3 PRESENTATION CYCLOSPORTIVE LES 100 À B7 Discover Lyne Bessette s training routes! On Sunday October 4, 2015, the Brome-Missisquoi region will host the first edition of the cyclosportive Les 100 à B7. Hundreds of cyclists of all abilities are expected to participate in this 100 km challenge. Cyclists are invited to enter this cyclosportive, from the experienced ones who wish to push their limits to the enthusiasts who wish to ride at their own rhythm. A great way to ride while enjoying the Brome-Missisquoi scenery and discovering landscapes of the Eastern Townships that will make each one of these kilometers unique to the participants. Les 100 à B7 will be touring the roads that Olympian Lyne Bessette used while she was training. A Townships native, Lyne will share amazing roads and hidden treasures from her neck of the woods! This event is meant to become the annual meeting for amateur riders! Page 2

4 REGISTRATION Registrations can be made online via the Federation des sports cyclists website or in person on race day (October 4). Cost: 65$ vintage categorie (Bike and clothing on race day) 75$ before September 17th $ before October 2 nd $ on site (October 4th 2015) Registration includes: Race supervision and first aid assistance Water, fruit along with bars and gels Outhouses and showers at start/finish (National Cycling Center Bromont) BBQ and music after the event (refreshments at participants expense) Strava segment Prize for top finishers Raffle prizes from great sponsors COURSE The course is made of 95% gravel road. The use of a cyclo-cross bike or a road bike with 25 or 28mm tires is recommended. Mountain bikes are also allowed but not necessary. The 100 km course will only be timed on specific sections. Therefore, winners will not necessarily be the first to cross the line, but rather the fastest on selected sections. This will allow cyclists to enjoy each other s company as well as the beautiful scenery. Please note that puncture repairs are the responsibility of the participating cyclists. ETIQUETTE The route is on OPEN ROADS. Traffic will be aware of the event, but normal traffic rules apply. Please be extra cautious on the dirt roads stay to the right. The downhills are fun, but very fast. Please be aware of cars and be vigilant. The volunteers will be there for Page 3

5 your safety, not to stop cars. These are very quiet roads, but be aware at the few stops signs. We want everyone to be safe out there. The timed sections are the best place to go fast! PARKING Participants should expect to park at the IGA located next door to the Cycling Center. MEDICAL SUPPORT An ambulance will be available on site. It is also possible to contact ambulance practitioners organizations such as CETAM (Montérégie Ambulance Workers' Co-Op), who would agree to stay on site without being paid while on their regular shift. We will also ask Brome Lake s first responders to do the same. However, in case of emergency calls, they will have to leave the premises. With the collaboration of Brome Lake s first responders, we hope to offer high-quality medical support. Within the organization, we will have seven pairs of professional Ski Patrollers from Ski Bromont. All teams will have access to a vehicle and will be deployed throughout the course. Two vehicles will follow the cyclists one with the leading group, one at the end of the pack, along with the broom wagon. The other four teams will be posted along the course and will be able to respond quickly if alerted by the seventh vehicle, who will act as a dispatcher. The vehicles will be stationed at kilometers 5, 10, 15, 25, 28, 38, 50, 55, 65, 75, 87, 89, 100. Teams will move when three quarters of the peloton will have come through. If needed, slower cyclists will be able to get help from the nearby broom wagon and medical professionals. First aiders (located at 75 th km and 87 th km) will move toward the finish area promptly when the majority of cyclists will have come through. A first aid station will be put in place near the finish area. An event like this isn t possible without the support of many people. Our on-course volunteer crew will be stationed at intersections to keep riders safe. Many times these will be people who live in the area and are taking the day off from riding themselves to help out. Please be courteous and respectful if a volunteer asks you to hold for traffic or for any other reason. The Eastern Townships is a beautiful area. Please do not throw trash, used energy packets or other items onto the roads. It s important that we are able to have the support of the local residents, villages and local leadership. There will be trash receptacles at the feed zone (approx 50km). Page 4
