2 2015 Regional Figure Skating Championships 2015 Qualifying Competition Season TECHNICAL ANNOUNCEMENT 1. GENERAL The 2015 U.S. Figure Skating qualifying competition season consists of a total of 13 events. These include 12 qualifying events (nine regional championships, three sectional championships), and the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior and senior). All 13 events are sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and conducted according to the most current U.S. Figure Skating rulebook, edition, with changes and clarifications as posted on the U.S. Figure Skating web site and this announcement. Compliance with these rules as updated or amended is the responsibility of the participants. U.S. Figure Skating reserves the right to incorporate revisions to the international judging system (IJS) made by the ISU for junior and senior events and by U.S. Figure Skating to novice events and below. The qualifying and national championship competitions are only open to competitors who (1) Are current members of U.S. Figure Skating (2) Meet the eligibility requirements according to U.S. Figure Skating Rule 2211 (3) Meet all age and test requirements pertaining to the event to be entered and (4) Meet the citizen and residency requirements as stated in Rules and ICR 6.09 of the U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook. Please note amendments have been made to the requirements for returning U.S. skaters as well as non-u.s. skaters wishing to compete. Consult the rulebook to ensure you complete the necessary requirements. Important Notice regarding coaches for all qualifying competitions (Regionals, Sectionals and U.S. Championships) To be credentialed as a coach at a U.S. Figure Skating qualifying level competition, a professional coach or choreographer must: Be declared by a skater at the time of the registration process with U.S. Figure Skating (July 15- Sept. 1, 2014) Listed as Coaches Education Requirement (CER) Category A compliant for Current with Coach Registration (requires annual fee and background check) A current member in good standing with U.S. Figure Skating A current member in good standing with the PSA A coaches requirements chart can be found here: Each local organizing committee (LOC) will be provided with a list of coaches who are cleared for a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. Coaches who are NOT on the list will need to show proof of membership in both U.S. Figure Skating and the PSA, a Coaches Registration card, proof of Category A compliance in CER, and a photo I.D. at check in. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential no exceptions. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them. Important Notice for All Pairs and Dance Teams All pairs and dance teams will begin their qualifying season at their respective sectional championships (unless they have been notified of a bye advancing them directly to the U.S. Championships). These events are no longer offered at the regional championships.

4 2015 Regional Figure Skating Championships 2. REGISTRATION A. METHOD Online Electronic Registration (Required) Online registration is the ONLY method available for entry into the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating qualifying competition season. Registration opens July 15, To enter online into the 2015 qualifying competition season, proceed in the following manner: Log on to Input your membership number and password o If you do not already have a password, go to first and follow the online instructions. If you are experiencing difficulty with the online registration, please the U.S. Figure Skating Member Services Department at memberservices@usfigureskating.org or call the U.S. Figure Skating main number at B. DEADLINES The entry deadline for the 2015 qualifying competition season is 11:59 p.m., Sept. 1, The time zone of your primary residence/principle training center (juvenile, intermediate) or home club (novice, junior, senior) will determine the entry deadline of 11:59 p.m., Sept. 1, NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DEADLINE. Juvenile and Intermediate Singles Competitors ONLY: During the online registration process, you will be given the option to input your principle training center if you wish to compete out of the region you train rather than the region in which your primary residence is listed. The following guidelines must be followed: You must train at your principle training center at least six (6) months and one (1) day during the calendar year to be eligible The region you select is binding (whether it is based on primary residence or principle training center) and cannot be changed. Age requirements must be met by Sept. 1, Test requirements must also be met by Sept. 1, Provisional entries based on passing a test after the closing date of entries will not be accepted. Please refer to U.S. Figure Skating Rules for further testing information and guidelines. *Skaters entering a singles event in addition to a partnered event must enter a regional championship within the section they have chosen for the partnered event. C. ENTRY FEES All competitors entering the 2015 qualifying competition season must submit payment of the $175 entry fee to U.S. Figure Skating. All competitors are required to pay both the entry fee into the qualifying competition season (for each event entered) and an administration fee, which is $10.

