3 P a g e 3 Dear Contestant, CONGRATULATIONS on being selected as a National Finalists for the South African Championships of Performing Arts The next round of competition will be the final round for the South African Championships of Performing Arts. Please complete your entry form, sign your contract and send it back by post or to our Head Office as soon as possible. ENTRIES MUST REACH HEAD OFFICE NO LATER THAN 30 November NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE! To avoid wrong entries, please complete your entry form correctly. Please note that you can only enter for Events & Styles that are printed on the entry form. E.g. If you do not require a Group Entry or All Event Pass, do not send empty forms back. 1. Take note that Paper printed photos will NOT be accepted. The ID photo can be colour or black and white, but MUST have a white or beige background. PLEASE NOTE: that your entry fee must be paid directly into our bank account. Attach your copy of your bank deposit slip and send it in by post or on or before the due date. NO CASH OR CHEQUES will be accepted. AN ENTRY FORM WITHOUT A COPY OF THE DEPOSIT SLIP WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! To secure that the program will run smoothly, NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted. Please ensure that you deposit the correct entry fee. VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you are not in possession of a valid passport, please apply for one immediately. If you are selected as a Team South Africa Member and you do not have a valid Passport, you will be disqualified from the Team. Your passport must be ready by the South Africa Championships of the Performing Arts The Championships will take place from Thursday 31 st March - 9 th April The Venue will be confirmed soon. A provisional program of all performances will be on the notice boards at the different registration stations on registration day. UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATE: All Contestants that are chosen as TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 2017 and under the age of 18 years must have an unabridged birth certificate. Registration: This is for all the contestants to collect their envelopes containing your contestant numbers, all event passes for your family and friends and to correct any problems with the tentative program. NO schedule booklets will be given out Problems can ONLY be corrected on FRIDAY NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE AFTER DAY OF REGISTRATION! The final schedule will be up ON OUR WEBSITE A WEEK PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. ENTRY FEE CHART FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE PERFORMINGRTS MEANING OF: EVENT means : Acting, Dance, Vocal, Instruments, Modeling STYLE means : Classical, Contemporary, Gospel, Tap etc. CATEGORY means : Solo, Duet, Trio, Small Group, Large Group CATEGORY means : 5-7, 8-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16-17, & 30+ Per Person : P/Person Per Event : P/Event THE FOLLOWING RATES APPLY TO ALL ENTRIES AND ALL CONTESTANTS EACH CONTESTANT will pay a National Registration Fee of R SOLO ENTRIES: ***EXTRA EVENTS AND EXTRA STYLES IN SOLO ENTRIES ARE UNLIMITED*** National Registration Fee for each contestant R Solo entries are allowed to do ANY 5 styles of ANY category. For example: You can do all 5 styles in one EVENT (Vocal, dance, acting etc.) OR you can do 2 x solos in Dance, 2 x solo s in Acting and 1 x solo in Vocal. If you want to enter for more solo s, each solo in any style or any event (after your allowed 5 styles), is R extra per style. EXAMPLE: Debbie is entering a solo for Acting she pays her National Registration Fee of R She is allowed to do 5 styles. Debbie also wants to do 5 extra styles in Modelling, so her cost extra for Modelling will be R Debbie also wants to do 2 extra styles in Acting Duet and 2 extra styles in Acting Small Group, so her cost extra for groups will be R GROUP ENTRIES: ***EXTRA EVENTS AND EXTRA STYLES IN GROUP ENTRIES ARE UNLIMITED*** National Registration Fee for each contestant in a group R Group entries are allowed to do ANY 4 styles of ANY category. If the group wants to enter for more than the 4 styles allowed, each extra item in any style or any event, will be R extra per style, per contestant in the group. EXAMPLE: The Mad Hatter is entering a Small Group (5 people) for Dance they each paid their National Registration Fee of R and they are allowed to do 4 styles. The Mad Hatter also wants to do 2 extra styles in Acting, so their cost extra for Acting will be: 5 (people in group) x R120 (per person) = R x 2 (extra styles) = R (basically R extra per contestant in group).

