1 November 2013 MONSOON MADNESS 2013 By Hank & Samantha Gallo 2013 OFFICERS PRESIDENT JEFF MINX VICE PRESIDENT Don Cook SECRETARY Sharon Maloley TREASURER Doris Minx Pending SGT. AT ARMS Phyllis Petrone Pending The first annual Monsoon Madness All American Cruise to Prescott was a success. In planning a fall show, we were going to have a show in Prescott and started 18 months before the October 19, 2013 show date. Member Buddy had introduced us to Becky with the tourism board in Prescott. It appeared to be more difficult to plan a show that far from home than we had imagined. After much discussion with Jeff, Dave and Scott, we felt everyone had enough of sitting in a parking lot. We enjoy many cruises throughout the year where we caravan to a location and enjoy a meal together. The Monsoon Madness cruise was born. We hosted about 40 cars and 70 people on a cruise that started at our sponsor Berge Ford, took us through Payson with a stop at Green Valley Park, Gingerbread Ice Cream in Pine, through Jerome and on to Prescott. The day began with breakfast at Berge and groups of cars leaving at 9:30am and every 10 minutes after that. This was not a race, but a nice sight seeing trip. It took us past the old Beeline Drag-way (that I had never seen) and to a stop to fill out our first sightseeing test in Payson. After a stop for delicious home made ice cream in Pine we headed for Jerome. Cottonwood has sure grown up since the last time I went through there 10 or more years ago. Our plans changed a little when we arrived in Jerome and found the town packed to capacity. A wise decision was made to press on to Prescott. I don't know if everyone enjoyed the trip over Mingus mountain as much as we did with the top down, but with perfect temperatures it was great.

4 Wounded Warriors 2013 Tour Cont. The Wounded Warriors 2013 Shelby Super Snake passed through Phoenix/Mesa at Berge Ford this past month on October 22nd. George and Sharon Maloley picked up the car in California and drove the car here on October 21st. On October 22nd George took the car to Channel 3 News for a short interview/advertising. The car also stopped at several Sport Clip Haircut Stores throughout the day. In the towards the afternoon and evening the car was driven to Southwest Ambulance and Berge Ford by Dave Jacobelli. The amount of money raised that day was $2, On October 23rd Jeff Minx drove the car down to Tucson for it s next stop. From Sharon Maloley: I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for all your understanding over this past year as I was absent due to my Mother's need of my time. On behalf of my family, we would like to thank you for the generous donation to the WOUNDED WARRIOR FAMILY SUPPORT Organization in memory of my mother, Margaret Harsen. As a proud military wife she would be proud! Your generosity will be remembered always. Sharon Maloley

6 Monsoon Madness 2013 Cont. We thought it might be too early to arrive in Prescott, but chatting with old and new friends and checking in at the quaint St. Michael Hotel. it was 5pm dinner time before we knew it. A brief walk to Murphy's restaurant and we all gathered for a delicious dinner. This place was full of antiques and a friendly, attentive staff. We filled the loft, ate and then Paige and Sara handed out door prizes. We celebrated Dan's birthday with a surprise birthday cake for dessert from his wife Cherie. There were still stores open when we left so many folks walked about the town square. I felt as though I've seen that courthouse somewhere before. Some left for home after that while others settled in for a night in a haunted hotel. Sunday morning we gathered around 8:30am to meet at Wildflower Bakery for breakfast and a car display. Our long time friend and CMC member Don brought over his classic '65 fastback for display as well. He moved to Prescott a few years ago so it was so nice to catch up with him. Any member can make an event happen with the support of their fellow club members. We all work as a team to watch an event like this grow and be enjoyed by so many. I'd like to thank Jeff, Dave, Scott, Bob, Alyce, Tim, Chris, Don, Paige, Sara, Doris, Dan and Cheri for putting this all together. Please forgive any omissions to the others that worked behind the scenes and donated door prizes. Hank and Samantha Gallo

11 Copperstate Mustang Club Christmas Party Our annual Holiday Party is to be held on December 8, 2013 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Doubletree Inn and Suites located at 44th St and Van Buren (420 E Van Buren) in Phoenix, Arizona. There will be a short meeting at 11 am with the luncheon to follow. We expect Santa to be there with gifts for children up to 11 years of age. There was some interest in having a White Elephant Gift Exchange and I would like to know how many people would be interested in doing this. As always we will be collecting food the Food Kitchen at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church. There is a great need for food at this time of year. There are many homeless people who frequent the Food Kitchen also, so if you can, bring canned goods that don't require a can opener. If you would like to volunteer and to voice your opinion on the White Elephant Gift Exchange, contact Becky Field at (480) This is a fun event and I hope many of you will join us for some Holiday Cheer.
