1 -Cruzes Filipino MasterChef Champion 16 th President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte Paalam, Lino Molina The Filipino Master Chef, an amateur cooking competition, was open to contestants with a passion for experimentation in their cooking, and love combining new tastes and flavours. It was held at the Filipino Australian Association of the Northern Territory (FAANT) community centre in Marrara, Darwin. Edward Napiza Ocampo, with his knowledge of Filipino cooking, won the competition as the NT s top chef in Filipino cuisine. Maputing Cooking Chef Chris Urbano, launched the competition in Darwin, looking for contestants with a fun and playful attitude, love of food and flavour, and a desire to learn about the food and culinary traditions of the Philippines. The competition aims to find talented home chefs, and budding culinary arts practitioners, to help Chef Chris Urbano create the next Filipino NT fusion food creation. The Filipino Australian Association of the NT (FAANT), established in 1973, plays an important role in gathering community members and organizing community events like the Barrio Fiesta, Harmony Day Youth Concert and the anniversary celebration of the Philippine Independence. It manages the Filipino Community Centre at Batten Road. FAANT also provides support services to its members. It is active in promoting social and recreational activities for the community such as its very own basketball league.

3 Balita 16 th President of the Philippines Rodrigo Digong Roa Duterte, ran and won the 2016 election for the office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. He won overwhelmingly with a landslide victory, garnering 16,601,997 votes (39.01% of total votes cast, and 6.6 million votes ahead of closest rival Mar Roxas). Duterte was mayor of Davao City, a highly urbanized city in Mindanao, for seven terms, a total of more than 22 years. He also served as vice-mayor and as congressman for the city. Digong built a reputation in fighting crime and corruption. He has promised a zero tolerance policy against drug traffickers, organized crime, and has vowed to re-introduce the death penalty. Paalam, Lino Molina The first president of the Filipino Association of the Northern Territory (now FAANT), Pastor Lino Arabe Molina, passed away Sunday, 24 April He is the loving husband of Cynthia, father of Meleene, Felino, Sonny, Sue, Tess and Marlo, Grandfather to 17 and great grandfather to 10 children.
