12 REASON During routine assembly inspection, Amsafe determined that some Inertial Reel Assemblies did not exhibit the normal clicking sound during web retraction. Further investigation by Amsafe found that a component part had a slipping condition and that there could be an unintentional web spool out of as much as 6 inches of web when the assembly was continually cycled. Amsafe has determined that the suspect inertial reel assemblies have a date code of "A0914". DESCRIPTION This service letter provides parts and instructions to do a visual inspection of the inertial reel assembly for the suspect date code of "A0914", and if a suspect reel is found, to remove and replace it. The suspect inertial reel assembly must then be returned to Cessna Aircraft Company for warranty credit. COMPLIANCE MANDATORY. This service bulletin must be accomplished at the next 100-hour or 12-month (annual-type) inspection. 13 ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. (Refer to Figure 1.) Look at the date code on the Inertial Reel Assembly. A. If the date code is "A0914", look for a white sticker on the Inertial Reel Assembly with WHEEL CHECKED printedonthesticker. (1) If there is a white sticker on the Inertial Reel Assembly with WHEEL CHECKED printed on the sticker, go to Step 9. (2) If there is no white sticker on the Inertial Reel Assembly with WHEEL CHECKED printed on the sticker, go to Step 2. B. If the date code is not "A0914", go to Step Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded. B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) Disconnect external electrical power. (2) Disconnect the airplane battery. D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" writtenonthem. 3. Remove the Reel Assembly. Refer to the applicable illustration in the applicable Service Kit instructions for the installation location of the reel assembly. As necessary, discard the applicable attachment hardware shown in the Material Availability section of these Accomplishment Instructions and keep the other attachment hardware. NOTE: The applicable Service Kit instructions are available for you to download at Use the applicable one of the Service Kits that follow: SK B (or latest revision) Pilot Secondary Seat Stop Installation SK A (or latest revision) Copilot Secondary Seat Stop Installation. NOTE: As you remove the reel assembly, you can make a list of the parts (shown in the Material Information section of these Accomplishment Instructions) that you will need to attach the new inertia reel assembly. 4. Install the new Reel Assembly in accordance with the applicable Service Kit instructions. As applicable, use the new attachment hardware and the kept attachment hardware. 5. Adjust the manual lock in accordance with the applicable Service Kit instructions. 6. Attach the Cable Assembly to the seat base as necessary with MS Tie Straps. 7. Make sure that the Cable Assembly moves smoothly and freely during operation. If it does not move smoothly and freely, you must move the Cable Assembly as necessary and attach it to the seat base again with MS Tie Straps. 8. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery. 9. Make an entry in the airplane logbook that states compliance and method of compliance with this service letter. 18 OWNER ADVISORY WARRANTY For all airplanes identified within the serial effectivity with applicable sales receipt for inertial reel assembly dated between October 7, 2014 and January 16, 2015: NOTE: The Inertial Reel Assembly must be returned to Cessna Aircraft Company with the applicable sales receipt to receive warranty credit. No labor allowance credit will be provided to do the inspection. If necessary, applicable parts credit and a labor allowance credit of 0.5 man-hour per seat will be provided to replace the inertial reel assembly. Freight will be credited at the most economical method unless pre-approved by Cessna. To receive credit, the work must be completed and a warranty claim submitted by a Cessna Authorized Service Facility within 30 calendar days of service bulletin compliance before the credit expiration dates shown below.
