1 BRITISH THEATRE DANCE ASSOCIATION CLASSICAL BALLET ADVANCED FOUNDATION PERFORMANCE MASTERY PLEASE NOTE: This performance mastery programme of study forms only part of the requirements for this examination, Further requirements are detailed in the professional practice programme of study. Candidates must be prepared for both programmes before entering for this examination All vocational grades must be taken in order, a pass must be achieved at Intermediate level before entering for Advanced Foundation 1

2 DRESS CODE: Smart presentation is important to all candidate s entering BTDA examinations; the following dress code should be applied for tap examinations: BTDA does not advocate colour or style of examination dress but it expects candidate s to have uniformity throughout the school. No jewellery is to be worn for the examination. Female Candidates: Classical leotard, colour and style teacher/candidate choice. Classical tights, colour teacher/candidate choice. Soft blocks and pointe shoes. Hair up and away from the face. Male Candidates: Classical leaotard/top, colour and style teacher/candidate choice. Classical tights, colour teacher/candidate choice. Classical ballet shoes, texture teacher/candidate choice. Hair up and away from the face. LEVEL 3 TECHNICAL CRITERIA: Examiners will expect LEVEL 3 candidates to demonstrate SOUND AND ESTABLISHED dance skills, understanding of the required technique and artistry in the performance as per the Assessment Criteria 2

5 INTRODUCTORY NOTES Candidate should warm up before entering the examination room. At the barre When working sideways to the barre the candidate should commence facing the examiner When facing the barre the downstage leg should be the 1st working leg. The alignment of the dancers body within the framework of her own square.