Competitors will receive a letter on-site at their regional championships from the LOC and a post-event from headquarters outlining the payment process. Note, this total will NOT automatically be charged using the same credit card used to pay for entry into the qualifying season. Skaters receiving byes or who advance per the four or fewer rule will NOT incur any additional entry or administrative fees. ENTRY FEE BREAKDOWN for 2015 QUALIFYING COMPETITION SEASON Regional Sectional U.S. Championships Championships Championships Singles Skaters $175 $175 N/A Pairs and Dance Teams N/A $175 N/A Your registration is not considered valid until all appropriate entry and administrative fees are paid and all required forms (including the planned program content sheet) are completed online to U.S. Figure Skating. Please note, if payment has not successfully settled (NSF) by September 10, 2014, the skater will be withdrawn from the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Qualifying Season. D. PAYMENT Online payment via credit card or e-check is the ONLY accepted form of payment. For those competitors advancing to the sectional championships from the regional championships, entry fees are required within 48 hours of the close of your qualifying regional competition. Competitors will receive an advancement letter on-site outlining the payment process.if you have any questions, please contact Mia Corsini at mcorsini@usfigureskating.org. Once entered, all withdrawals are considered final. A skater may not reenter even if the withdrawal occurs prior to the entry deadline on Sept. 1, Please note: refunds are not given for any reason. *If you need to withdraw, you must send an to Mia Corsini at mcorsini@usfigureskating.org, with your name, U.S. Figure Skating membership number, event in which you were entered (i.e. Junior Ladies) and the competition from which you wish to withdraw. E. BYES No medical byes will be considered. Competitors awarded a bye to their sectional championships or the U.S. Championships will receive official notification in writing from U.S. Figure Skating. All competitors wishing to compete in the 2015 qualifying competition season, including those who receive a bye, must enter by the Sept. 1, 2014, deadline. Please refer to the most recent U.S. Figure Skating rulebook for details on byes.

6 2015 Regional Figure Skating Championships 3. TECHNICAL DETAILS A. CONDUCT OF EVENTS For the 2015 season, all events and levels at all championship competitions (regional, sectional, U.S. Championships) will be conducted in accordance with the international judging system (IJS). Check the U.S. Figure Skating website for technical and/or rules updates at B. AGE AND TEST QUALIFICATIONS All age and test requirements can be found in the U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook starting with Rule 4200 (senior singles). The rulebook is available online at C. TECHNICAL ELEMENTS The well-balanced program charts for all levels and disciplines are posted on the U.S. Figure Skating web site at As referenced earlier in this announcement, U.S. Figure Skating will incorporate all changes made by the ISU with regard to wellbalanced programs. Please refer to this web site often for continuous updates. PLANNED PROGRAM CONTENT SHEET (Required component) All competitors entering into the 2015 qualifying competition season are required as part of their online registration to submit a planned program content sheet (PPCS) detailing the elements in their program(s). You may update your PPCS at up to two weeks prior to the start of your competition. You will not be allowed to receive your credential at registration until your PPCS is submitted. D. MUSIC COMPETITION MUSIC INFORMATION (Required component of online registration) U.S. Figure Skating requires all competitors to fully complete a competition music information form as part of the online registration process. The following information is required for each piece of music used in the composition of the short program/dance and free skate: composer, orchestra, duration of music, record label/number (optional but highly recommended if obtainable). COMPACT DISCS (CDs) For all qualifying events during the 2015 season, CDs are the only acceptable media. CDs must be: Clearly marked with name (last name, first name), event entered and the music time/length. Each CD must have only ONE (1) track on it. In the case of a short program/dance and free program, two (2) separate discs must be used. Any disc with more than one (1) track will NOT be accepted! Lead in time (time before the music begins) on CDs may not exceed two (2) seconds. Due to compatibility and reliability reasons, music may NOT be submitted on re-recordable "CD- RW" discs. Each CD must be turned in - in a paper CD sleeve with a see through window (obtainable at any office supply store), also labeled with the skater s name and event. Standard hard plastic jewel cases or other CD holders are no longer acceptable. CDs that are not properly identified will NOT be accepted. Competition music must be turned in at the registration desk at the time of registration at Regional's (or Sectional for events that do not compete at Regional's). Competitors will not receive their

