From 2014 on we have created 4 new levels - 6 PLUS, 7 PLUS, 8 PLUS & 9 PLUS The intention of these 4 new levels is to aid a gymnast to become a higher standard in FIG than the general levels. These levels are suited to the more talented gymnast providing a route that would be specifically targeting a gymnast s training and pathway. Gymnasts ideally would be training over 10 hours a week and aiming for National squads and International selection A gymnast can progress through the levels on as many apparatus as they wish. We would however encourage as many people as possible to work all 4 apparatus LEVELS COMPETITIONS Level 1 Regional Team National Finals. (Includes Level 1A, 1B, & 1C) Level 1 Club Teams competition. 30 NOTES: Level 2 Floor Routine is a SET Routine with no music and it can be performed on a strip of mats or on a Sprung Tumble / Ski Run Floor routines are performed to music from Level 3 onwards. This should not pose a problem to Clubs or Regions, as they can use the same music & or the same or similar routines for all their gymnasts if they wish. The elements are set, but we would hope to see a lot of variety in the dance & connections.. When constructing the floor routine, please bear in mind the age/maturity and ability of the gymnast. From Levels 3 9 & 6 Plus 9 Plus, the Floor routines will be Voluntary Routines to music with SET elements. The elements can be performed in any order and should be connected with dance. There is a Start Value given to each Routine/Apparatus from which the Execution Deductions are taken. FIG Artistry deductions, Specific Apparatus deductions and General Execution deductions will be applied at all Levels, along with some additional Levels only deductions which are detailed later in this document. The length of the Music for Level s 3-5 cannot exceed 1 minute. (FIG deduction will apply if over time) The length of the Music for Levels 6 9 & 6 Plus 9 Plus cannot exceed 1 minute & 30 seconds. (FIG deduction will apply if over time). From this year on MP3 format will be required for all National Competitions. The music for all Finalists must accompany their Entry to the GI Office (instructions will be given to Regions in due course). A backup copy of each gymnasts music must also be brought on a CD (x2) (No Tapes allowed) and each gymnast must have their own CD (sharing CD s between gymnasts is not allowed). Clubs or Regions can use the same or different music and or routine for each Gymnast. From Level 3 upwards, if a Square Sprung Floor is not available at Regional Level, (& possibly National Finals), the Floor Routines should be performed on a sprung Tumble / Ski Run.. The Beam routines are also set elements/requirements that should be linked with dance & posses The maximum length of a Beam routine is 1 minute & 30 seconds (FIG deductions apply if over time)

Elements may be connected to each other and additional elements may be added, but should only be put in if they can be performed cleanly and without faults. On Vault the gymnast is required to perform 1 Vault. Two attempts are permitted if on the first attempt the gymnast has not touched the springboard, vault or run underneath the vault. As per FIG. From Level 6 onwards 2 springboards are permitted but the use of same will incur a penalty of 2.00 marks. At National Finals, the Teams in Level 1 should compete in a Regional Leotard. All other levels may compete in regional leotards. (Not compulsory). If the Region have enough leotards, it is recommended that they compete in regional attire. Gymnasts in Level 7-9 (in the All-Around competition only), will compete under their club name, but must still qualify through their Region. (3 per age group per region) Gymnasts in levels 6 Plus 9 Plus will compete under their Club names. They don t have to qualify through their Region but they must compete at their Regional Competition for a Score. If they lose 5.00 marks or more in deductions on an Apparatus, they may not compete on that Apparatus at the National Finals on this occasion. The Beam height for Levels 2 6 is set at 115 cm for all Age Groups. The Beam Height for Level 7, 8 & 9 & 6 Plus 9 Plus is set at 125 cm for all Age Groups.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL CLUB TEAM S COMPETITION RULES Gymnasts that are competing at Level 6, 7, 8, & 6 Plus may enter this Team competition as part of their Clubs Team. After a gymnast competes at Intermediate Teams she must compete in Level 6 or higher. Gymnasts that have competed at FIG National Team Championships are not permitted to enter this competition. Gymnasts that have competed internationally representing Ireland may no longer compete in this competition. Gymnasts that have scored or higher in this competition may not compete in this competition again. Gymnasts should only compete on apparatus where they are able to safely complete the requirements. Each Club may enter 1 Team with a maximum of 7 gymnasts on the Team. (Open age) 5 gymnasts may perform their routine on each apparatus and the top 3 scores will be added together to give the Apparatus total for the Team. The 4 Apparatus Totals determines the Final Team score. The length of the Music for Floor routines cannot exceed 1 minute & 30 seconds. (FIG deductions will apply if over time). From this year on MP3 format will be required for all National Competitions. The music for all Finalists must accompany their Entry Form to the GI Office. Also each gymnast must have her own back up CD (x2) (No Tapes allowed) One CD for multiple gymnasts will not be accepted. The floor routines will be competed on a square 12m floor. The maximum length of the Beam routine is 1 minute & 30 seconds. (FIG deductions will apply if over time.) Beam Height will be set at 125cm as per FIG Vault Height will be set at 125cm and only 1 Vault is permitted. (2 springboards may be used, however, this will result in a Penalty of 2.00).

