3 RCCC Members,.What a year for the River City Corvette Club! Twenty years ago, a handful of individuals got together because of a common interest and formed what has turned out to be one of the best car clubs in the area. Now with over 150 members and over 100 corvettes, I believe that we will continue to grow and make more friends in the coming years. The year was filled with a variety of events of which there was something for just about everyone. From the Polar Poker Run to the Mini Me Raffle and the joint cruise with the Jacksonville Corvette Club, we seemed to keep ourselves entertained. Thru numerous cruises, car shows, dinners, fund raising events and other parades, we have truly grown as a club. The Corvette world can be a small one at times. While on vacation in Las Vegas recently, we were sitting in a lobby talking and another couple sat down near us and we started some idle talk with them. The gentleman took off his jacket and had a Corvette shirt on. Thru some further conversation, we found that they were from Alabama and he was the president of their club. We exchanged cards and made another friend and possible destination cruise. I believe that we are a social car club and the car is just a common interest. The coming year also holds many opportunities as well. With one of the most successful fund raising years in the books, we are looking for ways to equal or top 2011 numbers. Everyone has an opportunity to contribute ideas for any type of event. In closing, I want to thank everyone that participated in any event that took place this year. Without your participation, it would not have been the great year that it was. Jean and I made some great new friends this year and had a great time at every event, cruise, car show, overnighter, or dinner. Can t wait to get started on Tim Nutz 2011 President 3

4 The new Officers for 2012 were introduced to the club at the annual Club Christmas Party, on December 9! We are all excited about the coming year with such an outstanding crew to lead us onward to bigger and better heights! Under Tim Nutz s 2011 term, the club experienced some of the highest participation in Club history, celebrated its 20th anniversary, and raised more money (most of it donated to the Chattanooga Food Bank) for charities than in all the history of the River City Corvette Club. The club also led its largest caravan of Corvettes ever (well, there was that accidental thing in Gatlinburg!), as host to the visiting Jacksonville, Florida Corvette Club with 45 cars journeying to Fall Creek Falls in October. In addition, the club approved new, updated, more comprehensive bi-laws. President Nutz wishes to thank all of the supporting cast of club members that helped to make 2011 the best year ever. 4

Yes my friends, the River City Corvette Club has won another award! Every month at the Cleveland Cruise In, there we were, representatives of the River City Corvette Club, set up on the corner of the square, selling tickets to the Minime project. The Main Street Cruisers showed their appreciation, as the RCCC was the most supportive group for the year, by presenting us this plaque. Congrats to all the members that participated. 5

6 For those of you that missed, it was a great party, with great food and drink. This year s party was once again held at the Bessie Smith Hall, now a favorite among club members for its room and ambiance. Tim Nutz ran constant video pics supplied by Ron Kellogg of most of he events that club members were involved in, including some rather comedic poses by several members. Mike Nabors said the blessing, and the club enjoyed eating dinner together. The caterer provided excellent, beautiful table decorations and wonderful food, including roast beef and chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and other sides, plus an assortment of desserts. The group partied hearty, and much dancing was led by Robin Peterson, who hit the floor with the very first song, encouraging the others to join in. Exchanges of Merry Christmas prevailed and all had a great time. Just wait til next year! 6

7 Under the cover of darkness, Saturday morning December 3 rd, Tim and Jean Nutz, Linda Ostrom, Joe and Evie Usalis, Bill and Peggy Wiencke, Nolan Baier and Dee, Dennis and Marsha Doebler, Joe and Wendy Rath met at the City Café for an early breakfast. Although the food was a little disappointing, the excitement was high as the Biltmore House itself. At 07:30am five Corvettes headed north on I-75 toward Asheville, NC. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Along the way we past the city of Knoxville, beautiful Smoky Mountain scenery and two other Corvette groups out on a Saturday drive. As we pulled into Asheville the lunch bell was ringing at Rezaz restaurant. The food was good and the conversation was great with much humor and laughter. After lunch, it was onto the Biltmore house and the grand old house was no disappointment! The Oooos and Ahhs were ever abounding. The Christmas theme was everywhere and warmed our hearts. As the sun was setting we moved onto the winery but not before getting all the Corvettes lined up in front of the house for a picture. On the short drive to the winery we picked up a black C-5 convertible from the Bristol, TN area. Although the winery was very interesting we were not able to tour or sample the wines due to the large crowd. By the time we checked into our hotel, we had just one hour to freshen up then it was on to dinner. The Tupelo Honey restaurant was warm new southern fare and enjoyed by all. Great people and great conversation capped the day. Back at the hotel a few of us took part in the fire side story tales until late in the night. After the late night of stories & laughter, 07:00am came early for breakfast then it was back on the road heading home. This time we chose the scenic route along the Nantahala & Ocoee Rivers but not before making three U turns in the wrong direction in less than five miles! Not sure if this is a club record but was assured that it was the norm. Then, after one loop-de-loop The final stop was Logan s Steak House in Cleveland. What is a cruise without one more meal and great conversation? Thanks to everyone who made it such a great success! Only one question remains. Where to on our next adventure??!! Joe Rath 7

