1 MEDIA INFORMATION Carolina Mudcats (51-50 / 15-18, T-3rd, 8.0 GB / Northern) Carolina League Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks (56-47 / 17-16, T-3rd, 2.0 GB / Northern) Carolina League Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals Game No. 104 Road Game No. 56 Five County Stadium Thursday, July 27, :00 p.m. BLUE ROCKS BREAKDOWN HOME: AWAY: STREAK: W 3 LAST 5: 3-2 LAST 10: 5-5 BRINGING OUT THE BROOMS: Early runs and great pitching led the Wilmington Blue Rocks to a 7-2 victory against the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday at Frawley Stadium. The win gave the Rocks a three-game sweep of the Red Sox, the first Blue Crew sweep of the second half and the second sweep of Salem at Frawley Stadium. Jared Ruxer pitched brilliantly, while Roman Collins and Nick Heath paced the offense with a combined five hits, three runs, and an RBI. The win moves the Rocks within two games of first-place in the Northern Division. IT S BEEN AWHILE: The series between the Blue Rocks and Mudcats marks the second and final time the two teams will play each other in the 2017 regular season. The last time these two teams met was at Frawley Stadium in a three-game series from April Carolina won the series, taking the bookend games of the set. All three games were decided by just a single tally, including the Blue Rocks win in the middle game when the Blue Rocks rallied from a 2-0 deficit and scored three unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings to earn the lone win. FAST STARTERS: The Rocks have started most games off on the right foot in July. In the 24 games played during the month, the Blue Crew has deliver first inning runs in 15 of those contests. On Wednesday, the Blue Crew scored first on a Travis Maezes sacrifice fly. In the second game on Tuesday, Wilmington struck for three runs in the opening frame on RBI hits from Wander Franco, Brandon Downes, and Colton Frabasilio. Overall, the Rocks have tallied 67 runs in the first inning, 11 more tallies than any other frame. On the flip end, the 10th-inning two-run home run by Chase Vallot during the continuation of Monday s suspended game marked the first time the Rocks have scored in the 10th inning this season. The Rocks have tallied eight runs in extra innings, giving them a 6-5 record in those games. WALKING TALL: The Rocks walked-off a winner once again in the continuation of Monday s game, although this one was unique. Chase Vallot s 10th-inning long ball was the first walk-off home run for the Blue Rocks since July 1, Ironically, on that date, Ryan Dent slugged a two-run shot to give the Rocks a 7-5 victory over the Salem Red Sox. On the season, the Rocks have walked-off eight times, and Tuesday s game marked the fifth occurrence in July. The eight walk-off wins are the franchise s most since at least ROMAN ON THE BASES: Roman Collins has been an on-base machine as of late. In his last seven games, Collins has a.500 on-base percentage. In 28 plate appearances, the second-year Blue Rock has eight hits, five walks and has been hit by a pitch as well. During the stretch, he is hitting.364. Prior to the seven-game span, Collins was hitting.219 with a.265 on-base percentage, but did drive in seven runs in his previous eight games. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Blue Rocks season series with Salem has been dominated by the home team this season. The teams are against each other this year after Wilmington earned the series sweep on Wednesday. However, the home team has won 16 of the 21 meetings between the teams. The Rocks are 10-4 against the Sox at Frawley Stadium, but have dropped six of their seven games in Salem. Overall, the Rocks are and have a.625 winning percentage at home, the best in the Carolina League. TONS OF TIGHT GAMES: The Blue Rocks have played in a Carolina League-high 38 one-run games so far in No other club in the ten-team loop has played in more than 32 single-score affairs. Incredibly for Wilmington, the Rocks are now in such contests thanks to having won 17 of their last 21. THEY SAID IT, MANAGER JAMIE QUIRK: Jared Ruxer was very good (on Wednesday). He had very good fastball command down and away, it was outstanding. He stayed in that lane really well, pitched ahead in the count, and got an early lead. Offensively we did a great job against Salem and Ruxer kept pounding and getting after it. I thought it was his best stuff of the year...