2 Beneficiary Information Logan, only 23 months old, has been a patient at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children since birth. He battles kidney failure on a daily basis and spends 11 hours each day on dialysis. Logan s Mom, Maggie, remains strong for her son, but like all parents of chronically ill children, they have days when their strength waivers. If I do need to cry, and I am freaking out for a minute, I know who I can turn to, explains Maggie. I can count on the staff to be there. The medical team hasn t just saved Logan, they have helped to save us, too. This level of support was not always available for kidney patients and their families at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer. Prior to 2011, pediatric patients with acute kidney care needs had to be seen within an adult service area. Although the clinical care received has always been exemplary, the intricate social and emotional needs of pediatric patients and their families was overshadowed in a clinic space geared more for adults. Thankfully, impactful donors recognized this gap in support and have made the dream of patient-centered care, appropriate for a pediatric population, a reality. Your support continues to provide pediatric kidney patients with the critical care needed to survive. 2