MOVING BETWEEN THE LEVELS Only Gymnasts that have never competed in the past can compete in Level 1A. (Level 1A Club Team comp doesn t count) When a Gymnast enters this structure, at a suitable Level, she may never move back a level - i.e. if a Gymnast enters Level 4 in the All-Around Championships, she must continue to compete at Level 4 or higher in the All-Around Championships (subject to the rules below). For this Year ONLY, any gymnast that competed at Level 5 last year may move back to level 4 this year. For this Year ONLY, medal winners from Level 5 last year, may do level 5 again this year. In Theory, there is no limit as to how many Levels a Gymnast may move up. (She should only move up if she has achieved a reasonable score at the level she is at.) In Level 1A, 1B & 1C o A Gymnast may only ever compete at Level 1A for one year and therefore must move up a Level the following year. o In Level 1B & 1C all Medal winners at National Finals must move up a Level the following year (i.e. all members of a medal winning Team must move up a level the following year). Level 1 rules do not apply to the Level 1 Club Teams Competition. In Level s 2 6 National All-Around Championships:- o All Medal winners at National Finals must move up a Level the following year. In Level 2-6 Individual Apparatus Championships:- o All Medal Winners at National Finals must move up a Level the following year with the exception of the following:- A Gymnast may stay at the same Level the following year but will not be eligible to compete on the Apparatus in which she meddled on the previous year (i.e. A Gymnast wins a Bronze medal on Vault in 2013 in Level 6. In 2014 she wishes to remain in Level 6, which she is allowed to do, however, as she won a medal on Vault the previous year, she may only enter Level 6 on A-Bars, Beam & Floor Competitions i.e. she may not enter Vault in 2014 as she won a medal on Vault in 2013).

Gymnasts may compete in different Level s in each of the competitions i.e. o A gymnast may compete in Level 3 All-Around Championships and may compete in Level 4 Apparatus Championships. (if your gymnast is an Apparatus Specialist she could end up in a higher Level in the Individual Apparatus Championships in comparison with the All-Around Championships). However, the Level at which a gymnast competes at in Apparatus Championship must be equal to, or higher than the Level she competes in, in the All-Around i.e. a gymnast cannot do Level 4 in the All-Around competition and then to Level 3 in the Apparatus Competition after. o o o However, if a gymnast competes on all 4 apparatus in the Apparatus competition, she must then compete in at least the same Level in the All-around the following year. For this Year ONLY, any gymnast who competed in the Level 5 All-Around or Apparatus Competition last year, may go back to level 4 this year. For this Year ONLY, Medal Level 5 last year, may stay in Level 5 this year. Levels 6 Plus - 9 Plus For this year only, gymnasts that have competed at any Level of the General Levels may enter the Plus levels at any level From next year on, if a gymnast competes in Level 9 and then wishes to transfer to the Plus Levels, she must enter at Level 7 Plus or higher. Any gymnast that has competed in a FIG level competition and scored less than 38.00, may enter the Plus levels at Level 6 Plus. Any gymnast that has competed in FIG level and scored more than must enter the plus levels at Level 7 Plus or higher. If a gymnast wishes to move back to the General levels next year after doing Level 6 Plus, she must enter at Level 8 or higher. If a gymnast competes at Level 7 plus this year and wants to go back to the General Levels, she must go to Level 9 or higher. (FIG) Gymnasts who have medalled two years in a row on an Apparatus MUST move up to the next Level the following year. Gymnasts who lose 5.00 marks or more in deductions on more than 1 Apparatus at the All-Around should not move up a Level the following year (i.e. 4 out of 5, or 5 out of 6 of their Apparatus must have less than 5.00 marks in deductions). Gymnasts who lose more than 5.00 marks or more in deductions on an Apparatus may not move up a level the next year on that Apparatus and may not compete at National Finals.
