In her first two years, we put her in a leadership role, but it wasn t quite comfortable for her, and she struggled with that. We ve seen her leadership really step up this year and her consistency. Where she falls in the lineup for us, we don t know, but we clearly know she is a threat offensively to be on base and causes havoc with her speed. And defensively, I expect that her stability in center field will be very important for our defense. 16 #21 Kelly Dyer Junior Walker says... Just look at the stats from last year and realize what Kelly Dyer did was pretty amazing and outstanding. She took on the bulk of the pitching right on through the Pac-10 and probably had more responsibility as a pitcher than we ve ever had one person be ever. She took a lot of losses and attacks and got beat up quite a bit, but the thing that s so impressive is her resiliency and her ability to grow through that adversity. I expect and hope that she is able to have a breakout year statistically, where her efforts will really pay off and get us a lot of wins. 22 #6 Erin Guzy Sophomore Walker says... There have been a lot of changes for Erin Guzy in terms of moving from the outfield to the infield. But she is probably the biggest offensive player we have stepping onto the field right now. She is explosive, dynamic, has power, has decent speed, has the ability to hit to all fields and has a tenacity at the plate that I think really defines her and hopefully will define us as a team. (JESUIT HS) #16 Mary Claire Brenner Freshman Daughter of Doug and Jennifer Brenner Has one younger sister, Elizabeth, and younger brother, Doug Cousin, Lindsy Kragt, plays softball for West Georgia Majoring in Nutrition and Fitness former prep teammate Paige Hall also plays for Oregon State Chose Oregon State because of the program, to play against the best competition in the Pac-10 and to be close to my family. Walker says... Mary Claire Brenner is a dynamic athlete. She has great strength, power and quickness for her size and a very strong arm. I think she can make an impact here her freshman year. Given the opportunity to be in the starting lineup, she could certainly bring a lot of RBI and hits for a lot of power. Hopefully she can adjust to the pitching at the Division I level right away and be a surprise because she ll be a powerful player in our lineup that a lot of people don t know about Oregon State Softball Media Guide 35

30 #44 Nikki Chandler Freshman Off the Field with Nikki Chandler My favorite movie is Superbad. The TV show I never miss is The Hills. I always say ya ll. My greatest fear is failure. The three people I d invite to dinner are my mom, my dad and my brother, Wes. My favorite beverage is Pepsi. On my bedroom walls are pictures of friends. My biggest role model is my mom. My first job was babysitting. The best word that describes me is goofy. My favorite junk food is ice cream. If I could have any super power, it would be to fly. I wear No. 44 because I wore it for tournament. #44 Nikki Chandler SS/2B 5-8 FR BATS: R THROWS: R HOUSTON, TEX. Daughter of Ronald and Priscilla Chandler Has one older brother, Wes Majoring in Exercise and Sport Science Former prep teammates Leslie LeJune plays softball at Southern Mississippi University and Jamie El-Aazami plays softball at Wagner Chose Oregon State because it s a great university, and Corvallis is a great college town. Walker says... Nikki Chandler showed this fall that she is an absolutely dynamic defensive player. She increased our infield productivity immensely right off the bat. I think she definitely established herself within the team that her defense is something that s going to be extremely valuable to this program. Additionally, offensively she was very impressive. And she s made a lot of adjustments to the Division I level pitching so far, and I think she has a lot of tools and can do a lot of great things for us. I m excited to see her get the opportunity to play at a very high level in the Pac-10 and have all the expectations that she ll rise to the occasion and be an All-Pac-10 level player Oregon State Softball Media Guide

31 Off the Field with Paige Hall The top three songs in my ipod right now are Skin by R. Kelly, Can t Believe It by T-Pain and Gifts by Ray J. My favorite junk food is chips. If I wasn t playing softball, I d be playing basketball. My favorite Oregon State athlete is Mike Hass. I always eat. My dream job would be to work at Nike. The TV show I never miss is The Hills. Favorite value in others is trust. My favorite movie is Superbad. My biggest role model is my dad. (JESUIT HS) Walker says... Paige Hall comes in with a lot of notoriety but is pretty unproven at the high level. In the games she played in this fall we saw a lot of growth, improvement, consistency and change in her personality. I think she can be an All-Pac-10 level pitcher. She throws into all four regions very well. She has great power and a great off-speed. She s proven already that she s willing to take on the role and threw every inning this fall for our team, and I think that s going to give her a lot of confidence going into the season Oregon State Softball Media Guide 37

Daughter of Michael and Susan Luchanski Has one older brother, Brett Father, Michael, played rugby for the University of Alberta Undecided on a major Chose Oregon State because it s a great Pac-10 softball opportunity and for a strong education. Walker says... Nicole Luchanski is a dynamo. She goes 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. This athlete really works as hard as I ve ever seen. She s exciting to be around because you never know what play she s going to pull out or how she s going to come up with a great clutch hit. She s proven so far this year that although she was not a big name recruit, she s certainly making a niche for herself as an athlete that is ready to compete for this program. So we expect her to be fighting everyday to get into the starting lineup and if not in the lineup, she will be pushing our infielders to be the best that they can be Oregon State Softball Media Guide

Daughter of Russell Blumkin and Trini Sanchez Blumkin Majoring in Exercise and Sports Science Chose Oregon State because when I got here, I fell in love. #11 Ashley Sanchez OF 5-1 FR BATS: L THROWS: L ALAMEDA, CALIF.. (ALAMEDA HS) #11 Ashley Sanchez Freshman Walker says... Ashley is one of those kind of quiet players that just sits back and figures things out and watches what s going on and then tries to jump in and compete. But the one thing about Ashley is she s a competitor and she wants to be out there everyday. We ve seen a lot of growth in her so far. She s got a lot of experience to gain in terms of playing at this level as a freshman, but she has all the tools to be a major player and contribute to this program in a major way physically. We expect her to get quite a bit of opportunity, possibly getting some starting time if she gets everything going well and competes hard Oregon State Softball Media Guide 39
