2 Hi folks Well a year has come and gone and we have had numerous festivals, Jolly Up 15 and 16, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Dieppe, Weymouth, and this is the first club mag since the last one!!!! No excuses, not gonna say my PC wasn t working! My back was killing me or didn t know what to write! 5 Festival 2014 New for 2014 were Pauline Taylor and Frances Anderson all the way from the North East 5
6 Another new comer was David Elison. David has been in the past a team member of the Decorators David seen right helping to launch one of Pauline's kites! Festival
7 Festival 2014 Yet another new comer was Josh Mitcheson, Josh was only 16 at the time and like Carl Wright of Team Spectrum he has mastered the art of flying 3 kites at once as well flying a Revolution to the tune of Ganam Style 7
8 Festival 2014 We were honoured to have The Woods family attend this year. Maria, James, Olivia and their friend Buba Bacon came to Basingstoke to fly Kelvin s beautiful Edo s and Papillon s. I would also like to thank all the flyers who flew Kelvin s kites in the arena display. It showed that he was a much loved man. 8
9 Festival 2014 Ever willing to make the festival a success is of course the members of the Loddon Valley Kite Flyers. Be it in the marquee selling raffle tickets to raise money for the Mayor s charity to helping out and about on the field. 9

11 Mystery Ballet Every year we hold a mystery ballet competition where competitors have to fly without knowing what the music is! You can fly single, two or four line kites, you just have to impress the judges on how well you interpret the piece of music. This year it was won by Chris Goff. Festival 2014 Bob Cruickshanks strutting his stuff Rokkaku challenge As per usual the Rok fight is hotly contested by flyers from both camps, either single line or sports kites. This years competition was won by Carl Robertshaw. Carl receiving his trophy from the Mayor of Basingstoke 11

14 Jolly Up 15 Another excellent turn out for Jolly Up? So much fun was had they forgot to take pictures New for this Jolly up was a zip wire for transporting the fish and chips from the Jolly Farmer up too the field. Lady Isabel sampling,no sorry I mean Judging the home made Gins and Vodkas! Anyway big thanks to Roy Colin and Haley for organising this well attended event, Also big thanks to Linda and Tony for running the bar and all the others for helping out over the weekend. 14
15 Jolly Up 16 Jolly Up 16 started with everyone watching the weather forecast. But apart from a very wet Saturday? morning it held off. And a fun time was had by all. We even got too see Keith Boxall s Polar bear made at the Guy Reynolds workshop. Pete, Liz, Hayley, Joyce and Mike s relation (sorry) enjoying the larks heads ambiance. Thanks again to Roy, Colin and Hayley. And Linda and Tony for running the bar! 15
16 Basingstoke Kite Festival 6 th & 7 th June 2015 At Down Grange Sports Complex, Pack Lane, Basingstoke. From 10am to 5 pm (both days) Come along and help us to celebrate our 23rd Festival and join in the fun! Guests from Home and Abroad will be joining in, and as well as things going on in the display arena, there will be the usual array of activities, along with various Kite & Food traders. A raffle is held over the weekend with lots of donated kite related prizes, donations gratefully received! There will be a theme of INVENTIONS for those who d like to fly theme related kites. On Saturday evening we will have our usual Social Get Together in the marquee, and all are welcome (There is a small fee if you would like to join in with the Buffet, please pre-book and pay on the Saturday morning, from the Raffle Team as available numbers are very limited!) Camping is available on the Friday and Saturday evenings for (payable on the weekend) You will be able to get onsite from 1pm onwards on the Friday, no earlier please! (Council stipulation) There are Showers and Toilet facilities on site. Come along and join in, and we look forward to seeing you there!!! 17 NORTH HANTS KITER S JOLLY UP 17 on Aug 1 st and 2nd 2015 Gate open from 12noon on the Friday Come and join us for another Jolly Up, and another FUN Weekend of Kite Flying for Kite Fliers! The site is located in the village of Cliddesden, just south of Basingstoke (not far from J6 of the M3). On site camping is available from Friday midday onwards ( 8 per tent/camper for Fri and Sat evening) Fish and chips available on the Friday evening (via the zipwire!) from 6am to 9pm The Saturday evening BBQ works well, so we will doing the same format. Tickets available on the weekend ( 7.00 and please bring your plate and cutlery where possible!!) Please note we do have a limited number!!!!!! We will be doing Jacket Potatoes and fillings at lunchtimes, and Bacon rolls will be available both mornings. The Auction will be held on the Saturday evening, and any donations gratefully received on the Saturday (before 4pm please to give us time to set it all up and Hayley to sit down for a bit :-) We will also run the Competition for Garden Produce, which can cover fruit, veg, plants, anything really. Show us what you ve been growing, it may win a prize. Rules are minimal and made up on the day! There is the category for Home Made Hooch again!! Roy Martin s Sled competition will take place (to contact him directly please) We hope to run the Beer Lift competition, same rules as before. Roy s Refreshment Tent will be open for Business, normal rules apply.. 18 Festival 2015 Hi folks Don t forget to come along to the Jolly Farmer on Wednesday 3rd June 8pm If you want to help out at the festival (helpers get a ticket for the Saturday evening bash) if you can t make it and still want to help out just me at alan@basingstokekitefestival.org.uk Although we have more Kite traders these days we are getting a bit thin on the ground for raffle prizes, so this year we are asking club members to have a look in their cupboards for stuff (kite related we hope) to donate, as always the profits go towards the Mayors Charity, so if you would have a look we would be most grateful.
