From The President s Desk Sorry to say that Punxsutawney Phil, the furry seasonal prognosticator, saw his shadow on February 2nd despite overcast skies, predicting six more weeks of winter. As many of you know we ve had a few nice Corvette Ron Kellogg days this winter. We usually start having some very nice cruising days in March and April. Some cruises we re looking at include the Corvette Expo in Sevierville March 21st and may include a stop by the Applebarn, ETCC Annual Corvette show May 3rd at Reeder Chevrolet and the MTCC Lynchburg Corvette Show. Another nice day cruise would be backroads to Cades Cove. A couple overnight cruises you may want to consider include the Corvette Museum Birthday Bash in Bowling Green April 23-25, the Vettes of the Smokies Show in Bristol June 20th and Corvette Summer in Somerset KY July

From The President s Desk (Cont.) If you have a favorite cruise or car show we would love to hear about it. If you wish to plan a cruise please let one of the officers know so we can make sure it doesn t conflict with something already being planned. RCCC makes every effort to keep members informed. Sometimes due to weather changes decisions to make a short cruise are made at the last minute. When it s too late to send out a we post these cruises in our RCCC face book group page. Planning continues for our 5th Annual Classic Car Show which will be held August 1st at Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge TN. We need your help so please volunteer to make this our best show to date. Remember all of the funds raised at our car shows got to local charities. Save the Wave Ron Kellogg, President River City Corvette Club, Inc.

Corvette Racing Dominates the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona The two Chevrolet Corvette C7.R race teams took to the track for the Rolex 24 at Daytona in the first race of the 2015 Tudor United Sports Car Championship season, the Corvette Racing teams were dominant in the GT LeMans class, taking the class win while the Corvette Daytona Prototype teams put two drivers on the podium in the fastest class. The 2015 Tudor United Sports Car Championship season is a big one for Corvette Racing, as they take to their second year in the C7 Corvette Z06- based C7.R. The #3 and #4 Corvette teams had plenty of success in 2014, but mechanical gremlins on and off throughout the season prevented them from winning the GT LeMans championship. The twin Corvette C7.R teams came into Daytona with a point to prove, and they couldn t have done so with any greater emphasis.

Fast All Weekend The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R teams came into Daytona looking to assert themselves as the top dogs for the 2015 Tudor championship season, and they did so in a big way. The #3 Corvette driven by Jan Magnusson, Antonio Garcia and Ryan Briscoe and the #4 Corvette driven by Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Simon Pagenaud were in the upper half of the field throughout the first two practice sessions and come qualifying, Oliver Gavin laid down the quickest lap of the class in the #4 car. The #3 Corvette wasn t quite as fast, qualifying 5th, but that C7.R was the second quickest GTLM car in the final practice session before the big race. In short, the C7.R Corvette race cars were the odds-on favorites heading into the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Leading Throughout the Race The #4 Corvette started first in the GTLM class and spent the first 12 or so hours either in the lead, or in the hunt for the lead. While the #3 Corvette started 5th, that team quickly worked to the front of the segment and for much of the first half of the Rolex 24, the two Corvettes took turns at the front of the field. Unfortunately, just past the 12 hour mark, the #4 car came to a stop on the track with a flat tire that shoved him back in the field, leaving the #3 Corvette to battle with the best from Ferrari and BMW at the front of the GTLM class. Over the next 6 hours, the #4 Corvette worked its way back to the front of the GTLM field and the Corvettes looked to be ready to battle for a 1-2 finish until the #4 car got tangled up with a slowed prototype car that resulted in fairly extensive damage across the front end. The team had to head to the pits for several new front end components, which cost them 4 laps and put them out of contention for the win. The #4 Corvette finished a very respectable 3rd in class and 8th overall.

