1 1 st Semester Fall/Winter Editor: Rose Ruprecht what do you have in store for us? Hello Everyone, The 2015 school year is well underway and first semester is almost complete. Many alumni have been by to visit and say hi. The newbies have already taken part in our annual Halloween teambuilding event run by our grade 12 athletes. They have learned the ropes and procedures of. Both returning and new athletes continue to dream about World Championships, Olympics, Pan American Games, etc. as they train and compete throughout the school year in their sport. Being in has allowed them to receive the support of the Northview staff to make accommodations so when they return they can get back in the swing of things. Last year Britany was our Award of Excellence winner. Britany is another fine example of someone who was exceptional among a group already set apart. She was on the honor roll each year and competed at the Junior A level in hockey. She earned an athletic scholarship to University of Maine which will begin August A special thanks goes out to our parents who not only provided us with the Halloween treats for our team building event but who are always watchful and supportive in the background. They recognize that their athlete does well when school, sport and home are balanced. Parents checking on marks and at times providing tutoring and ensuring they are seeking extra help contributes to the continued success of their son or daughter. Communication with teachers in school, sport coaches and the athlete at home makes for a well supported athlete.
2 S EMESTER P AGE 2 Speaking of Newbies... School Life The burden of high school is tests, projects, presentations and the never ending assignments. How the heck will we still have time to train? That s what I had asked myself over and over during the summer. Now that we are well into the school year, I m positive that I can answer that question;. During the summer, I completely dreaded the first day of school. I thought that it was going to be a nightmare, just like how all the movies and TV shows made it lool like. However, high school so far is a breeze. makes school an enjoyable part of life that will leave everlasting memories. In, everyone is like your family. Older grades help the nines whenever we ask. Also, all of share the same goals of keeping our grades high while still being able to perform well in our sports. This allows us to support each other and while doing that, we will bond even further. Even though school only started not long ago, has already become my second home, where we can build our nests and feel comfortable. I think that has changed my life not only physically and mentally, but it has also given me faith. I ve learned that whenever you need a shoulder to lean on, or a hand to help you get back up, there will always be someone there to support you along the way. I look forward to the next four years full of obstacles, excitement, and disappointment that will only lead to a pocket full of memories that will last a life time.
