1 Tuesday, May 2, 2017 please read announcements 4 th period ANNOUNCEMENTS Seniors - please congratulate Emily Henn and Mackenzie Knight! These ladies will be speaking at graduation along with Senior Class President Jude Phillips. In addition, Isabella Novak and Rhyan Radabaugh will be singing at graduation as well as the Senior Choir. We had a wonderful pool of talented applicants for this year's Student Government Executive Committee and we thank all that applied. Spanish initiates will be in the Auditorium. French and German initiates will be in the LGI. Please arrive a few minutes early to find your places. Any student interested in running for class officer for must attend a call out meeting TOMORROW, Wednesday, May 3rd during 6th period to get election information. If you need to make any changes to your schedule, please follow these procedures: 1. Pick up a schedule change form in the Counseling Office. 2. Complete it and turn it into your CURRENT counselor's tray in the Counseling Office

2 3. Forms must be completed and turned in BEFORE setting up an appointment to meet with your counselor. 4. All Change of Scheduling Forms are due by Wednesday, May 19th. A Paid Internship in video production is available for any upcoming WHS Junior or Senior at IMMI. Check out this video for more info and contact IMMI by June 3rd! BE IN THE KNOW: Did you know that when you like Westfield High School on facebook, all of our posts do not automatically show up in your newsfeed because of Facebook s very complicated set of rules that controls what people see on their newsfeeds? In order to be informed and not miss any WHS social media news, you can click the See First option under the Following tab and Facebook will let you choose which friends and pages you want to see at the top of your feed. You can also choose to receive notifications from our page when there is a new update. Also, the more you like and share our posts, the more you will see. You can always go to our page and browse our posts any time. Most all of our facebook posts are posted during school hours (including announcements every school day), while our Twitter feed is updated all the time. 3 Seniors: Check out the Westfield Classroom Teachers Association scholarship and WCTA/Vicki Thomas scholarship opportunities on Naviance. The due date for submission is Friday, May 4. Graduation and End of Year Information has been posted on our WHS website for seniors and their families. You can find it under the News Section on the homepage and under forms and documents under the Students/Parents tab. Information will also be ed to each family. Please be sure to read so that you are informed regarding Commencement and the End of Year schedule for all seniors. SENIORS: continue to check Naviance for scholarship opportunities. CLUB AND ACTIVITIES NEWS: Games Club will meet TODAY from 3-4 in the Learning Center. Feel free to join even if you've never attended before! Whether you enjoy playing CCGs, TCGs, board games, or just enjoy spectating, you're sure to have a good time! Creative Writing Club is meeting TODAY, Tuesday (5/2) in Mrs. Torvik's room during period 6! We only have two more meetings this year! Come write with us. The last event for EliteGamingLIVE will be held in Mr. England's room, 1409, TOMORROW, Wednesday, May 3 after school until about 6 pm. ATHLETICS: Girls Varsity Tennis: The Westfield Varsity Girls team won a hard fought conference match Monday night against Fishers. Leading the way was #1 singles Laura Moore with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ashley Justice. #2 singles Chloe Kalis defeated Emily Justice 6-3, 6-0. #3 singles Maddie Heilmann lost to Stephanie Tran 0-6, 4-6. Pulling out the team win was #2 doubles Morgan Clary and Madison Hagerty over Mekenzie Weber and Kat Doan

4 in 3 sets 7-5, 2-6, 6-3. Followed up with #1 doubles Emma Clary and Maya Majors winning their match in 3 sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Girls Varsity Softball: The Westfield Varsity Girls team won a hard fought conference match Monday night against Fishers. Leading the way was #1 singles Laura Moore with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ashley Justice. #2 singles Chloe Kalis defeated Emily Justice 6-3, 6-0. #3 singles Maddie Heilmann lost to Stephanie Tran 0-6, 4-6. Pulling out the team win was #2 doubles Morgan Clary and Madison Hagerty over Mekenzie Weber and Kat Doan in 3 sets 7-5, 2-6, 6-3. Followed up with #1 doubles Emma Clary and Maya Majors winning their match in 3 sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Boys Varsity Golf: The Rocks fell to #3 Carmel by 16 shots on Monday night in a tough night for the Rocks. Senior Noah Shanteau was the low round with 75. Carmel was paced by a 4 under par round of 68 by Kevin Stone. The back 9 was tough for us tonight and we have to find ways to work on finishing our rounds of golf as we get to the halfway point of our season. The Rocks are back in action at Trophy Club on Tuesday night May 2. SCHOOL COUNSELING CENTER: SOPHOMORES: ISTEP testing will continue for many of you this week. These are online tests so students will report to their specific assigned rooms. Here is the plan: 5/3: all students that were in Biology in 2 nd trimester 5/4-5/5: Make-up dates for absentees IOA Summer School Courses Westfield High School is partnering again with Indiana Online Academy (IOA) for Summer School courses. They offer a wide variety of courses, and classes can be completed wherever you are, as long as you have internet access. Registration for IOA Summer School begins on April 10 and goes through June 1. Students will register at Classes run from June 5-July 16, with final exams taken at WHS July Students can take up to two credits during the summer for free. This is a great way to: Get ahead in your credits and make room in your schedule for other classes you d like to take.

5 Earn a higher grade in a class you have already taken. This is particularly important for students working towards the Academic Honors Diploma, who may have earned a D or F in a required class. Recover credits in classes you may have failed or not completed.