The Final Run With the #4 Corvette out of contention for the win, the final few hours had the #3 Corvette battling with the #25 BMW Z4 GTE. These were the only two GTLM cars on the same lap and as the time ran down, the BMW was hot on the heels of the bright yellow Corvette. Fortunately for Corvette Racing fans, Antonio Garcia was able to hold off the storming Bimmer to take the class win by a margin of just under a half second. In the end, the 1-3 finish was an incredible achievement for the Corvette Racing program and this should be the first step to what could be a championship season for the C7.R. Rough Finish in Daytona Prototype The Corvette Daytona Prototype cars dominated the 2014 Tudor championship season and the likes of Action Express and Wayne Taylor Racing were the teams to beat at the 2015 Rolex 24. After being at the front of the field literally all day long, even working through some mechanical issues, the #10 Corvette DP of Wayne Taylor Racing looked like it would cruise to victory over the #02 Ford EcoBoost DP.

However, in the final half hour, WTR realized that they had made a math error and if driver Jordan Taylor had driven to the checkered flag, they would be in violation of the driver time rules. This force Taylor to dive into the pits for a driver change a move which would force them to settle for a very disappointing third place finish. The car was later disqualified for violation of driver time rules. Leading up to the driver change, the #10 Corvette DP certainly appeared to be quick enough to beat the #02 Ford that ended up winning the race. The #5 Action Express Corvette DP battled back from mechanical issues of its own and finished a close 2nd, so barring other math problems, it looks like the Corvette DP teams will be in the run for the championship in By Patrick Rall G Torque News

River City Corvette Club General Meeting January 15, :00 PM, O Charley s Hixson Pike Officers & Board of Directors in Attendance Ron Kellogg, President Yes Bob Seiter, Vice-President Yes Robin Peterson, Treasurer Yes Anna Lane, Secretary Yes Jerry Davis, Board Member Yes Ron Hasting, Board Member Yes Sheila Martin, Board Member Yes Guy Morgan, Board Member Yes Jerry Ray, Membership Chair Yes Members in Attendance: 39 Call to Order Gary Martin made a motion to call the January meeting to order with a second from Parks Hall. President Ron Kellogg called the meeting to order by welcoming everyone to the New Year. Ron stated last year was a great year for RCCC and he is hopeful this year will be even better. Las Vegas Trip Travel agent Teena Broom talked with the group about our plans for a club trip to Las Vegas in early November. Teena stated the first thing we need to do is nail down the dates. She also works with all the Las Vegas resorts directly. At this point it is narrowed down to the first two Thursdays-Sundays in November (November 5-8 or November 12-15). In order to do a group booking we would need to have a commitment for a minimum of 10 rooms in order to make sure everyone can stay together.

If we have less than 10 rooms committed Teena can still work with us but the reservations will be on an individual basis rather than a group commitment. Teena stated she works with several vendors to insure she can get us the best rate. Travel insurance is also available if requested. Shelley Williams will serve as the club liaison and club members interested in participating in the trip should her by February 16, 2015 with the dates they prefer and any other requests they may have for the trip such as shows, tours, use of Sky Miles, rental cars and if they plan to stay longer or shorter than the finalized dates. Majority rules as far as determining which set of dates will be best. Shelley will give this information to Teena so she can work up some options for the February general meeting. Teena stated if we wanted we could include family members. Teena reported in regards to booking the trip the earlier the better for hotel and air. Anna stated she would like the options to be the most cost effective so more club members can go but also stay at a reasonably priced resort on the strip. Teena stated the Monte Carlo, MGM Grand, Bellagio and Caesars are popular options with competitive prices. Once we decide on the dates and hotel options, Teena will do the group booking and members will have a minimum of two weeks, maximum of 30 days to pay their deposit (depending on the requirements at the time of booking). Depending on the vendor the deposit would be approximately $200/person. A final payment date would be assigned and that is usually days before the travel date. Payment schedules can vary (weekly, monthly, lump sum at due date) based on individual needs.

