1 From: Ashburn Youth Basketball League Subject: [TEST] AYBL Newsletter August 26 Test Date: September 1, 2017 at 3:41 PM To: This is a preview . ASHBURN YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE NEWSLETTER In this issue... You will find the information on the following items: 1. Welcome to Emma 2. House League Coaches STILL NEEDED 3. House and Travel Evaluation and Tryout Process 4. House League Evaluation Dates and Schedule WELCOME TO EMMA... Welcome to Emma...AYBL's new league communication and newletter platform. As we previously mentioned, AYBL will be utilizing "EMMA;" a new and unique commuication platform that allows us the ability to create unique and specific communication and announcements both league wide and targeted to a specific group or subset of the total AYBL population. We are still in need of HOUSE League Coaches
2 We are still in need of HOUSE League Coaches We are still in need of house league coaches. The commitment is 90 minutes per week for practice and games largely played on Saturdays. As a head coach, you have input into when/where you practice and garauntee your child a spot in the league. If we do not get enough coaches, we will have larger than desired rosters or be forced to use the timestamp of your registration until we hit the maximum number of players we can support. Log into your SI Play account and sign up to be a head coach today! EVALUATION & TRYOUT PROCESS For the Season there are a few changes to the Evaluation and Tryout process. As we continue to grow as an organization and continually improve our process for evaluating our players and how we ultimately form teams. This season we are modifying the evaluation process to now include a "Gate 1" for all of those interested in trying out for Travel. This means the following steps will occur for those wishing to tryout for the middle school teams at any grade level. As you will see on the calendar below; House evaluations for the Middle Grades (Boys 6,7,8 and Girls 5/6 & 7/8) will occur between September 10th and 18th - all players REGARDLESS of if they wish to play travel or house MUST attend an evaluation session for their grade level. Each division will have 2 scheduled dates. For those that wish to continue on and tryout for the Middle School (travel) Teams this coming season - need to score in the TOP 33% of their grade to continue on to our traditional Middle School team tryouts. The goal of the evaluation process is that they are intended to be competitive; those wishing to tryout for the middle school will need to compete as part of the process just as much as those who simply want to play travel. Additional details regarding the draft process and team formation can be found on our website. High School Division: Evaluations for the Boys and Girls HS divisons will occur in early November to coincide with the LCPS Winter Sports tryouts. Details will be posted in the coming months HOUSE EVALUATION SCHEDULE Below you will find the schedule for the House League evaluations. NOTE: All those intending to tryout for the Middle School (Travel) Team...MUST...MUST...attend the House League evaluations in order to be eligible.
3 Team...MUST...MUST...attend the House League evaluations in order to be eligible. A separate communication will be released at a later date informing those intending to move forward to tryout for the middle school team of their dates and tryout times. Please plan to arrive at your designated time listed below based on the first letter of the players last name and plan to be in attendance for the approximately 60-90minutes. Players should wear athletic clothes and gym shoes.