(run support) always helps with a starting pitcher, you can relax a little bit. Not every pitch matters and all that. (Ruxer) settled in and to right handed batters, he was down and away and had very good control, mixed in his breaking ball nicely. I m sure the lead helped, obviously it does with any pitcher, and he was able to settle into the game and get after it...i was proud of (the offense). I was committed and told myself that Brandon Downes, Wander Franco, and Chase Vallot were going to get the day off (Wednesday). I gave other guys opportunities, moved the lineup around and they all responded. It was nice to see guys in different spots in the lineup, some new guys played as well. Travis Maezes, Jose Sanchez all started and chipped in, did a nice job. Situational hitting was very good as well. Tonight s Starters WIL: LHP Cristian Castillo (6-6, 3.39 ERA) vs. CAR: RHP Cody Ponce (7-6, 3.42 ERA) As far as fast starts to a professional career go, Cristian Castillo has to be near the top of the list inside the Kansas City Royals organization. Castillo signed as a 20-year old out of Mexico in December of 2014, and all he has done in two pro seasons is win two awards for excellence. He was named the Royals Pitcher of the Year for their Dominican Summer League in 2015 when he posted a 2.64 ERA, fanned 58 and walked only 15 in 67.1 innings worked. Last season he was even better, earning Appalachian League Pitcher of the Year honors by going 6-3 with a 3.13 ERA, 73 strikeouts and just 14 free passes in 72 frames. He led the league in innings pitched, strikeouts and WHIP, and was fourth in earned run average. Castillo enjoyed his best stretch of the season from July 29 through August 11 when he yielded just three runs and three hits total over 21 combined frames in three starts. He also appeared in three games in the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico in October. Still, the six-foot,190- pounder is not ranked among the Royals top 30 prospects by Baseball America, but he is the fifth-best southpaw staring pitcher prospect in the organization according to the publication. He impressed the Royals brass enough to jump both Rookie Idaho Falls and Low-A Lexington in 2017 to begin the season with Advanced-A Wilmington. The left-hander had a stretch where he allowed just 16 total earned runs over 12 starts. However, he has allowed 12 earned runs in his previous two trips to the mound. The CL All-Star has struggled slightly in the second half, posting a 2-3 record with a 4.54 ERA compared to his 4-3, 2.80 ERA marks prior to the All-Star break. In his last start, the lefty suffered the loss at Frederick on July 21 when he allowed five earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. This will be Castillo s second against Carolina, with his last coming back on April 11, where he allowed an unearned run, on two hits in five innings in a no decision. Righty Cody Ponce makes the start for the Mudcats tonight. A second-round pick by the Brewers in 2015 out of Cal Poly Pomona, the 6-foot-6, 265-pound hurler is rated as the 21stbest prospect in the system according to the updated MLB Pipeline ranking. Last season, the righty spent the year with the defunct Brevard County Manatees in the Florida State League where he went 2-8 with a 5.25 ERA in 17 starts. In the same sample size in terms of starts this year, Ponce has rebounded and is 7-6 with a 3.42 ERA with Carolina this year. In his last outing at Winston-Salem on July 10, he did not factor in the decision and allowed three earned runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings of work. This is his first start against Wilmington. Ponce features a fastball, cutter, curveball and changeup Regular-Season Series: WIL vs. CAR (CAR leads series 2-1) Date Site Result WP LP Save 4-10 WIL L, 2-1 Diplan (1-0) Puckett (0-1) Griep (1) 4-11 WIL W, 3-2 Machado (1-1) Harber (0-1) Marte (1) 4-12 WIL L 3-2 Torres-Costa (1-0) Terrero (0-1) Griep (2) 7-27 CAR 7-28 CAR 7-29 CAR 7-30 CAR Upcoming Probable Starters and Schedule Friday, July