Back in the day when phones had cords, that was a greeting reserved for Yuletide but the new normal today is that there is a season, and a sale to go with it, every day of the year. Perhaps some seasons have more meaning than others; but not when it comes down to the time of year to buy a mattress. Like buying mattresses, every day of the year is a good day to go fishing, somewhere! My seasons of fishing seem to cycle similar to the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church. There may be a spiritual connection; but my guess is that it has more to do with the rebooting that most of us go through in the fall as a means to transition from the wonderment of summer to the grey, damp and coldness of winter. I am talking about fall rejuvenation. It starts out with eating too much candy during the eight weeks that make up Halloween, to the turkey induced and vegan/veggie alternative) food comas of Thanksgiving, through the season of giving and getting; ending with new resolutions and commitments to do better at least through the college Football Bowl Series championship game!
