendment for this year in both Official and Encourage In 2015 to bring us in line with Perth competitions and guidelines AHA will be offering both full programs of Hunter & Hack classes, so competitors will now need to nominate which one of these classifications you are going to ride under for the year. Accordingly this will extend the AHA Horse of the Year Finals 2015 to offer Hunter finals as well. So you can no longer compete in both sections with the same horse/pony and need to choose before your first competition and not change. If you need help with understanding or determining the classification for your horse this please feel free to ask questions or it may be possible to ask our Official Judge Val Mayger on the first hack day, please let me know if this is the case and we can see what the committee can organize prior to competition commences at 9.00am. Rules for Official Events at Albany Horseman s Small ponies to be ridden by riders 17 years and under Large ponies riders any age. Large ponies can enter Childs or Open but not in both. Riders in Childs must be 17 years and under. Official classes are RAS qualifiers. In 2015 we are offering both full programmes of Hunter & Hack classes so competitors will need to nominate which classification you are going to ride under for the year. We will now also offer a Hunter section for Horse of the Year Finals as well. You no longer can compete in both sections. Lead Rein/First Ridden mounts may compete in either encourage or open with a different rider but not both rings. Rules for Encourage Events Small ponies to be ridden by riders 17 years and under. Large ponies riders any age. Lead Rein/First Ridden mounts may compete in either encourage or open with a different rider but not both rings. Maiden not to have won a first ribbon at any event. To enter Encourage is for horses/ponies that have not had more than three wins. (That includes open hacking at agricultural shows and any official events.) Correct dress ie shirt tie coat and light coloured jodphurs. Neat and tidy appearance. Plaiting is not essential but recommended. Pony club uniform maybe worn. Horses and Ponies to be ridden in a snaffle.

4 Lead rein/first Ridden Rules Lead Rein Ponies 14hh and under. Lead Rein Riders 8 years and under. Lead Rein/First ridden riders may not compete in open or encourage rings. First Ridden Riders must be 10 years or under. Handlers should be 18years or over. Classes offered are normally 3 ie Pony, Rider and Combination. Other Rules The judge and or committee have the right to amalgamate/change or split any class as they see fit. All riders regardless of age are required to wear an approved safety Helmet. No top hats allowed Riders competing in Official classes must compete in the Official Rider class. Combinations being the same horse and rider can only win the Encourage AHA Horse/Pony of the Year final once and then after is not eligible for further invitation to the encourage section finals. The horse/ rider combination may still enter the encourage/unofficial ring events and is still eligible for the AHA Encourage/unofficial Hi- Point for the year. If you own or may have acquired a horse that at some time in his life was registered with the then EFA and competed as official. Possibly it has been on an long extended holiday with a break of a number of years and/ or has recently changed hands after a period of not competing. Application may be made to the AHA Committee to have the horse downgraded to compete as an encourage mount. As this is only been implemented initiative by AHA committee, it would only apply to horses/ponies competing at our grounds and competitions. Application must be made prior to competition and be presented to a committee meeting. The application must also designate the rider for the downgrade and would be for 12months where it would then be re assessed Height Certificates must be provided if requested, if in the circumstances that measuring has been unavailable and the combination has not presented previously, please advise one of the showhorse committee prior to competition day. Horses/Ponies would then be required to be measured at the next available measuring. Albany Stockfeeds Trophy Gymkhana: A good turnout in preparation for the local Show Season made for a great day with competitors travelling some miles to once again enjoy the AHA Trophy event. Official ring Perth judges Clare Matsen and Richard Rice together with encourage local judges Kim Cawthray and Nicole Holdaway completed a great weekend and were complimentary in the turn out of the local riders and presentation of their horses/ponies. All champions received bags of Mitavite and prizes from sponsors Colin and Fiona Pither at the Albany Stockfeed Truck. And thank you very much Rustic Pics our sponsor of the Rider Classes on the day for taking photos throughout the program.. So don t forget to check those out if you hadn t already. The Horse of the Year finals are getting more professional each year with a great standard of both open and encourage ponies/horses on offer- results for the HOTY will be in the next newsletter. Thank you to all that helped out setting up over the two days to make our final event as successful as it was, marshalling cooking the sausages and making the day run smoothly. Also one last thanks to Sienna Bergersen for doing the music for the HOTY which made my job load a lot lighter.
