1 WCCC-TV Schedule for Week of May 27, 2012 MEMORIAL DAY The History of the W.A.S.P. Monday 8:00am During World War II, a select group of young women pilots became pioneers, heroes and role models. They were the Women Air force Service Pilots, WASP, the first women in history trained to fly American military aircraft. This program takes a look back at their service to this country. Chuck Frost Korean War Pilot Monday 8:30am Chuck Frost recalls his days in the military as a pilot in the Korean War and his days as a trainer pilot. The Doris Miller Story Monday 9:30am Waco native Doris Miller was a cook in the United States Navy and a hero during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, Listen as Robert Gamboa describes his dedication to his country. PEARL HARBOR Frank Curre s Story Monday 11:00am Frank Curre was only a teenager when he signed up to serve in the U.S. Navy. A few months after enlisting, he was involved in an event that would change the course history. He tells his story of December 7, 1941 in this powerful documentary about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Samuel Bessire Jr. World War II Prisoner of War Monday 1:30pm Samuel Bessire, Jr. was captured in Germany during World War II. Hear as he remembers his experience in the POW camps. World War II Pilot Bill Skinner Monday 3:30pm Bill Skinner reminisces of his time as a pilot during World War II and the training he received all over the country, including Waco. Paul Marable - World War II Prisoner of War Monday 4:00pm Longtime Waco resident Paul Marable shares his World War II experiences from the D-day invasion to being held as a POW. Attack at Pearl Harbor Richard Cunningham Monday 7:30pm Richard Cunningham was assigned to the U.S.S. Tennessee in December, However, at the time of the attack, he had left the ship to pick up some officers. Cunningham gives his account of the events of that fateful day.

His journey, an effort to promote a new grape drink called Vin Fiz, began in Sheepshead Bay, New York and continued eastward to Chicago. From there, he headed south, eventually making his way to Waco where he entertained the local citizens by circling the city three times before landing. He left the next morning in route to Austin and continued to the west coast to complete his historic flight. Richard Veit, an avid historian, brings the incredible story of the first transcontinental flight to life.
