2 On behalf of everyone at MRL, we would like to invite you to the ranch December 7th for our Herdbuilders 18 fall female sale. It has been quite a year as far as mother nature goes. A winter that was relentless and seemed to hang in there last spring and since then a spring, summer and fall everybody will remember with certain extremes in every part of Canada and the northern US States. It seems every region had its struggles. But as farmers and ranchers we are a relentless bunch and in most areas got enough feed up, crops were decent and calf prices early this fall have far exceeded what anybody was thinking. The Farmers Almanac is calling for a colder winter but Environment Canadas is promising El Nino with warmer temps. Not sure about you, but I m going with Environment Canada s forecast! The cattle markets this fall have been strong and especially on these heavyweight Simmental and Simm/Angus calves. Top quality calves that punch the scale down, are structurally sound and have the look to attract the order buyers attention will fetch a premium. Investment in quality, young replacement females and top herdsires with the genetics to back them up will always pay dividends. For our 2018 lineup we have dug deeper than we ever have for our offering as you will find our most elite cow families represented in each and every category; Red and Black Simmental and our Angus division. The sires to the females are industry leading sires and exclusive to MRL and our customers in many cases. The service sires may be as intriguing as any as we have mated these powerful females to the most elite calving ease sires in North America. Once again mostly exclusive to our program and not highly accessible within the industry offering our customers exclusive marketability options. In the black division: Alliance, State of War and R Plus Focus outcross genetics at their finest. In the reds, exciting new sires R Plus Focus and MRL North Western and proven sires like IPU Red Western and MRL Red Force who s semen is almost extinct. The Angus division boasts service to 2 of the most exciting young bulls in the breed today- U2 Retrospect and Cockburn Assassin and once again not readily available within the industry. Over 50 years building this cowherd allows us to offer you these powerful females from the heart of our herd. Our focus at MRL has always been to cater to our commercial customer s needs with focus on selling bulls into the commercial industry. For 2018 we will once again be offering commercial bred females for sale. These females genetically are the same as the purebred heifers on offer and are actually the heifers out of our spring calving herd and almost entirely registered females. They are bred to calve in mid March to Angus AI sires and exposed to our highly proven MRLA 201z calving ease sire once again. Not just run of the mill commercial heifers here but 100% home raised and the most elite genetics in the industry. Progeny will be true FI Simm/Angus cross on the Simmental heifers and straight Angus on the Angus group of breds. Our offering on December 7th will allow you to take advantage of almost 50 years of genetic progress and step right in at the top of our program with exclusive genetics and proven cow families. We will probably not overwhelm you with professional fitting, and pictures either in our sale catalogue, or on sale day at the ranch but can guarantee females that will be highly proven and big on production with genetics bred in for generations that will work in the real world.
