1 EUROPEAN CUP MERRY MAJORETTE AUGUST 2016 SIÓFOK- HUNGARY OPEN INTERNATIONAL CUP Organizer: Hungarian Majorette Association & International Association of Majorette-Sport Arena: open-air stage on Fő square and Kálmán Imre summer theatre Highest point of the ceiling: 8, 00 m Stage: 12x12 metres sports flooring The protective zone is 2 metres along the side lines of all sides of the stage For marching parade, central road (4-line road) will be closed Summer theatre and summer mobile stage for choreographies, closed route for défilé in the centre. Changing: For competitors large hall in the Culture House, in summer theatre 4 changing rooms, suitable for fast clothes changing. Please ensure that the majorettes arrive dressed at the first costume to the competition place every day. EQUIPMENT baton majorettes mace majorettes pompon majorettes Baton must be 400 grams or lighter and 75 cm or shorter, made by Dombi or Starline. Mace must be 401 grams or heavier and 76 cm or longer, one end much bigger. 2. DISCIPLINES Every formation must participate in 2 disciplines: parade march stage choreography Solo-formations participate just in stage choreography. 3. COMPETITION CATEGORIES Baton solo (one majorette) junior, senior duo (two majorettes) junior, senior formation (8-25 majorettes) cadet, junior, senior Mace solo (one majorette) junior, senior duo (two majorettes) junior, senior formation (8-25 majorettes) cadet, junior, senior Pompon formation (8-25 majorettes) cadet, junior, senior 4. FORMATION RULES Number of majorettes in formation 8-25 competitors One of the majorettes in formation must be a captain (lead-majorette) who is clearly marked (different uniforms, colours, rank symbols etc.)
3 Age classes cadets: 8-11 years juniors: years seniors: 15 year and more Majorette is as many years-old as she was on 1st January of current year at 00:01 hours, and she will be in that age class all over that year. There can be 40% majorettes younger or older in each team, but just from bordering age class, exempt in solo and duo where there is no possibility of younger or older girls. Uniforms Costume as a whole must make an impression of stylized military uniform Mace majorettes uniforms must be very traditional, based on military uniforms from 19 century or later. Mace uniforms must have a hat, a jacket/skirt or a dress and a boots. Accompanying music Music has to be a march or some other music with 2/4 or 4/4 rhythm of classical performance for bat on and pompon teams Mace majorettes music must be very traditional, based on military marches from 19 century or earlie r and played only by a marching band, a brass band, fanfare orchestra, symphonic orchestra or philhar monics. Music can be live orchestra or playback. playback: Team can perform on play back music, which must be stored on very good quality CD Group can use one complete composition or cut music mix. Many types of music are allowed to be danced to; if it is arranged for the orchestra Rules of forbidden styles are not obligated for solo and duo baton. Live orchestra Orchestra is allowed to march with Majorettes as accompany or make a show performance together in parade march. Orchestra is allowed also to stand in one place, next to the competition area. Making a show together is advantageous in evaluation. While stage performance, orchestra is obligued to stand one place. Parade marching is performed in route long 60 meters. Route for parade marching is 6 meters wide. Integral part of parade march route is an entering and leaving area, 10 x 6 m wide. Each group passes through the rout separately. Parade marching has to be performed in time of 2 minutes. The time starts when the first majorette cr osses the start line, and is stopped after the first majorette cross the finish line. Stage choreography The stage is 12x12 meters. Time for group is 2:30-4:00 minutes for solo/ duo time is minutes Time starts when the first majorette steps on the stage and stops when the first majorette leaves the s tage. Coming and leaving in stage choreography must be maximum 30 seconds each. Performance of competition must be clearly separated from coming and leaving. Every group in stage choreography must salute to the judges while coming in and before leaving the st age. Preparation by the competition rules: Awards teams: 1-3. Cup, 1-6 diplomas Solo/ duo: 1-3 medal, 1-6 diploma European Cup- by decision of the jury Special prizes by sponsors