7 2015 Regional Figure Skating Championships credentials at registration until they turn in their music. The originals will not be kept and forwarded on from Regional's to Sectionals to US Championships; rather the Music officials will make digital copies at each event to pass the music up to the next level of competition. The music CD s will be returned to the competitors at the end of their final event. Each competitor that qualifies for Sectionals or the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships will be required to bring CD copies to the next event as backup. Skaters receiving byes to the U.S. Championships are required to their competition music no later than one (1) month (Thursday December 16, 2014) prior to the start of the U.S. Championships to the following address: Pete Zurlinden U.S. Championships Music Tech pzurlinden@sbcglobal.net All competitors must have at least one (1) additional CD copy rink-side at practice sessions and during the actual competition event. Skaters receiving byes must also bring CD copies of their music to the event as backup. The LOC will accept no responsibility for damage or loss. CDs not picked up by the end of the competition are not the responsibility of the LOC and will not be returned to the competitor. E. SEEDING AND QUALIFYING ROUNDS AT REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Any skaters who are added to an event due to unforeseen circumstances will be added to one of the groups (which group will be at the discretion of the chief referee) up to 24 hours before the start of the first qualifying group in that event. No reseeding or reassignments between groups will be made after the competitors are notified of their qualifying groups. Posting of the start order will be on the LOC website or the arena. The official schedule of events will be posted at the competition. F. OFFICIAL BULLETIN BOARD/EVENT WEBSITE The official bulletin board and event website will contain any announcements or changes, and it is the responsibility of the competitors to check often for official notices. Please refer to the local portion of the announcement for further information regarding the bulletin board and event website. 4. ADVANCEMENT TO SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS/U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS A. QUALIFIERS SINGLES COMPETITORS All singles competitors advancing to the sectional championships or the U.S. Championships will receive instructions for downloading the specific event announcement from for the competition to which they have advanced. For every competitor, all information required to be sent to the sectional championships or U.S. Figure Skating Championships local organizing committees (photos, practice ice requests, etc.) must be postmarked no later than the deadline on the respective form. For those competitors receiving a bye to the sectional championships, you will receive either instructions for downloading the announcement or your announcement via and must follow the deadlines set forth by the LOC.