Carolina, 7:00 p.m. RHP A.J. The Brewers and the Atlanta Braves, who were the parent club of the Carolina Mudcats in , swapped affiliates. The Braves now have their Class-A Advanced affiliate in the Florida State League and are one of the new teams in Minor League Baseball, the Florida Fire Frogs. Prior to the Braves short tenure, the Mudcats served as the Cleveland Indians satellite from The organization has been part of the Carolina League since Skipper Joe Ayrault has stayed with the Brewers system during the affiliation switch and will be at the helm of Milwaukee s Advanced-A squad for his sixth overall season and first with the Mudcats. Starting the Milwaukee era, the Mudcats have a prospect laden roster with eight players ranked on MLB.com s Pipeline updated top 30 Brewers prospect list. Most notably, outfielder Corey Ray (#2/#69 in Top 100) who was the Brewers top pick in 2016, shortstop Isan Diaz (#6), outfielder Trent Clark (#6), and third baseman Lucas Erceg (#10) are all ranked in the top ten. Ray showed his his combination of hitting and athletic ability, and he backed up that title by hitting 15 homers with 44 steals as a junior with Louisville. The Brewers made him the fifth-overall pick in June, gave him $4,125, the largest bonus in club history -- and then sent him to the Florida State League with the now defunct Brevard County Manatees to speed up his track to the bigs. Diaz earned the Brewer s Minor League Player of the Year Award after posting a.264 batting average with 20 home runs and 75 RBI in 135 games with Low-A Wisconsin a year ago. This season, the two teams will play just two series against each other. Carolina took the first series between the two teams in Wilmington in the second week of April with all three games decided by a single run.. Last season, the two teams played five games against each other through the first month of the season and met 19 total times. The Blue Rocks took the season head-to-head match-up 11-8.

3 TONIGHT S BLUE ROCKS STARTING PITCHER #43 LHP Cristian Castillo Acquired: Signed as non-drafted free agent on December 15, 2014 by Kansas City Born: Monterrey, Mexico Age: 22 (Sept. 25, 1994) Resides: Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico Ht: 6 0 Wt: 190 Pitch Repertoire: Fastball, Changeup, Curveball, Slider THE BOOK ON CRISTIAN CASTILLO: As far as fast starts to a professional career go, Cristian Castillo has to be near the top of the list inside the Kansas City Royals organization. Still, the six-foot, 190-pounder is not ranked among the Royals top 30 prospects by Baseball America, but he is the fifth-best southpaw starting pitcher prospect in the organization according to the publication. He impressed the Royals brass enough to jump both Rookie Idaho Falls and Low-A Lexington in 2017 to begin the season with Advanced-A Wilmington. The left-hander had a stretch where he allowed just 16 total earned runs over 12 starts from May 2 to July 9. However, he has allowed 12 earned runs in his previous two trips to the mound. The CL All-Star has struggled slightly in the second half, posting a 2-3 record with a 4.54 ERA compared to his 4-3, 2.80 ERA marks prior to the All- Star break. In his last start, the lefty suffered the loss at Frederick on July 21 when he allowed five earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. This will be Castillo s second against Carolina, with his last coming back on April 11, where he allowed an unearned run, on two hits in five innings in a no decision. WORKING HARD ON REPEATING SO HE DOESN T HAVE TO REPEAT: One of Castillo s biggest priorities is consistency, both on the mound and in leading up to taking the hill. He is a meticulous preparer and has been tweaking his approach over his first three seasons. I ve worked a lot on my mechanics because I had a lot of trouble and problems with repeating my delivery, the pitcher said. I think I was so successful (last year) because (of those adjustments) so I was able to control all my pitches. PROUD OF HIS HERITAGE: Castillo has a couple pitchers he points to as inspiration. Near the top of the list is former Phillie and current Ranger Cole Hammels because of the way he goes about his business and how smooth he is. But first and