1 OWOSSO ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT 765 E. NORTH ST. OWOSSO, MI Phone: Fax: Dallas Lintner, Ed.S., CMAA JoEllen Smith, Athletic Secretary Athletic Points of Pride Follow OHS ATHLETICS on Facebook and KO Clash is TONIGHT at Kearsley HS. 4:00 PM start for all varsity spring sports, JV BB/SB/Tennis. Golf Tee time is 3:30 PM at the Flint Elks. Bring a lawn chair and see all activities FREE OF CHARGE! BASEBALL - Owosso 21, Williamston 3 - Jordan Klapko gave Williamston fits, as he bagged five hits in Owosso Trojans Varsity's 21-3 victory on Thursday. Klapko homered in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and tripled in the fifth. An early lead helped propel Owosso Trojans Varsity to victory. Owosso Trojans Varsity scored on a home run by Jordan Klapko, a single by Traverse Campbell, and a single by Nathan Nicevski in the first inning. GOLF (BOYS) Defending state champion St. Johns won their second conference jamboree today at Pleasant View Golf Course in Dewitt today by shooting a low round of 152. The Trojans finished in fifth place today while shooting a 202. The Trojans were led by Warren Bueche with a 46. Also scoring today were Andrew Bueche and Colton Koepplinger each with a round of 51 and Randy Dorff with a round of 54. The Trojans will be participating in the KO event on Friday at Flint Elks. On Friday, all spring sport teams will be participating against Kearsley at Kearsley which marks the second annual Kearsley-Owosso (KO) competition. SOCCER (GIRLS) Owosso: 5 (28 shots), Carman-Ainsworth: 1 (3 shots). OW Keeper Ellie Hood: 2 saves CA Keeper Arianna Vantine: 17 saves OW Record: 3-3 CA Record: 1-4 1st Half OW Anna Raffaelli (7:13) follow-up shot after Taylor Porter's shot hit the post OW Raffaelli (26:17) 2nd Half OW Porter (12:19) OW Porter (16:36), assist from Raffaelli CA Jasia Caldwell (23:10), free kick at the top of the box after our defender committed a hard, late foul OW Porter (9:30) OW Raffaelli (0:54), assist from Porter It was great getting another win, tonight. After struggling to put together passing combinations during the first 20 minutes, things started to click. Second half ball movement greatly improved, but rushed shots led to only
2 5 of 28 to reach the back of the net. Solid defense and continued focus on passing will keep sending us in the right direction as we start league play. Coach Tew and I are proud of the way players are stepping into new roles and look forward to improved growth over the next few weeks. JV soccer beat Carman 0-4. Goal scorers: Sarah Dockey, Rebecca Jones, Jaycie Crites and Kambria McAnnich Assists: Kambria McAnnich and Rebecca Jones Owosso 1, DeWitt 7 - Ellie Hood Reaches 500 Career Saves, Solidifies Role as All-Time Varsity Saves Leader. Owosso: 1 (1 shot)- Record 3-4 (0-1). DeWitt: 7 (34 shots) Record 8-5 (1-0). Owosso Keeper Ellie Hood: 24 saves (Career Saves Leader). Ellie Hood's 24 saves against DeWitt seals her spot as the all-time OHS Girls Soccer Saves Leader, with over 500 saves over the course of her 3-year Varsity career. Tonight's scoring line says little about the defensive intensity with which our team played. Playing a strong team like DeWitt who has several players who have opportunities to play DI/DII college soccer, presented our team with a chance to prove their ability to shut down a superior team's offensive chemistry. Shots were contested and it was obvious, early on, that our team's intensity and aggressiveness was getting in the opposition's head. I was very proud of the defensive line of Lauren Stowe, Cece Munro, Carmen de Santiago and Mackenzie Johnson. The icing on the cake was Anna Raffaelli's 1st half goal from about 40 yards, especially since we haven't scored on DeWitt in 4 years. We look forward to a redemption game against Kearsley, a team that we lost to late in last season's District game. 1st Half: DeWitt- Tiemann (1:01) DW- Bishop (5:50) DW- Cherves (14:10) Owosso- Raffaelli (17:16) DW- Stephan (24:09) 2nd Half DW- Marus (5:52) DW- Stephan (23:59) DW- Dawes (38:08) SOFTBALL Owosso Trojans Varsity defeated Holt 4-1 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game.
