6 Local Lochac Guild Contacts Guild of the Silver Rondel The dance guild in the Kingdom of Lochac which encourages pre 17th century dancing, holds competitions, and also holds the Bal d' Argent which is the social dance event of the year. We encourage the doing, researching and teaching of fibre related skills as seen in pre 1600 cultures. We include weavers, spinners, dyers, cordmakers, felters, knitters, njalbinders and lacemakers. 7 Beginner s Armoured Combat Course Re-discover the martial techniques of European Sword and Shield Combat, based on 3000 years of development which reached its pinnacle in the 15th century. This is not theatrical or choreographed display; SCA combat has a 45 year record of safety but is definitely not for the faint-hearted. The Beginners Armoured Combat Course is an eight week program that aims to introduce the basic principles and techniques of SCA Tournament Combat, the construction of swords & shields and the etiquette & culture of competitive historical tournament combat. Þer were trompours & tabourers, Harpours fele, & crouders: Miche melody þai maked all Sir Orfeo, ll Celebrate the fineries of the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries. Inspired by accounts of feasting in Middle English and Old French romances, this Midsummer feast will be an occasion of chivalry, fin amour and pageantry. As with all SCA events, an attempt at pre-1600 garb is required. (13th15th century garb is encouraged.) Date: Saturday 19th January 2013 Set-up from 4.30pm. 6.30pm start. This fine art of dressing nobles so popular it's going global. So dress all resplendent for if you miss this you'll be sorely repentant. Its the one night we eat without Reserve as richly as we deserve. Whilst devoid of meat and absent salad, this feast cant be beat, it'll be the stuff of ballads.