ALTERNATES Skaters placing in fifth and sixth place (unless there are fill-ins) at the regional championships in the juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior and senior singles events will be designated as first and second alternates. These competitors will be provided access to an event announcement as they may be selected to compete up to 24 hours before their competition event. Alternates DO NOT need to mail in any paperwork or required forms unless contacted by U.S. Figure Skating. 5. INSURANCE/LIABILITY A. LIABILITY U.S. Figure Skating, the host club(s) and/or interclub association, the organizing committee, and the ice arenas being utilized for these events accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in these championships (U.S. Figure Skating Rule 1600). 6. ANTI-DOPING Anti-doping tests will be conducted at the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, held in Greensboro, N.C., Jan , Anti-Doping testing will be conducted in the Senior-level events only and consist of the top four place-winners plus one random selection for each discipline. 9 2015 EASTERN GREAT LAKES REGIONAL FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS GENERAL INFORMATION The 2015 Eastern Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships will be held from October 11 th -14 th, 2014 at Centre Ice Arena located at 1600 Chartwell Dr. Traverse City, MI The championships are sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and hosted by the Traverse City Figure Skating Club. The entry deadline for the 2015 Eastern Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships is 11:59p.m. September 1, REGISTRATION ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED AT ONLINE REGISTRATION IS THE ONLY METHOD AVAILBALE FOR ENTRY INTO THE 2015 QUALIFYING COMPETITION SEASON. For additional information, check out the competition website at the following link: After the close of entries, September 1, 2014, there will be absolutely no entry fee refunds, unless an event is canceled. There will be no refunds for practice ice or credentials for any reason other than an event being canceled. ARENA INFORMATION Centre Ice Arena: 1600 Chartwell Dr. Traverse City, MI Centre Ice has two ice surfaces, West Rink and David s Rink. All qualifying events will be held on West Rink. The ice surface sizes are 85 X 200. The arena has free parking, a snack bar, and a pro shop. A total of 20 dressing rooms will be available to skaters. Centre Ice can be contacted by calling or you can visit their website Howe Arena: 1213 W. Civic Centre Dr. Traverse City, MI Howe Arena has one ice surface at 85 X 195. Free parking and a snack bar are available. Six dressing rooms are available. Howe Arena is located 5.6 miles from Centre Ice Arena. This arena will only be used if necessary for practice ice.

10 REGISTRATION The official registration desk will be located in the main lobby of Centre Ice Arena upon entry to the building. Registration will open Friday, October 10 th and will remain open throughout the competition. Specific hours will be determined by the final schedule and will be posted on the website. All skaters are expected to be in the arena one hour prior to the start of their scheduled event. BULLETIN AND NOTICES The official bulletin board will be located at the registration desk. The official schedule of events will be posted on the official bulletin board and will supersede all other schedules. It is the responsibility of each participating competitor and coach to check the official bulletin board for all official information. Notices posted here are considered sufficient notice to all teams. All participants must check the official board frequently. AWARDS Medals will be presented to athletes in first through fourth place in each qualifying and championship event. Trophies will be awarded to the champion in each championship event. Awards will be presented at times designated on the official bulletin board. ADMISSION The 2015 EGL Regional Championships will be open to the public. All-event passes are available for $35, and daily tickets are $10 per day. Children 10 and under are free. Seniors, 65 and over, with proper ID will be charged $25 for all event tickets or $5 per day. See FORM QC for details. CREDENTIALS Each athlete will receive complimentary credentials for 1 chaperone and 1 designated approved coach. The credentials are marked with the individual s name and are non-transferable. You must have credentials to enter the West Rink at Centre Ice Arena, the warm-up area and the locker rooms. One additional chaperone and coach credentials may be purchased at the registration desk. Additional chaperone and coach credentials badges are $35. At the time of registration, AFTER competition music has been turned in, each competitor will receive their credential badges for themselves and their chaperone(s). The competitor s coach will pick up their credential badge separately at check-in. A photo ID must be shown by all chaperones and coaches when the credential is picked up. BADGES are non-transferable!

11 Badges must be worn at all times while in Centre Ice Arena. Any lost badges will be replaced for an additional charge of $35 per badge. PHOTOGRAPHY Roger Knight (Knight Photography) will be the official photographer. Action photos as well as podium photos will be available for purchase at the event. Please note: Flash photography of the competition, including practice ice, is strictly prohibited per U.S. Figure Skating policy. VIDEOGRAPHY The U.S. Figure Skating Production Team will serve as the official video provider for all qualifying competitions this season. To order video for the 2015 qualifying season, please visit and enter your address. All competitors will be notified when videos are available to preview and purchase. Please note: videotaping of the competition, including practice ice, in any form is strictly prohibited per U.S. Figure Skating policy. SPECTATOR CONDUCT No items of any kind are to be thrown on the ice. Violation of this rule may subject the offender to ejection from the arena and prosecution. PROGRAM INFORMATION If you would you like your photo in the event souvenir program, a photo to Blythe Skarshaug at 2015eglrprogram@gmail.com no later than September 1, Photos should be a yearbook style headshot in JPEG or PNG format with a pixel resolution of at least 600 x400 pixels. Please see form QD for complete details. Photographs and media forms will be used for the program and publicity of the event. Submission of a competition entry automatically grants permission to use all accompanying information, including photographs, for publicizing these Championships. Programs can be purchased at the cost of $10 per program. It is in your best interest to pre-purchase your program, as there will be a limited availability at the event. MERCHANDISE Event merchandise will be available for purchase at the arena.