foremost is Fernando Valenzuela. He s Mexican and just represented the country so well. Castillo is proud of his heritage and hopes he can represent his country as well as Valenzuela did. I am always proud to represent my country when I pitch. Here in the U.S. you face a lot of good hitters and talented players every day. But in Mexico, you need to play very well and be the best you can just to get the chance to be able to play here. CLOSE TO HIS CATCHERS: Castillo says he works well with his catchers. We talk a lot before the game to develop a plan so we can execute out on the field. I don t need to shake them off a lot, but sometimes I do and it s part of our plan. I like to work quickly as well to keep (hitters off balance). It helps a lot because you don t give hitters time to think about what pitch I am going to throw. It s all part of the big plan which you have to stick to. SO FAR, SO GOOD: Castillo has been one of the Blue Rocks most consistent starters so far this season. The left-hander has allowed just 10 total earned runs over his last eight starts. Castillo has been very good, said manager Jamie Quirk. He mixes his pitches really well and hits his spots. It is his first time at this level, and you never know how a kid will respond to that, but he s done a great job. Castillo pitches to contact, sporting a.267 batting average against, but he also seems to be at his best in the biggest moments. Opponents are hitting.231 versus the southpaw with runners in scoring position. ALL-STAR: Castillo was so good in the first half he earned an All-Star nod. He ranked fourth in the Carolina League with a 2.80 ERA, posted a 4-3 record and allowed only 22 earned runs in 70.2 innings of work in the first half. He surrendered four earned runs once just once in the opening half, and lasted five or more innings in 11 of his 13 starts. In the All-Star game he was one of four Blue Rocks pitchers to work a scoreless inning Appearances (Wilmington) The Book on Castillo (2017) At Home: 4-3, 3.38 ERA 9G/9GS On the Road: 2-3, 2.40 ERA 10G/10GS LH Opp Avg:.241 RH Opp Avg:.277 Record when he pitches: 6-6 Wilmington Record when he starts: 11-7 Run Support (overall): 57 Run Support (starting): 2.5 ERA: 3.39 Season-High K s: 6, 4x (Last: Potomac Nationals) Career-High K s: 11, (7/29/16 vs. Pulaski Yankees) Last Win: 7/9/17@ Potomac Nationals Last Loss: Frederick Keys Most IP, 2017: 8.0 IP, 2x (Last: Potomac Nationals) Most IP, Career: 9.0 IP, (7/29/16 vs. Pulaski Yankees) Career Numbers Year/Teams(s) W-L ERA IP 2015/Royals (DSL) /Burlington /Wilmington Totals Date OPP G GS DEC ERA IP H R ER BB SO HR HBP WP Score Upon Exit Result Notes 4/11/17 CAR CAR, 1-0 WIL, 3-2 First-career start at Class-A Adv POT, 4-1 WIL, 5-4 4/21/17 WS 3 3 L WS, 3-1 WS, 4-1 Suffered first loss at Class-A Adv. 4 4 L MB, 4-0 MB, 4-0 5/2/17 SAL 5 5 W WIL, 10-2 WIL, 10-2 First Class-A Adv. win DE, 4-2 WIL, /12/17 FRE 7 7 W WIL, 2-1 WIL, WIL, 1-0 Game was Suspended 5/23/17 LYN 9 9 W WIL, 1-0 WIL, 3-0 Fourth straight start allowed ER or less 5/29/17 POT L POT, 2-0 POT, 3-2 First loss since 4/ T, 3-3 WIL, 6-4 6/10/17 BC BC, 6-5 WIL, 8-7 Tied season-high with hits allowed 6/15/17 SAL W WIL, 8-0 WIl, 8-0 Set season-high with 8 IP SAL, 3-2 SAL, W WIL, 1-0 WIL, L LYN, 2-1 LYN, W WIL, 3-0 WIL, 3-1 2nd start of 8IP, 0 R 7/15/17 LYN L LYN, 2-0 LYN, 7-4 Third shortest start of season L FRE, 5-2 FRE, 5-2 2nd time losing back-to-back starts

They said it: Working with the coaches down in Spring Training and learning the game more. That s my game, speed and getting on and creating havoc on the bases. I told myself I had two pitches and then I m out...it took its own form (on 62-game on-base streak). I pretty much just rolled with it. I ended the season in Idaho and pretty much knew about my streak but when I started last season in Lexington I didn t even think about it. (On keeping streak alive) I think developing as a player each year and getting better each year helped... I think defense is the number one key to me. That helps wins games. I know hitting does too but if you have pitching and defense, that can help make a run in the playoffs...working with the coaches down in Spring Training and learning the game more. That s my game, speed and