2 Vigil Honor nominations are due by April 18 th. You can nominations to Garrett Holden, and Todd Rogers, or send written nominations to the Scout Office. Nominations should consist of a short paragraph summarizing why you feel a member should be considered for the Vigil Honor. A list of names will not be considered a nomination. A meeting of Vigil Honor members and voting will occur at the Spring Conclave. All Vigil Honor members should have received the list of youth and adult Brotherhood eligible members in a letter during the Lodge Banquet or in the mail in early March. If you have questions please contact Garrett or Todd. Hello, Brothers! My name is Alexander Flavin, and I m your new Lodge Treasurer. As some of you may know, Adam Crosby, our Lodge s previous treasurer, felt that he had to step down for personal reasons. I was appointed to by the E- board to serve the remainder of his term as treasurer. It s great to be serving you guys, and now that I m done with introductions, here s a couple of quick notes. The Lodge is in great shape financially. We raised almost $2,000 for camperships at the Crazy Midnight Auction, and we had an amazing outpouring of support for the pavilion project at the Family Banquet, more than $5000! We are coming around to the time of year where you will need to pay your dues, so as a reminder, here s a couple of different ways you can pay your dues. Mail a check into the Council Office make the checks out to Langundowi 46. Stop by the council office, and pay by cash, check, or credit card. Call the council office and pay by credit card. Please make sure you pay your dues on time! Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchsik, Witahemui Alexander Flavin, Lodge Treasurer At the Spring Conclave, Langundowi Lodge #46 will hold its annual election of Lodge Officers. The officers duties are outlined below and are detailed in the Lodge Manual of Administration. Listed below are the duties of the lodge officers. If you are interested in running, please contact Rob Hanes. If you are under sixteen, please have your parents approval. This is a significant commitment of time and energy, but is a rewarding experience. Lodge Chief: Preside over the general Lodge Business Meetings. Preside over the Executive Committee Meetings. Represent Langundowi at the Section Council of Chiefs meetings. Appoint all committee chairmen and non-elected officers. Membership Vice Chief: Take the place of the Lodge Chief is his absence. Be responsible for all the membership needs of the Lodge. Act as the public relations officers of the Lodge. Assist the Lodge Chief in any way possible. Secretary: To take accurate minutes at all meeting, both Lodge and Executive Committee. Maintain the membership rosters of the Lodge. Handle all correspondence for the Lodge. Maintain the Lodge Archives.
3 Treasurer: To keep and accurate record of all Lodge finances. To handle all requests for payment. To maintain and operate the trading post at Lodge functions. *** If interested, please fill out the Officer Nomination form on our website (under Registration Forms and then Administrative) and send to Dan 'Thachter' Myers at Also, there will be an opportunity for you to let the newly elected officers know that you are interested in being considered for a Committee Chairman position by signing up after seeing a list of duties for each position. There will be a sign up sheet at Spring Conclave to indicate what position you d like to be considered for. HISTORY COMMITTEE The 2015 NOAC will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. To fully recognize the Order s rich history during the centennial celebration, each lodge has been requested to provide a comprehensive lodge history for the national archives and display at NOAC. To answer this call, Langundowi arrowmen are compiling information, not only on Langundowi but also on our three predecessor lodges. The goal is to create a comprehensive booklet that details the heritage of Langundowi Lodge from 1929-Present with a narrative, photographs, significant members (Lodge Chiefs, Section Officers, DSA recipients, Vigil Honor members), and a listing of our memorabilia for inclusion at NOAC in In order to make this effort successful, we are in search of a variety information: Photographs (Originals or Scans) Old Section Conclave Booklets (Area III-B, NE-5C, NE-5) Publications/Newsletters from Eriez #46, Hoh-Squa-Sa-Gah-Da #251, and Skanondo Inyan #256 Old Langundowi Lodge Newsletters (Pre-2000) Memorabilia & Insignia Oral or Written Histories News Articles Membership Cards The historical committee will gladly accept any information or leads that help us create a thorough and accurate reference. We will gladly take any information, documentation or information you can provide. If you know individuals who were members of Deer Rock/Skanondo Inyan, Hoh Squa Sa Gah Da or Eriez Lodge who may have information, we are happy to contact them as well. We will have a scanner at the Spring Conclave to make digital copies of documents and photographs. To provide information please contact: John Galmish, Chairman (comicsman@gmx.com) or Todd Rogers, Adviser (trogers17@gmail.com) Hi guys, its Matt again. The drum team is looking good and has been practicing once a month at camp. We ve got a few youth involved and are making regular practices. If you are interested in Native American culture or joining the team, feel free to contact me, we will be happy to have you. Yours in Brotherhood, Matt Morgan, Lead Drummer