Teena stated when we are ready to book the flight she will need everyone s name as it is listed on the documentation (or a copy of the documentation-usually driver s license) that will be presented at the airport. Should club members have additional questions they can Shelley and she will forward on to Teena. Approval of November Minutes Secretary Anna Lane read the minutes from the November Victor Pettett made a motion to accept the minutes as read which was seconded by Alice Seiter. Treasurer s Report Treasurer Robin Peterson gave the treasurer s report for January based on information given to her by outgoing treasurer, Nancy Price. A motion was made by Tim Nutz to accept the report as presented. This motion was seconded by Victor Pettett. Membership Report Membership Chairman Jerry Ray recognized a new member in attendance this evening, Bill Swafford. The River City Corvette Club has 151 members representing 100 Corvettes. Jerry reminded everyone 2015 dues are due by January 31st. January Birthdays President Ron Kellogg recognized the club members celebrating a birthday in January. They are Gary Martin, Linda McClure, Tim Nutz, Jim Powers, Jerry Ray and Monique Spear. Happy Birthday from the River City Corvette Club! 2014 President Robin Peterson: Year-end Recognitions Robin Peterson, 2014 RCCC President recognized those she served with over the past two years at the Christmas Party

Unfortunately some were unable to attend so she wanted to take a few minutes tonight to recognize Mike Nabors (2103 Secretary and 2014 Vice President), Nancy Price ( Treasurer), Tim Nutz (2013 Past President) and Jerry Ray who has served the RCCC in one way or another since its inception Charity Nominations President Ron Kellogg stated it is time to consider nominations for the RCCC charities for Ron stated the board has agreed to limit the charities to three this year in order to provide each of the charities a larger more meaningful donation. Ron explained as part of the club s partnership with the City of East Ridge to use Camp Jordan for the August car show, we have agreed to the East Ridge Needy Child Fund as one of our sponsored charities. Nominations will be taken from the floor this evening and voted on at the February meeting to determine the other two charities we wish to support this year. Nominations include: Teen Challenge-nominated by Mike Nabors Hospice of Chattanooga-nominated by Larry Harless Mary Ellen Locher Foundation-nominated by Gary Martin Chattanooga Kidney Foundation-nominated by Brian Williams 2015 Poker Run President Ron Kellogg reminded everyone the Poker Run is scheduled for this Saturday, January 15, Tim Nutz, organizer of this event, stated everyone should line up on the street right past Integrity Chevrolet since we have more than 20 cars participating. If you haven t signed up yet but want to attend let Tim know as soon as possible so he can give the restaurant an estimate. Everyone who goes gets a prize and the winner of the poker run will get a prize valued over $200 at no expense to the club. The Poker Run will start at 1:00 and the trip will last 55 miles. He reminded members to bring their radios. Tim also distributed the route/stops for the run.

Valentine s Dinner President Ron Kellogg announced the RCCC Valentine s Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Lakeshore Grille. Ron will send an with the menu and directions. There will be music but it is not finalized as to whether it will be a band or deejay. Integrity Car Shows The dates for the Integrity Car Show are tentatively scheduled for April 11, 2015 and October 3, Car Show at Camp Jordan President Ron Kellogg reported the Car Show at Camp Jordan is scheduled for August 1, 2015 from 9:00am-3:00pm (rain date August 2, 2015). This is longer than our past shows but there will be more activities and more awards. Robin, Car Show Committee Chair, reported there will be atop 50 and 1st and 2nd place awarded in 10 classes. Awards include: Best in Show-Autos Best in Show-Motorcycles Best in Show-Rat Rods (a growing car show presence) Charities Choice Mayor s Choice People s Choice Best Paint Best Wheels Best Interior Best Engine Best Club Participation Robin stated the opportunity to have the show at Camp Jordan is huge. We have the potential for this to be a great money maker for our charities and it will take many volunteers to make this a successful event. Robin reported the car show committee members will be in charge of the following:

Fliers: Alice Seiter Judging: Jerry Davis Vendors: Judy Davis Parking: Brian Williams MC Duties and Door Prizes: Anna Lane Auction Tent: Sheila Martin and Shelley Williams 50/50: Gary Martin and Billie Dempsey Robin reported Anna has volunteered to create a database of car clubs throughout the south in order to publicize the show. Al Cerasi is checking with hotels in the area to provide special rates for car show attendees. Brian Williams is attempting to find experienced judges for the motorcycle class so they can be properly judged. Robin and Ron Kellogg will create a car show shirt using the same vendor as last year since there was positive response about last year s shirts. The City of East Ridge will provide the Camp Jordan Arena and grounds, a huge tent to park cars under outside the arena, tables and publicity. The car show committee plans to meet with Stump Martin at the arena to map out placement of cars, vendors, etc. There will be an area specified for RCCC cars. RCCC cars will be excluded from judging though members who participate in working the show are expected to pay the entry fee since the money goes towards our charities. Approximately two weeks prior to the show all members will be invited to join the car show committee at Camp Jordan to view the site and proposed set-up for the event. As always, a restaurant will be involved. We are hopeful to use this space every year the first Saturday in August but it all hinges on the success of this year s show.

RCCC Annual Picnic President Ron Kellogg reported the club picnic is tentatively scheduled for Saturday October 10, 2015 at the Chester Frost Pavilion. RCCC Christmas Party The Christmas Party is scheduled for December 4, Ron announced he will need volunteers to serve on the Christmas Party Planning Committee and anyone interested should contact him. Armed Forces Parade President Ron Kellogg reported several members have had interest in participating events that honor our veterans. Ginger Maxwell reports there will be an Armed Forces Parade in Dunlap on Veterans Day and Ron stated anyone who would like to participate should let him know. Miscellaneous Club Activities President Ron Kellogg encouraged members to let him know of any events or activities they feel would club members may be interested in attending so he can share the information at upcoming meeting. Ron mentioned in the past trips have been planned for Bristol, Somerset, Charleston, Joplin and Biloxi. Appointed Positions President Ron Kellogg stated the following positions are appointed by the club president and he has asked the following to serve: Alice Seiter-Newsletter Editor Jerry Ray-Membership Chairman RCCC Webmasters-Ron Kellogg and Ron Hasting Facebook Administrators-Ron Kellogg, Bob Seiter and Robin Peterson

501 3C Status President Ron Kellogg explained the RCCC is incorporated. This protects the club as a whole from lawsuits if something were to happen at a club function. An individual of the club could be sued but the entire membership of the club could not be sued as a unit. Board members have agreed it is time to take one step further and pursue the 501 3C organization status with the IRS. This can be a lengthy process and the paperwork to initiate the process has begun. Once this status is granted the club will be tax exempt, able to have raffles and members can claim membership dues on their taxes. RCCC Code of Conduct President Ron Kellogg informed club members that as a growing organization from a membership standpoint as well as the growing presence in the community with our partnership with East Ridge, board members thought it was important to have a club Code of Conduct. Anna Lane drafted the Code of Conduct on behalf of the board and Ron asked Anna to share the document with members this evening. Anna distributed draft copies and read the Code of Conduct to the members. Anna explained she researched Code of Conducts from other car clubs and social clubs for the purpose of drafting this document. Most organizations have a Code of Conduct in place and the purpose of the document is to protect the harmony of the club and its membership. Victor Pettett made a motion for club members to have the opportunity to look over the document and vote on it at the February meeting. Mike Nabors stated he thinks the document should be accepted as read tonight. Victor then withdrew his motion to wait and Mike made a motion to accept the Code of Conduct as presented with a vote tonight. The document passed without any opposition.

Ron explained the registration form will be updated to include a statement that by virtue of joining and paying club dues you are agreeing to abide by the RCCC Bylaws and Code of Conduct. Brian asked if members will be required to sign the document. Ron stated no signature is required on the Code of Conduct however new members joining and current members renewing by virtue of paying their dues are agreeing to abide by the document. Bob added as an organization that does not screen applicants but rather accepts anyone who owns a Corvette it is important to have a document in place to deal with the many and varied personalities that make up our group in order to keep the peace. Buy a Vette Vests President Ron Kellogg reported Buy a Vette provided three vests for Ron to give away. The catch is the only sizes available are 2X and 4X. All the vests were claimed. 50/50 Drawing A total of $130 was collected for the 50/50 drawing with $65 to the winner; Jerry Ray. Adjournment Mike Nabors made a motion to adjourn the January meeting. Everybody else seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Anna Lane