getting on and creating havoc on the base. I told myself I had two pitches and then I m out... I know Brandon Phillips doesn t really run like that but I compare myself to him. Jose Altuve as well. #15 Chris DeVito INF Ht: 6 2 Wt: 220 Age: 22 B/T: L/R Lives: Northridge, CA LG: 1-for-4, R, BB, 2SO Homestand: 1-for-8, R, BB, 4SO Notes: Selected in the 8th round of the 2016 June MLB Amateur Draft out of the University of New Mexico. A homer at Potomac on 5/19 (2R-HR) -Made Class-A Adv. debut on 5/11 vs. POT and went 1-for-3 with a walk and strikeout. -Played in 30 games with the Lexington Legends (Low-A/South Atlantic League). Hit.347 with 11 home runs and 38 RBI. -Led the South Atlantic League with his 11 HRs, hits (42), RBI, XBH (21) and SLG (.702) -Also was tied for third in the league with his.347 contact-clip. -In his last game with LEX on 5/8 he picked up his first-career four-hit game. (4-for-5, HR) 2016 Notes: Spent the season with the Burlington Royals (Rookie/Appalachian League) -Hit.261 with nine home runs and 50 RBI in 60 games. Led the team in both HR and was ranked second in the league in RBI. They said it: (On what led to great success in Lexington to start the season) Honestly, my teammates. My first couple of games weren t very good and my teammates knew I could do it, they had my back and I couldn t have done it without my teammates and the great coaching staff we have down there...just trying to be as consistent as possible (On what he worked on in the off-season). That s everyone s baseball goal, to be as consistent as possible...i actually know probably more guys here (in Wilmington) than I did at the beginning of the Lexington season so I m super excited. It s a great group of guys here...i loved that school (the University of New Mexico). Great school, great place to hit. Coach (Ray) Birmingham is a great head coach and knows what he is talking about with hitting. His support staff as well with Buddy Goldsmith, Ken (Jacome), the pitching coach, and Tony Cappuccilli were all great coaches and had great team environment there...(on moving from California to New Mexico) It is definitely different. It was the best place for me to go play baseball. My best friend from high school, Jared Holly, went to New Mexico first. He was a sophomore there my freshman year and he helped me in a lot of ways to make the transition easier...(on transition from catcher to first base.)...i absolutely love it. Catching is rough, I respect those guys for being back there. Those guys grind and put their bodies on the line. Being at first is definitely a lot easier on the body... Absolutely not, I ve never done that before (on hitting for the cycle). I was just super happy to get the win and happy to contribute. (If cycle was in his mind after the triple) A little bit, but not much. I know (triples) are incredibly hard to get and I m not a big triples guy. I was just happy to get it done early and didn t have to worry about it. I m mostly happy we got the win. #34 Roman Collins OF Ht: 6 2 Wt: 210 Age: 23 B/T: L/L Lives: Boca Raton, FL LG: 2-for-3, R, 2B, RBI, 2BB Homestand: 3-for-4, 2R, 2B, 4BB, HBP Notes: Drafted in the 5th Round of the 2015 June Amateur Draft by Kansas City out of Florida Atlantic Univ. Considered one of the best pure hitters in organization last season. Turned down opportunities to play college football. Father played football at West Virginia University Notes: Hit walk-off RBI double in 15th inning vs. BC on 6/8. -Picked up fourth three-hit game of the season on 7/12 vs. LYN -Had 13-game on-base streak end on 4/20 vs. WS. -The streak was tied as the longest on-base streak on the team with D.J. Burt and was the fourthlongest in Carolina League at the time. -Tied for first amongst active members on team with five triples, second on team in RBI (40), second with 21 doubles, third on team in runs with 38 amongst active players and fourth on the team with six home runs. -Has posted a pair of eight-game hitting streaks this season. Posted two, nine-gamers in 2014 with Idaho Falls Notes: Spent the season between the Lexington Legends (Low-A/South Atlantic League) and Wilmington Blue Rocks (Adv. A/Carolina League). -Hit.242 with nine home runs and 41 RBI in 111 total games