Midland owned a 3-0 lead until Enrique Hernandez smoked a solo shot onto the berm in left with two away in the seventh. The RockHounds got the run right back thanks to Dusty Coleman s blast off Andrew Robinson. Lefty Jeff Urlaub began the eighth and struck out two batters but two reached base courtesy of an error and pinch-hit single by Meyer. Ryan Dull came on to face Domingo Santana, who crushed an 0-1 pitch into the Hooks bullpen to tie the game. Midland pulled ahead again in the 10th via a lead-off hustling double by Jake Goebbert. Following a sac bunt, Tyler Ladendorf hit a fly ball that just landed inside the foul line in right field for a two-bagger and a 5-4 Midland advantage. Mike DeMark got a strikeout to open the 10th. Preston Tucker then smacked a double into the right-field corner and Max Stassi worked a walk, setting the stage for Meyer. Ross Seaton fashioned a quality start, spreading three runs over six innings. Jonathan Meyer s first career walk-off blast produced Corpus Christi s 3rd victory of the season when trailing after 7 innings. The Hooks also improved their record to 7-3 in extra-inning contests - tops in the Texas League. Corpus Christi scored 7 times over the final 4 frames and all of those tallies came courtesy of the long ball. The Hooks stand 4th in the minors with 126 home runs - 3 off the pace of 3rd-place Lancaster. Stockton of the California League leads the pack with 152. ALANIZ SCRATCHED: Ruben Alaniz, who was originally slated to start tonight, has been scratched due to a sore knee. Alaniz is 6-8 with a 4.53 ERA in 23 appearances (16 starts) for the Hooks. The right-hander from La Grulla has been tough of late, going 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA over 4 July starts. OVERDUE: After tearing up the Texas League for parts of 3 seasons, Jake Goebbert has been called up to Triple-A. The former Hooks is hitting.268 with 20 doubles, 18 home runs and 75 RBIs in 105 games for Midland. Goebbert leads the circuit in RBIs, ranks 2nd in total bases (190) and is tied for 2nd in extra-base hits (43).
