4 Gulf Coast Fisherman - Overview Gulf Coast Fisherman magazine (est. 1976) is an information resource for fishermen of the Gulf and adjoining bays. In addition to feature articles and departments covering all aspects of fishing coastwide, its key feature is the Wells Daily Fishing Forecast, the oldest and most reliable forecast of when and where to fish ever published for the Gulf Coast. The Wells Daily Fishing Forecast was first published by Harold Wells in 1957 and has been in continual print since that time. The magazine is distributed from Florida to Texas via newsstand and tackle stores. Subscribers are located throughout the Gulf Coast, and across the entire U.S. STRATEGIC PLANNING The Wells Daily Fishing Forecast, unique to Gulf Coast Fisherman, is used by thousands of fishermen and professional fishing guides, as well as many commercial fishermen to plan fishing trips in advance. Each issue of the magazine contains three months of the Wells Daily Fishing Forecast in addition to tide tables and fishing calendars. ( As a matter of background, the Forecast was conceived by the magazines founder, Harold Wells, in 1957 and has been in continual print since.) The importance of the Forecast to our advertisers is that it boosts readership of the magazine to a much higher level than similar publications with only editorial attraction. Every time one of our readers plan to fish they will consult the magazine several times to determine the best time to fish. And our readers fish an average 30 times per year.