between the two teams. -Started the season with the Blue Rocks hitting.222/0/5 in 21 contests. -Played 90 games with the Legends and hit.246/9/36. -Collected three, four-hit games last year. -Hit.249 vs RHP and.213 vs LHP -Hit.275 on the road (208 ABs) and.207 at home (218 ABs) -Spent the winter in the Australian Winter League with the Melbourne Aces and ranked among league s leaders in total bases (tied for second), batting average (third), hits (third) and runs (tied for fourth) Notes: Spent the season with the Idaho Falls Chukars (Rookie/Pioneer League) -Hit.292 with four home runs and 45 RBI in 68 games. -Ranked tied for fourth among Pioneer League batters in walks (36) during his pro debut. -Finished third on the Chukars in hits (78), second in doubles (18) and fourth in triples (6). -Was the second toughest batter to strike out in the league (every 9.03 at-bats). They said it: I had a blast in Australia. We ended up having a really good team and really good group of guys down in Melbourne, Australia. I had a really good time and got a lot better and made improvements... Living there was actually not as different as I thought it would be. There s a lot of US pop culture there so that wasn t much different. As far as baseball, there was actually a big difference. There s a lot of Japanese guys there so the style of play, especially the pitching is a lot different. There s a lot more splitters than change ups and I also saw a lot more soft throwing lefties which helped me out a lot... I played football growing up and I actually almost ended up playing football in college instead of baseball. I had a few more opportunities in football than baseball but baseball has always been my passion and it ended up working out... Definitely the fans. We have a good group of fans here and they like to come out and watch. I like it here. #26 Brandon Downes OF Ht: 6 3 Wt: 195 Age: 24 B/T: R/R Lives: South Plainfield, NJ LG: 2-for-4, R, 2B, RBI (7/25 vs. SAL) Homestand: 3-for-8, 2R, 2 2B, RBI, 2SO Notes: Selected in the 7th round of the 2014 June MLB Amateur Draft by Kansas City out of University of Virginia. In 2011 he was selected by Boston in the 43rd round of the First-Year Player Draft, but chose to attend the University of Virginia. Was third straight walkoff win for WIL. -Earned CL Player of the Week for the week of June 26-July 2 (.455/3/5) -Has hit nine home runs in his 37 games played this season while 22 of his 40 hits this year are for extra-bases. -Recorded multi-homer game on 7/2 vs. SAL with a pair of solo home runs. -Joins Chase Vallot as only other Blue Rocks with multi-homer game this season. -Second on team in HR (9). -Rejoined the team on and hit a HR after beign placed on DL for second time this year. (Hip) -Hit in five of his first seven games when he returned from the from DL the first time. (7-for-26, 3HR, 6RBI) -Started the year with Wilmington. Played in five games and hit.278 with two triples and a home run before breaking a bone in his hand. Was placed on disabled list on April Notes: Spent the season with the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Adv. A/Carolina League) and Omaha StormChasers (AAA/Pacific Coast League). -Hit.230 with 12 home runs and 66 RBI in 130 games with Wilmington. -Ranked second among Royals farmhands with 36 doubles, 34 of which came at Wilmington, where he ranked fifth in the Carolina League in two-base hits. -Played in five games with Omaha and hit.308 with a pair of doubles in 13 at-bats. -Had 26 multi-hit games last season. 2015: Spent the season with the Lexington Legends (Low-A/South Atlantic League) Wilmington Blue Rocks. -Hit.251 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI in 106 games with Lexington. -Ranked second on team in doubles, home runs and RBI for Lexington. -Played in just one game in Wilmington and in his lone at-bat struck out. -Fell a home run shy of the cycle on 5/15. (5-for-5 3 2B, 3B, RBI) 2014: Spent the season with the Idaho Falls Chukars (Rookie/Pioneer League) -Hit.308 with three home runs and 23 RBI in 41 games. Finished fifth on the team with 13 doubles. They said it: I definitely think it will be a good adjustment for me. I went through the whole first year struggling a little bit. I know