5 P a g e 5 GENERAL RULES IMPORTANT: CONTESTANTS ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER EVENT Overall Judging Criteria: Special emphasis will be placed on the Entertainment & Marketing value during judging. This in no way takes away the technical aspect of the performances. Judges are looking for that special charisma and stage presence that top entertainers have and who is marketable! Keep in mind, as important as it is to have your performance technically correct, it is even more important to keep it entertaining. Music Rules: NB! ALL VOCAL AND DANCE CD S MUS T B E HANDED IN BACKST AN HOUR BEFORE EACH PERFORMANCE All music must be on a Compact Disk and each song MUST be written in MP 3 format. ONLY CD-R may be used, please not CD-RW. CDs are required to insure the quality of the competition and final show. EACH PERFORMANCE AND EACH BACK UP must be on a SEPARATE CD, in other words ONLY 1 song per CD. Each CD must have a LABEL with contestant (or group) name, event, and style and age division. Example: John Doe, Dance, Jazz, years. EACH CD MUST BE IN SEPARATE CD CASE. PLEASE BRING AT LEAST 2 (TWO) BACK-UP S for each performance. Original music is always encouraged for all styles, categories and competitions in which music is needed. CD LABEL TO BE MARKED AS FOLLOWS: Contestant (or duet, trio or group) : John Doe Event : Dance Style : Jazz Age : Time Limits: The time limit for all performances is NINETY SECONDS! All rounds and the finals are (90) seconds. A 25% deduction will be taken for any performance going over the time limit. Time will begin when your music starts and will stop when the music stops. Remember, you may go under the time limit, but not over! Performance Prompting: ***STRICTLY NO parents, family, friends, agents, hairdressers, dressers, teachers, or make-up artists are allowed backstage before or during the competition. Dance Rules: *** (There is NO limit on the total number of styles a contestant may enter per EVENT) *** All cd s must be mark clearly, if not you will be disqualified. Props props may ONLY be used when the contestant can carry the prop on and off stage by themselves. Judging Categories Stage presence, Originality of material, technique, and style and entertainment value are all considered during the scoring process. Acrobatics & Gymnastic Moves Acrobatic moves and tumbling passes are only allowed in Acro/Gymnastic and Production numbers. Dance should be incorporated throughout the routine. Lip Syncs & Vocalizations Small isolated lip syncs & vocalizations are allowed in all categories. Total song lip syncs should go in the Open category and dance with total song vocalizations in the form of singing, should go in the Vocal Dance category. Ballet a classical and character work performed in ballet slippers or Pointe shoes showing ballet technique whether classical, neo-classical or contemporary. Jazz a routine where dancers execute free from movement and styling characteristic of jazz dance whether in jazz or character shoes of any kind half-soles or bare feet. Tap a routine where dancers wear tap shoes and execute tap technique. Vocal Dance a routine where contestants sing and dance, with at least 50% being dance. Open a routine combining any forms of dance styles or a routine that does not fit any category.

6 P a g e 6 Dance Rules continue: Acro/Gymnastic a routine consisting of controlled acrobatic and/or gymnastic movements involving balance and flexibility. Routine must include choreography, dance technique and fluent movement. (Preference no mats). Lyrical a routine where dancers interpret the lyrics or mood (intent) of a song (with or without words). Ethnic/Folkloric a routine consisting of dance styles of a particular ethnic group. Hip Hop/Funk a routine where the majority of the content is streetwise jazz or contemporary jazz. Musical Theatre/Character a routine interpreting a song from a Broadway or movie musical, or a routine portraying a character from a play, movie, television show or a stereotype (i.e. doctor, policeman, etc.) through any style of dance. Ballroom a routine with partners in the following styles: Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba and Jive! It is a separate category from the normal Dance Event. Production Line Minimum of twenty (20) participants but all of them do not have to be on the floor at the same time. Dancers of all ages and all styles of dance may be used in the production. Singing, props and costumes changes are welcome but must be handled but the group. Vocal Rules: *** (There is NO limit on the total number of styles a contestant may enter per EVENT) *** Your competitions CD s MUST be handed in backstage an hour before each performance. All cd s must be mark clearly, if not you will be disqualified. Props props may ONLY be used when the contestant can carry the prop on and off stage by themselves. Categories Make sure that you enter the correct song under the correct category: Gospel The song has to have a gospel message. Jazz Try and get a song with a proper Jazz beat and proper Jazz instruments. Variety & Open Any song that does not fit in any of the other categories OR if you have for example two Gospels songs, you can sing the one in the Gospel category and the other in Variety and/or Open. World Music Pick a song that is associated with a specific country (a Folks tune). Microphones please keep in mind not all types of microphones may be available. Every effort will be made to accommodate your needs. However, keep in mind a professional performer can make needed adjustments. Vocal Self- Accompaniment (piano, guitar, etc.) includes all 14 vocal styles. Only in Vocal Self-Accompaniment may an instrument be used. In vocal, all music must be pre-recorded on a CD. A pianist (or other) accompanying a vocalist does NOT qualify as Vocal Self-Accompaniment. The pianist (or other) accompanying a vocalist must be on CD. Judging Categories appropriate song and lyrics for age and talent, correct vocal range, pitch and tone, quality, diction, enunciation and elocution, voice projection, strong self-image, body movements, stage presence, handling of microphone, breath control and over all entertainment value. Instrumental Rules: Equipment You must provide all equipment you need including amps and cords. We will provide microphones and sound systems to mic non-electric instruments. Instrumentalists may enter a Solo or a Group. Description of Variety Acts: Three and under props Variety acts using three of less props in the act. e.g. Baton twirler using three or less batons. Four & over props Variety acts using four props in the act. e.g. Jugglers using 10 items to juggle. With Assistance Variety act where the person needs an assistant to perform. e.g. Magician using a female or male to assist in the performance. No Assistance Variety act where the person does not use an assistant. e.g. Magician performing close up magic where there is no need for an assistant. VERY IMPORTANT NO FIRE ACTS WILL BE ALLOWED.

