1 SCPA Company Groups Season Please read: For each level there is a specific number of groups. Not all dancers in each level are in every group. All dancers have been included in the minimum of 2 dances. (Unless one of those styled choices has been dropped by a parent, then it is possible your dancer is in only one dance.) In addition, if there were not at least 4 dancers selected for an 'extra group choice' dance then this dance was dropped. (Less than four dancers is a trio, not a group.) Distinctions have been made to highlight certain dancers in smaller groups and/or guest choreography. If your dancer is not selected for these more difficult dances, it is because they are not yet ready to be featured in a small group and/or were not selected by Keri LaGrand at the audition process. To be helpful, at the end of each level, you will find an inventory of groups. Understudy dancers will be selected through block rehearsal sessions. Talia s Tribute dance will alternate between our teen and junior teams. This year will be with our juniors. Details under group #11. Important Reminder: Dancers cannot miss more than 50% of assigned choreography sessions for each dance assigned. Dancers who will miss more than 50% of choreography sessions will be dropped from that dance. Guest Choreographers: Keri LaGrand, Derrick Schrader and Kelley Guise Palin pieces will be choreographed after the month of August. SCPA will do its best to avoid date conflicts given to us, but cannot guarantee to do so as guest choreographers schedules have the priority. Families will be notified as soon as these bookings happen and our 50% attendance for choreography sessions still applies. However, if a dancer must miss a session with a guest choreographer, this dancer is required to arrange a stand in for themselves and notify faculty who their stand in is.

16 Concerning Group Rehearsal Absences: Developing group choreography, competitiveness and dancers ability to be consistent makes it absolutely necessary to have all dancers present at group rehearsal sessions. If school studies make it necessary to miss training classes, dancers should not miss rehearsal sessions. SCPA is realistic that there will be occasions when a dancer misses rehearsal sessions. Any reason beyond illness, injury status approved by a Director, or an emergency circumstance, will be viewed as an 'unexcused absence'. Lack of communication around an absences will also result in being classified as an 'unexcused absence'. Each dancer has been assigned 8 allowable 'unexcused absences' where parents/dancers can take advantage of a concert or open house at school etc etc. However, this is prior notice that more than 8 'unexcused absences' will not be accommodated. Our commitment is to the success of our Company groups and choreography work. This is seriously compromised when numerous dancers, individually, are being inconsistent to group rehearsal sessions. Though SCPA choreographers are incredibly talented we are not magicians. Maximum eight allotted 'unexcused absences' per dancer spans the entire season. September 2018 through June Plan accordingly. SCPA Company Solo/Duo Season NOTE: All solo/duo work choreographed by Guest Choreographers (Lacey, Keri, Derrick and Brittany) are to be paid in full at the start of choreography. (This is different than our in-studio choreographers who are paid over a period of time. See below.) Keep in mind, Guest Choreographers are paid for their choreography only, not for the amount of time it takes to complete a solo/duo. Guest Choreographers can complete a solo/duo in two to three hours, depending on how articulate dancers are at retaining material taught. As with our in-house choreographers, rehearsal session need to be booked by dancer s parent. Any in-house faculty can rehearse Guest Choreographer s solo/duo acts, you need only to search availability and book with whomever you prefer to rehearse your dancer. Rehearsal consistency is best for optimum development of material and a polished finish to solo/duos. Disclaimer: If dancers forget choreography or are not considered event ready by us Directors, solo/duo work could possibly be dropped or held from competing at event(s) altogether, without refunds for choreography/rehearsal sessions.