4 TWIRLING For D C B A level competitors 1. Age Categories Solo: Tot: 0-7, Juvenile: 8-11, Junior: 12-16, Senior: 16+ Duets Combine ages to determine age group 0-18, 19-24, and more Trios Average ages to determine age group Juvenile Junior, 14 and more senior Girls against boys, except 1-baton Music march music, individually selected or provided by contest director of 128 to 132 BPM. Baton must have a rubber ball and tip Performing Area 12x 12 m, at least 8 m high Safety First Rules for all participants. The following gymnastic stunts are disallowed: 1. Body aerials 2. Walkovers 3. Cartwheels 4. Butterflies 5. Somersaults on floor 6. Two or more stories body mounts and body tosses. Competition categories A: Solo Twirl is the mainstay of all baton twirling and provides a competitor with the opportunity to perform an in novative routine, which is adjudicated for its variety, difficulty, speed, control, smoothness, gracefulne ss, presentation, and showmanship :30 min from Opening Salute to Closing Salute B. Two Baton A contestant performs with two batons. Both batons must be in action at all times, Either in like patterns, alternating patterns, or in concert with each other. 1:30-2:00 min from Opening Salute to Closing Salute C. Three-Baton Contestant twirling three batons only. 1:30-2:00 min from Opening Salute to Closing Salute D. Duet and Trio Contestants are judged on their ability to perform simultaneously and in concert with one another while employing exchanges and combinations uniquely designed for duets and trios. Each contestant is evaluated on the use of one baton. duet 2:00-2:30 min from Opening Salute to Closing Salute Trio 2:00-3:00 min from Opening Salute to Closing Salute by Leader E. Rhythmic Twirl (previously known as Dance Twirl). Solo Rhythmic Twirl is a kind in which twirlers coordinate their body movements to the music. All styles of interpretation are acceptable within the bounds of good taste. Advanced solo twirlers only; one baton only, no props. AGE: Ladies 10-12, 13-15, 16+. Men 7-12, 13+

Media: CD, mp3 Preparation by the competition rules: CHEERDANCE (Jazz, Hip Hop, Freestyle Pom) All participants agree to conduct themselves in a manner displaying good sportsmanship throughout the competition with positive presentation upon entry and exit from the performance area as well as throughout the routine. The coach of each team is responsible for seeing that team members, coaches, parents, and other persons affiliated with the team conduct themselves accordingly. Severe cases of unsportsmanlike conduct are grounds for disqualification THE PERFORMANCE FLOOR 12x 12m CATEGORIES 1 TEAM CHEER JAZZ - Incorporates stylized movements and combinations, formation changes, group work and technical elements. An emphasis is placed on proper technical execution, extension, control, body placement, style and continuity of movement along with team uniformity. See score sheet for more information. 2 TEAM CHEER HIP HOP - Incorporates street style influenced movements and rhythms with an
6 emphasis on execution, style, creativity, body isolations and control, rhythm, uniformity and musical interpretation. There is also an additional focus on athletic incorporations such as jumps, freezes/stalls and other tricks. See score sheet for more information. 3 TEAM CHEER FREESTYLE POM - Incorporates the concepts of Jazz and Hip Hop with an emphasis on choreography, proper technical execution, visual effect, creativity, staging and team uniformity. Poms are used for % of the routine. Important characteristics of this type of routine include synchronization and visual effect, clean and precise motions, strong pom technique, the incorporation of dance technical elements and dance styles. Visual effects include level changes, group work, formation changes, the use of different color poms, etc person duo- 2 persons Age categories: senior: 14 years old and older each member junior: years old each member children: maximum 13 years old each member CHOREOGRAPHY, MUSIC AND COSTUMING No cheers or chants are allowed. All facets of a performance / routine, including both choreography and music selection, should be age appropriate, entertaining and suitable for all audience members. Inappropriate choreography, costuming and/or music may also affect the judges overall impression and/or score of the routine. All costuming, makeup and choreography should be age appropriate All costuming should be secure and offer full coverage of body parts. Costume malfunctions resulting in team members being exposed may be grounds for disqualification. Shoes must be worn during the competition. Dance paws are acceptable. Jewellery as a part of a costume is allowed. All male performers costumes must include a shirt that is fastened, however it can be sleeveless. PROPS A prop is defined as anything that is used as part of your choreography that is not attached to your costume. Wearable and handheld items/props that complement the choreography will be allowed in the Jazz and Hip Hop Categories. They may be removed and discarded from the body. The Freestyle Pom Category will not allow props, as poms are to be used for % of the routine. If there are male performers in this category they are not required to use poms. No large free standing props will be allowed in any category, such as chairs, stools, benches boxes, stairs, steps, ladders, bars, sheets etc. Any item that bears the weight of the participant is considered a standing prop. TIME Team Cheer divisions a maximum of 2:30 Timing will begin with the first note of the music and end with the last note of music MUSIC on CD, pendrive. Entrance: When teams are introduced, are expected to take the floor as quickly as possible Elaborate choreographed entrances will not be allowed. Exit: At the conclusion of the routine, teams are expected to exit the performance floor immediately. The judges will score the teams according to the judging criteria on a 100- point system