Access to Traverse City is convenient by car or air. Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) is located approximately 4 miles Centre Ice Arena. The airport is serviced by American, Delta, and United airlines. Rental cars are available at the airport through Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National rental agencies. Check with your hotel for information on shuttles to and from the airport. PRACTICE ICE All skaters must register at the registration desk prior to skating any unofficial or official practice session. Skaters must turn in their music at the registration desk for the competition prior to being allowed on practice ice. An additional copy must be submitted to the Ice monitor for official practice ice, this additional copy will be returned immediately following the completion of the official practice ice session. There will NOT be any refunds after signing up for any unofficial or official practice ice sessions or for missed practice sessions due to any reason. Safety on the ice is the responsibility of the skater. The size and makeup of practice ice groups will be determined by the Chief Referee and/or the LOC. Skaters are expected to follow usual rink etiquette. Coaching shall be from behind the side boards. Coaches are not

15 permitted to be in the music box or on the platform for the officials. Skaters who are not skating shall leave the ice surface to rest or converse. Only credentialed coaches and credentialed athletes will be permitted in the restricted areas with access to the ice. OFFICIAL PRACTICE ICE Official practice ice will be available beginning in 30 minute segments. The length of official practice ice will be contingent on competition level and number of skaters per group as determined by the chief referee. Warm up practice ice will be 20 minutes in length and will be scheduled on the day of the skaters event. The Chief Referee and the LOC will be responsible for practice ice scheduling. Practice ice may be purchased by using FORM QA, which must be must be postmarked by September 1 st, See form QA for more details. Each skater s music will be played once on an official practice session. Each skater is allowed one official practice ice session per segment. Depending on the schedule, practice ice may be on the secondary surface (David s Rink). The Chief Referee and the LOC will be responsible for scheduling all practice ice times. You will be notified shortly after September 1 st where you will be able to go online and select your pre purchased practice ice sessions. Official practice ice will begin in segments of 30 minutes. Music will be played for designated skaters on these practice sessions only. Warm up practice ice will be 20 minutes long and scheduled for the day of the skaters event. Only one warm up session may be purchased per event segment (Short and long. Warm-up will be 20 minutes long and will be scheduled on the day of the skaters event. Official practice ice and warm-up practice ice will be sold as packages: Package A: One Official PI and one Warm-up PI For Juvenile skaters as they have only one program and for those in an event with a qualifying round. Skaters who purchase package A who are placed directly into a championship round will be scheduled for their short program only (see package B). Those advancing to a championship round will have the opportunity to purchase practice after initial rounds are completed. Practice times for these events are not sold at this time. Package B: Two Official PI and two Warm-up PI For skaters entering directly into a championship round event. These skaters are provided with one official PI and one warm-up PI each for the Short program and the Free Skate program. Unofficial practice ice will be 30 minutes long. Skaters music will not be played on unofficial practice sessions. Skaters may pre-purchase up to 2 (two) unofficial practice sessions with this announcement. After skaters who have pre-purchased unofficial practice ice have had an opportunity to select their sessions, additional unofficial practice ice will be made available for all competitors to purchase online at sk8stuff.com. Unofficial PI will also be available for purchase at the venue during the event. Package A $35 Package B $70 Unofficial PI 1 or $20 each $ Total Practice Ice Cost = $ The LOC will use an online system for scheduling and selecting PI.
