The University of Miami is set for the fi rst road trip of the year on Wednesday, Feb. 23, traveling to Boca Raton, Fla., for a meeting with South Florida foe Florida Atlantic University. The Hurricanes enter the game with a 2-1 overall, while FAU will be playing topranked Florida in Jupiter, Fla., on Tuesday night before returning home to take on the Canes. FAU enters its game against UF with a 3-0 mark. The Miami Bullpen Steps Up... The Hurricanes used four different pitchers out of the bullpen over the weekend against Rutgers. The combination of Sam Robinson, Adam Sargent, Javi Salas and closer Dan Miranda shut down the opposition to help earn two-of-three wins against the Scarlet Knights. On the weekend, the Miami bullpen allowed just two runs and eight hits in 13 innings of action against the Scarlet Knights. The UMiami bullpen also collected 14 K s in the series, using a win from Sam Robinson on Friday in relief of freshman pitcher Bryan Radziewski. Scouting Florida Atlantic... Florida Atlantic owns a 3-0 record going to play the Florida Gators on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The Owls took all three games in a weekend series against Hofstra (Feb ), and averaged 10 runs per contest. FAU s bullpen had two of its three wins while pitching 14 of the 27 innings against the Pride. The bullpen allowed just one earned run, struck out 11 batters and had two walks. The Owls are led at the plate by Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, Nick Delguidice. On the weekend, he batted.750 with nine hits, eight RBI and a homer. In the series, UMiami has taken the last seven games consecutively, and is a winner in 11 of the last 12 overall. The last FAU win over UM came back on Apr. 9, 2008, using a 6-3 edge in Coral Gables. Freshman Has His Day... Freshman pitcher Bryan Radziewski started opening night against Rutgers on Friday, Feb. 18, and pitched marvelously for the Canes. The gift - the largest ever to the University of Miami baseball program - has assisted the program in continuing to develop fi rst-class facilities. The offi cial announcement of his gift was made on Oct. 10, Alex Rodriguez Park has taken form in a three-phase process: Phase I called for seating modifi cations, new dugouts, new stadium lighting and utility infrastructure and new rest rooms. Phase II entailed renovating below the grand stand area in addition to adding new concession areas. The fi nal phase included adding a new clubhouse, weight room, training room, meeting room, video room and academic area. In addition, a new press box along with four VIP suites have been built atop the grandstand. This past offseason, addition seating was added down both lines while a new scoreboard was constructed in left fi eld.