7 P a g e 7 Modeling Rules: Stage Size: The stage is shaped like a backward T. It is approximately 6 feet wide and 21 feet long. You will enter at the top of the runway section of the T then work the cross section. NO MODELING CONTESTANT WILL BE ALLOWED TO PROVIDE OWN MUSIC! MUSIC WILL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL STYLES OF MODELING Props NO PROPS WILL BE ALLOWED Only Solo modeling will be allowed, no group modeling. PETITE SIZE ONLY for 16years + and ONLY for ladies shorter than 1.73m. PLUS SIZE ONLY for 16years + an ONLY for ladies with a bigger build than normal. Modeling Pattern Contestants will enter from stage right, go to the top of the runway, continue down the runway and then to stage left to pose. This is only a suggestion. You may work the runway in your own style. During the spokes model event the contestant will go to the end of the stage and do a maximum of a 60 second commercial, announcement or monologue. You are not allowed to bring in props from the audience. All modeling contestants moving to the final showcase competition will be expected to walk runway style in formal attire. Spokes Models will be considered for finals under the acting category. Runway Casual Clothes should be casual (jackets & pants). No pearls, sequins, rhinestones or feathers. No costumes! Swimwear One piece swimwear ONLY is allowed. No thongs are allowed. Swimsuit MUST cover buttocks. Formal Females: Formal wear should be modest. Remember less is not better. Men: Tuxedos or Black Suits. Photo Modeling When you line up for photo modeling you must have at least one but not more than three (3) photos (black & white or colour) no frames or mats accepted. All photographs must have a typed label with your first and last name, age group and photo release signature from the photographer. During photo modeling you will be asked to stand on the runway, NO modeling! A staff member has the right to disqualify any provocative photos. DO NOT SEND PHOTOS WITH REGISTRATION! Acting Rules: Props props may ONLY be used when the contestant can carry the prop on and off stage by themselves. All acting performances and routines must be in good taste and suitable for families. Routines lacking good taste will be disqualified. Comical may be Stand Up or Variety (comedy routine integrated with magic, puppets, etc.) A comedian can also enter Acting-Comical as another potential category for the comedy competition. Open may be another category for the comedy competition. *NOTE: All contestants MUST be back stage an hour before your actual time of performance. If you are not there by the time we call your name to line up, you will be disqualified. VIDEO S A Videographer will be available in each hall. All orders and payments must be done directly with APPOINTED VIDEO PERSONNEL AVAILABLE NEXT TO THE TRACKSUIT COUNTER. PHOTO S A photographer will be available in each hall. All orders and payments must be done directly with APPOINTED VIDEO PERSONNEL AVAILABLE NEXT TO THE TRACKSUIT COUNTER. PLEASE NOTE THAT BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS CONTRACT THESE PEOPLE OUT. ALL PAYMENTS IS DONE DIRECTLY WITH THEM AND BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS WILL NOT AND DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR VIDEOS AND PHOTOS ORDERED DIRECTLY WITH THE VIDEOGRAPHER AND PHOTOGRAPHER. PLEASE SEE THAT YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPH ORDER FORM WITH THE DIRECT CONTACT DETAILS OF THE VIDEOGRAPHER AND PHOTOGRAPHER. SEE THAT YOU HAVE THEIR TELEPHONE AND DETAILS. BEYOND 2000 WILL NOT HANDLE ANY QUERIES OR ANY CORRESPONDANCE REGARDING THIS!!! NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO TAKE VIDEO S OR PHOTO S IN THE HALLS AT THE SOUTH AFRICA CHAMPIONSHIPS OF PERFORMING ARTS EQUIPMENT WILL BE CONFISCATED THIS INCLUDES CELL PHONES.

