A big congratulations also to all of our supportive families and friends, Parent Helpers and Committee. We are proud of everyone for having a go and seeing so many smiles on and off the track and field with lots of fun being had (in the heat), lots of PB s broken and for our U7 athletes who were able to take medals home. We would like to congratulate our 87 athletes who have qualified for Regional Championships being held in February 2019, including 3 of our relay teams. Well done to our 4x100m relay teams who finished the weekend for us, the Junior Girls and Boys won their races, Senior Girls finished 2nd and the Senior Boys 3rd.

Tickets will be on sale for the first couple of weeks and we will then due it once school has returned and most people have returned from holidays. Tickets are only $1 each. With the hot weather and lots of our athletes competing at Gala Days, please remember to keep hydrated and to Slip, Slop & Slap!!!! Training is provided by coaches accredited by Athletics Australia. Our coaches volunteer their time for training, amongst other things for our Club. Please be appreciative that they provide this extra time for our athletes to share their skills and knowledge. It is extremely important, that PARENTS and our older athletes read the information provided to you this Friday in our official Regionals Information letter and on our website.

5 Regional Championship February For all our athletes who qualified from our Zone Championships in December - Regional Championships is being held on 16 to 17 February 2018 (Friday-Sunday). It's going to be an exciting weekend of competition for our 87 Prestons athletes that are attending! It is extremely important, that PARENTS and our older athletes read the information provided to you this Friday in our official Regionals Information letter and on our website. You will also find further information from Little Athletics NSW on the next 2 pages. There is a lot of information regarding: Uniform requirements; Arrival Times, checking into the Club Tent and parking information; Information regarding New Age Physio being available on the Saturday to assist; Required Parent Assistance; and 3 day program listing - it is vital that you check you do not have to be there Friday night for one of your events!!! Please note the weekend cannot go ahead without parent helpers at our allocated event. Every parent who volunteers also goes into the draw for our club raffle to win a Rebel voucher, so a big thank-you in advance for volunteering your time to help out your kids at these Championships. Only Competitors in the Under 11 age group or older may wear spike shoes in events run entirely in lanes, long jump, triple jump and javelin. Please note this does not include the Rubber spikes known as Waffles which any athlete can wear. Spike shoes must only be worn during an event and are not to be worn to and from an event. Final decisions are usually posted about 5.30pm on a Friday. This could be for hot weather, rain or storms. Our Centre adheres to the LANSW s Weather Guildelines. A parent/caregiver, must be at the field at ALL times, this is important if we have to call a Night off after we have started. Do you have skills that could help our Club? 9 Running our Centre is a big job requiring a lot of effort behind the scenes from a lot of people, not just our Committee members but also their families, including their athletes, who go above and beyond to ensure the smooth running of the Centre for all of our athletes. Without naming all involved, please remember the extra effort all these people put in, including: Setting up and packing up on a Friday night (approx. from 4pm to after 10.30pm); Monitoring the weather so that we can notify everyone asap; Line marking all areas of our track and field; Mowing the track and field (2-3 times a week during our season); Updating social media, ensuring information is easily accessible; Ordering food and running of our canteen and BBQ; Ordering uniforms, ensuring registrations are complete and registrations packs ready; Collecting entries for Gala Days; Ensuring all our equipment is ok week to week; Inputting Friday night results week to week (for almost 400 athletes); And anything else that is required for our athletes. This is all done by Volunteers who have families, work and have other commitments outside of LA s but are dedicated to their roles and to helping our athletes. A big THANK YOU to all of our Committee and their families for their dedication, loyalty and hardwork to make our Club what it is and who have continued to work behind the scenes and on the track and field whilst everyone has been on holidays. During our Season, they don t stop, the wheels keep turning on the mower and line marking machine and the computers, recordings, spreadsheets, communications, cameras and minds never stop for the benefit of all our athletes!!!
