1 THUNDER SHINE AT FALL GAMES The Opportunity House Athletics Special Olympics volleyball teams began practicing in July with their goals set on making it to the Special Olympics Illinois Fall Games. Both the Modified and Unified teams achieved those goals by earning silver medals at the Special Olympics Illinois District C Volleyball tournament held Sunday September 23rd in LaGrange. The Fall Games is the state level tournament for our volleyball teams held this year on October at Harlem High School. Both the teams played at the Special Olympics Illinois Fall Games for the chance to be called state champions in their respective divisions. The Modified team played very well at the Fall Games, but came up short in losing in 3 sets to both the Palatine High School and Koz Chaos. The modified earned a 4th place is their division at the Fall Games. The Unified group earned a silver medal at the Fall Games by splitting their two games. In the first game, the lost an extremely close and hard fought game to Rockford Special Olympics in 3 sets. The then followed up that loss with a straight set win over Oak Lawn Blue to earn the silver medal. Congratulations to all the athletes, unified partners, and coaches on another successful volleyball season. Opportunity House Athletics Sports Guide 1
