1 Combat Tuck One, Two or Aggressor Mode PURPOSE The purpose of the combat tuck is to reactively and proactively prevent an adversary from grabbing your weapon in the extreme CQB environment (7yds and in). It allows the operator to tuck their weapon as they approach corners, make entry to a room and most importantly when the make contact with a human adversary. Specifically, it allows the operator to withdraw the weapon from the reach of an offender or innocent while still providing a shooting platform from which the operator can engage an extreme CQB target. It actively removes the operator s weapon from the reach of humans and prevents telegraphing around corners. It is a self initiated tactic used on the move and with repetitive practice automatically. It is used both with the pistol and with the patrol rifle, shotgun and sub guns. It applies to rifles and handgun, but the focus here is handgun. METHODS Two handed Combat Tuck: The operator will go from their extended hands stance, to a modified position sul where both hands remain gripping the weapon, and the weapon is drawn in to the chest, barrel pointed towards the offender (figure 1) or down as in position sul (figure 2). It is intended for extreme CQB only, touching to 7 yards. Figure 1 Figure 2

2 One handed Combat Tuck: The operator will go from their hands extended stance to a one handed strong hand tuck; weapon slightly canted to away from the body at a 45* angle with the non shooting hand not specifically going to a cover position on the chest or face. Figure 3 The transition to the one handed stance is typically completed on the move or when opening doors, and instinctively upon contact with a human (see figure 04, 05 and 06 for the transition). 3 ISSUES One handed Pistol Grip Reduced accuracy outside of 7 yards Proximity to the chest lends to the slide of the pistol making contact with the operator s chest and causing a malfunction. 5 Combat Tuck Option METHOD: Single handed Aggressor Mode: The operator begins in the stance or transitions as necessary to the stance. Go from the extended hands stance to a one handed strong hand tuck, weapon slightly canted to away from the body at a 45* angle while the other hand transitions to an aggressor strike/guard position. 1 Figure 9 Figure 10 Figure 11 The strike/guard hand position can be similar to image 9, 10 or11. 6 BENEFITS The aggressor position allows for the operator to be at the ready to aggress rather than merely react to humans or obstacles as is the case with the standard tuck. It is a proactive instinctive stance automatically taken by the individual. It shares the benefits of the single handed combat tuck: Allows for human and obstacle manipulation o Closed fist and open hand strikes to face, brachial etc. o Opening doors, cabinets etc. ISSUES The issues remain the same as in the single hand combat tuck SUMMARY 2 The combat tuck is a tactic used when conducting CQB operations such as building clearing, active shooter incidents, etc. It is typically applied either in a two handed or one handed variation. Both variations have their issues and benefits. However it is shown that the one handed aggressor option provides you the operator with the most benefits that allow you to operate proactively and safely in the fluid CQB environment. Because something is titled aggressor does not necessarily make it a bad thing. Remember, if you are tasked to clear a building, rescue a hostage or go after an active shooter, you must be and aggressor if you want to be of any good to the victim who is depending on you to survive their ordeal.