the stadiums, the teams, maybe some of the same players are coming back. I think it gives me a little bit of an edge on other guys in the league. I m excited...honestly I went in there carefree. If I get out, it s supposed to happen because I m the guy from A-Ball so I took it the right way. I just went out there and felt comfortable and enjoyed myself. I honestly had no pressure on myself and that s the way I should play here too which is what I m going to try to do. It was enjoyable... The postgame spread was unbelievable. You get big leaguers buying the spread and it is steak and lobster for dinner which was very awesome. The field was incredible. There was a ton more fans I m not saying we have a bad fan base, but it s a step away from the big leagues and kids are going crazy for you. It was cool to be around older guys who have been there or guys that are close to being there. The league itself was very cool. I met one of my teammates from Virginia, Chris Taylor, he got traded to the Dodgers and we were playing them during the six games I was there and it was good to see him. It s a whole different atmosphere. There s 35-year-old guys pitching to you and you do one thing wrong and they know what that weakness it, they can repeatedly make that pitch so it definitely was a big jump but definitely awesome...it s definitely a big thing (playing near hometown). There s a lot of ups and downs, especially if you get homesick, which I haven t gotten that much in my career so far. It s definitely a blessing to have your family come out.

Originally attended Oregon State University in 2012 before transferring Notes: Hit second-career triple on 7/26 vs. SAL -Collected his third, three-hit game of the season on 7/17 vs. POT. Had three all of last season, six total in his career. -Had career-high ten-game hitting streak snapped on 6/9 vs. BC. -Picked up his first multi-hit game of the season while throwing out a pair of base runners on SAL. -Collected first multi-rbi game of the season on BC -Leads team in caught stealing percentage (35%) Notes: Spent the season with the Burlington Royals (Rookie/Appalachian League) -Hit.317 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 29 games. -Did not commit and error behind the dish. (250 innings) -Threw out 28% of would-be base stealers Notes: Spent the season with the Royals (Rookie/Arizona League) and hit.250 with five RBI in 27 games. Made just one error behind the plate. They said it: I would say definitely attitude was huge for me. Learning how to take each at-bat at a time and move forward from the negative things and take the positives of each at-bat and that s helped me relax at the plate... No. Absolutely not. I never had seven RBIs before. It was really cool. I guess the coolest thing about it was that I had no idea how many RBIs I had until the game was over and my teammates were telling me. I think that s the only reason why it happened. If I went in to each at-bat saying I already have four, let me get another one RBI, it wouldn t have happened for me and messed with my attitude. I don t think it would ve been as successful as a game... I think that s the reason why I m here. I really pride myself on defense. I try to come out every day to run a pitching staff, keep the ball in front of me and not let runners advance. I think that s what I pride myself on the most... I don t have a specific catcher. I can give you one guy. I was a big Jorge Posada fan of the New York Yankees. Just the way he was so agile behind the plate and lanky. He wasn t a big stocky dude because I m not like that either, but I liked the way he moved behind the plate for sure... Definitely an energizer bunny for these guys, I think I provide a lot of energy on the field, in the bullpen or the clubhouse. Someone that can provide energy day in and day out because we all know the season can get long. #4 Jecksson Flores OF Ht:5 11 Wt: 145 Age: 23 B/T: R/R Lives: Cuidad Bolivar, VZ LG: 2-for-2, R, 2RBI, BB, SF Homestand: 2-for-9, R, 2 RBI, 2BB, 2SO, SAC, SF Notes: Signed as non-drafted Free Agent by Kansas City on July 21, Notes: Posted first, three RBI game on 6/18 (G2 vs. SAL) since 7/4/16. -Leads CL in sacrifice hits (16) -Swatted his first-career Class-A Adv.