4 40 th Annual De-Un-Da-Ga Pow wow Are you looking for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and Native American culture that is fun for the whole family? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the 40th annual De-Un-Da-Ga powwow is the event for you. All Order of the Arrow members are invited to stay for free Memorial Day weekend in exchange for 4 hours of service either in the registration or food booth areas and you can bring your whole family or even your whole troop. There will be fun games, Native American dancers or singers, cool vender stations, and so much more. You are even able to earn the Indian Lore merit badge. So if you want to have a fantastic Memorial Day weekend packed full of fun and fellowship, come on down to the 40th annual De-Un-Da-Ga powwow! ELANGOMATS NEEDED Make sure to sign up to be an Elangomat this summer during the ordeals. If you don t know what that is or how to be one, stop by the Elangomat training during the conclave or talk to Sean Ferry, your Elangomat Chairman. Contact info : pyrosean107@aol.com. Attention All Members who completed their Ordeal in 2013: You are eligible to complete the requirements to seal your membership in the Order by becoming a Brotherhood Member. It is NOT as strenuous as taking your Ordeal, but it is MORE important. Plan on doing it at the Spring Conclave!. Just make sure to bring your lodge handbooks. Congrats to 2014 Golden Pine Recipients Chris Pasky and Matt Morgan! All in attendance had a great time at the Lodge Banquet. It was great to see everyone again and celebrate another year of our lodge. Tyler Allen, fresh out of his role as NE Region Chief and now assuming the role of program director of the new high adventure camp at the Bechtel Summit spoke about the new OA High Adventure program at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Lodge Chief Chris Pasky gave the State of the Lodge address. Brief highlights: 454 members in our lodge in 2013; in keeping with our commitment to camping and outdoor leadership we had 49 lodge members on staff at camp and of those, 11 were directors; lodge members provided 2,620 hours of service to camp; etc. We had a chance to view a slideshow of pics over the past year and relive memories. {See following page for banquet pics.}

6 2014 NE-4A Section Conclave Don t forget to get your registration form in for Section Conclave at Camp Lavigne in Benton, PA June 6 th -8 th Early bird is due by April 30 th. It will be hosted by Wyona Lodge this year and will have a strong Native American theme. For those of you who aren t sure what Section Conclave is, Section Conclave is a yearly event that rotates between all of the lodges in our section. The lodges in our section are Ah Tic, Gyantwachia, Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont, Woapeu Sisilija, Wyona, and of course Langundowi. There are games for youth (Golden Arrow games) and adults (Silver Arrow Games) to compete against the other lodges. There are shows, training cells, patch trading, and lots of fellowship with brothers from other lodges. There is also an election for the next year s section officers and each lodge gets up to10 votes. Only youth can vote and it s in accordance with how many youth each lodge has in attendance. To get our full 10 votes, we need at least 10 youth to go, so please sign up today and give us a better chance to have our lodge represented by a section officer position. This event is tons of fun. Print out the registration form today and send it in! Find it on the website on the right side under Registration Forms then Activies/ Conclaves/ Events. Lodge Adviser s Corner The Family Banquet was great! Our Chief and Vice-Chiefs presented a well-planned program. The Lodge Executive Committee was presented with Journey to Excellence (JTE) Gold pins, 41 new Brotherhood members recognized, and 9 Vigil Honor members presented certificates. The lodge also presented 23 Wischixin Active One awards. This presents Langundowi with a challenge of achieving JTE Gold for This can be met by growing total membership through every troop having a Unit Election (deadline is April 30) to get its members into the Lodge and Ordeal members from last summer or earlier to seal Brotherhood membership. This Spring Conclave will be last summer s ordeal member s first chance to claim Brotherhood membership! We will also need many volunteers to help at this summer s Ordeal weekends. Help is needed as elangomats, service project leaders, and many other things. Please see Membership Vice-Chief, Matt Morgan and Elangomat Chair, Sean Ferry Jr. Now is the time to help our youth to be successful on their Journey to Excellence, remember what you promised to do. Rob Hanes, Lodge Adviser (Remember to pay those dues) See you at Spring Conclave!
