12 Sustainable development of coral reefs The purpose is to identify means through which the resistance and resilience of coral reefs to global climate change can be enhanced through international cooperative research. The goals are (1) Through cyberinfrastructure, globally visualizing biodiversity of coral reefs and impacts of global climate change on coral reefs in a new observing way; (2) Long-distance investigating experimentally the mechanisms of resistance and resilience of coral reefs to global climate change; (3) Promoting mass collaboration of global citizens for conservation of coral reefs.