8 P a g e 8 Prizes: Medals The 3 highest (depending on the percentage) scores in each Event and Style will receive: 1 ST - Gold Medal - Male & Female 2 ND - Silver Medal - Male & Female 3 RD - Bronze Medal - Male & Female Overall Trophies: Overall trophies will be awarded as follows: Each Event Juniors 5 15 years and Seniors 16 and up Overall age categories will be awarded as follows: 5-10 years, years (Juniors) Male & Female years, years, 30+ (Seniors) Male & Female Best Group & Best School presentation, e.g. Dance School, Vocal School etc. plus R5000 cash prize. Best Province Represented - Will go to the Province most represented at the South African Championships. Best Spirit Trophy - Will go to the Province with the most spirit throughout SA Championships. Grand Champion Awards: A Grand Champion award will be awarded in each event (Dance, Vocal, Acting, Instruments & Modeling). This award will go to the contestant with the highest individual score received at the SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS OF PERFORMING ARTS and will be awarded to a male & female contestant. With this award, each contestant will receive a cash prize of R OVERALL JUNIOR & SENIOR GRAND CHAMPION PERFORMER 2017: This award will go to the 2 contestant, one (1) Junior and one (1) Senior, who received the highest individual score. With this award each contestant will receive a trip to Los Angeles to the World Championships of the Performing Arts for 2017, which includes the following: - In the event of a tie in the Junior or Senior category, the two contestants will share the prize. Return Airline Ticket, Hotel Accommodation for the period of the World Championships, Basic Entry fee to the World Championships. ***All extra s will be on the contestants own account. (Tours, meals, additional entry fees for extra styles, pocket money etc.) - The two Award Winners MUST travel with Team South Africa 2017, if not, they will forfeit the prize. IF UNDER THE OF 18 YEARS IT MUST BE SIGNED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN. THIS FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR OFFICIAL APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED AN OFFICIAL ENTRY TO THE SOUTH AFRICA CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE PERFORMING ARTS I understand that I am responsible for my own transportation to & from the venue where the competition is to take place. 2. I understand that I am responsible for all my meals during the competition week. 3. I understand that I am responsible for my hotel accommodation while traveling to, during and from the competition week. 4. I agree to hold BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS and the South Africa Championships of Performing Arts, the host venue or any other site of official activity and their staff blameless for any loss of personal items, injuries or liabilities while at the South African Championships of Performing Arts. 5. Parents, Family, Friends, Agents, and Hairdressers, Coaches or make-up artists are not allowed behind the stage before or during the competition. (One adult will be allowed to assist minor children in the dressing room). 6. I agree to abide by all rules and regulations established by WATME/IPA and the South African Championships of Performing Arts. In Addition, I understand that BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS and the South African Championships of Performing Arts reserve the right to make changes in competition events, styles, categories, time schedules and any other factor so as to maintain a high quality, professionally produced event. 7. Parents and Guardians will be responsible for their minor children at all times before, during and after the competition. 8. No videotaping or photography is allowed at any competition event. Professional photographers and videographers will cover the entire event. They are private contractors and are not affiliated with BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS and the South Africa Championships of Performing Arts. 9. All photos, videos, paper work and music submissions become the property of BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS during the South African Championships of Performing Arts. We will do our best to see that you received it back in good condition after the South African Championships. It is your own responsibility to collect your music and photos after your final Performance, we will take no responsibility for the loss of CD s and photos not collected. 10. I understand that the decision of the Official Adjudicators is final. No score sheets, points or comments will be available to any contestant or parents during the competition. 11. The prizes are as stated and are non-transferable or exchangeable. No cash alternatives will be offered. 12. The winner s names will be announced publicly through our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter networks, and on our website in our On Stage Magazine and in any publicity relating to this competition. 13. I understand that under no circumstances will any refunds be made. 14. I acknowledge and hereby expressly grant BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS and the SOUTH AFRICAN Championships of Performing Arts and its employees, agents and assign all rights to use my name, voice, likeness and photographs for promotional and advertising and broadcasting purposes including but not limited to photography, video and audio. This may be used at any time and at any place by BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS. 15. This is a National Competition, and I agree to use the guidelines of good sportsmanship before, during and after this competition week. 16. I agree and understand that if I am selected as a member for TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 2017, I will abide by all rules & regulations set by BEYOND 2000 PERFORMING ARTS and WATME (The World Association of Talent Modeling and Entertainment). 17. I agree that if I am selected as a member of TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 2017, I must travel with the team and that I am not allowed to make my own travel arrangements. 18. I agree and understand that if sponsorship for TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 2017 could not be obtained, that I will be responsible for my own sponsorship and all costs involved (Airline tickets, transportation, meals, accommodation etc.) to and from Los Angeles. 19. I understand that if I am selected as a member of TEAM SOUTH AFRICA 2017, I will attend the meeting on Sunday morning to receive my documentation for Los Angeles, if not, I will be disqualified from the Team immediately. 20.