8 Our Minime project finally came to an end with the name drawn for the winner at the final Chattanooga Market. Then, on the following Friday, the winner picked up the prize at the Chattanooga Food Bank event and various members of the RCCC met to present a huge check to the Chattanooga Food Bank, perhaps the largest check ever from the club. It included monies from the car shows, as well as ticket sales from the Minime raffle. It makes a club member proud to be a part ofsuch a great club with a great big heart (all the members combined!). Out leadership has been great this year! Through all we ve been through the folks in this club just keep on coming through in the clutches! Looking forward to another great year in 2012!! 8

Intro of new Member - Trent Bourgeois Secretary Carol Kellogg read the minutes from the October 20 meeting. An approval motion was made by Eddy Price and seconded by Mark Peterson. Treasurer Robin Peterson read the Treasury report.. An approval motion was made by Nancy Price, seconded by Larry Harless. OLD BUSINESS Mini-me update: Bill & Peggy Wiencke will be selling raffle tickets at the Chattanooga Market on Sunday, November 20. Ron & Carol Kellogg and Larry & Norma Harless will be selling raffle tickets at the Chattanooga Market on Saturday, December 3. 1,711 tickets have been sold so far. Drawing of name of winner will be on Sunday, December 4 at 3:30. The Jacksonville Corvette Club bought 90 tickets with more than half going to children of deployed military. Tim appreciated Mike Nabors organizing the Jacksonville Group. Tim will send out a link to interested members for their Face Book Page. He is also sending them a picture and a DVD. Tim was approved to buy 250 more tickets. Number range should be Presentation of check to Chattanooga Food Bank will be on December 9 at 11:30 at Chattanooga Market Pavilion. Bring canned goods. Club voted to present a $5,000 check to the Food Bank. An approval motion was made by Mark Peterson and seconded by Pat McKinney. The Hospice Car Show was November 12 on Hwy raffle tickets were sold. By Laws: River City Corvette Club approved the By-Laws as stands. Approval motion by Mark Peterson and seconded by Pat McKinney. Election: Votes need to be turned in by the November meeting. Ron Hasting reported on the Mtn. View Car Show. Great turn out of club members. We had 61 cars. Christmas parades: 11/19 East Ridge (no candy) to leave Northgate at 5:00 to line up on Germantown Rd at 5:30. 12/10 Chattanooga Parade (no candy) meets at 3:00 at Gateway and then drive to designated area. 12/4 Soddy Daisy (candy) meets at the Methodist Church in Soddy Daisy at 1:00, parade begins at 2:00. Ooltewah parade is at 1:30. NEW BUSINESS Christmas Party Friday 12/9. Club can decorate 2 hours prior to party. There will be a slide show for club s events for the past year. Money must be in by 11/28. Ron Kellogg discussed the name tags: $8 color logo with rounded edges, $12 with an epoxy coating. Both types are attached by magnets. Ron if interested. Birthdays for November and December: Norma Harless, Ron Kellogg, Joe Usalis, Betty Morgan, Nancy Price, Linda Ostrom and Wendy Rath. Tim checked at Office Depot for making a club calendar. He will check on an amount. Joe Wrath won the trivia with most questions answer correctly. Ernie Pierce won the 50/50. 10
