1 Feb/March 2014 Greetings All Croquet Players Well, summer has certainly been a bit hit and miss this season, however, the cancellation of croquet on Tuesday meant that I could complete this newsletter and I hope you enjoy its contents. Hopefully, the weather will pick up for the annual OCA Tournament starting this Saturday. MINI TOURNAMENT Our first tournament for the year was, as usual, at Alexandra. There was a bit of anxiety as to whether it would go ahead through lack of entries, however, it did and was enjoyed by all. I can thoroughly recommend this tournament. The weather is always fantastic, as is the hospitality. You may go away tired - but never hungry! If you ve never entered this tournament before please consider doing so next year. Joan & Chris - resting between games Shirley Renowned Raffle Winner Audrey Tournament Manager And the winners were: Joan Anaan S4 Daphne Hannagan S3 Michael Sinclair S2 June Clarke S1
2 Left - Tony Warrington overall winner with most hoops Right: Eleanor Pelvin (President Alexandra Club) PUNGA NEW YEAR DOUBLES Punga held a very successful tournament in January with good entries. It was great to see some of the more recent learners of Association Croquet participating and being successful. Well done! At left Joan Dickinson (Punga) presents the first prizes to Michael Sinclair and Pam McCloy. Right: Michael and Pam with the runners-up Jeanette Liefting and Ngaire McKenzie MASTERS GAMES Dunedin was the venue for the 2014 Masters Games and what a glorious week we had (I think that was our summer). There were record entries with croquet players coming from as far away as Porirua in the north to Winton in the south. During the first 2 days we concentrated on golf croquet with ricochet on Monday and one ball on Tuesday. These two days were fun days with the more serious Association games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A BIG thank you to Lynley Browne and Ron McMurran for their usual outstanding organization. The winners were:

4 Awaiting the results!! Who will get gold?? Final get-to-gether at the Game s Village Wakatipu News "On Monday the 10th February, Wakatipu Croquet Club played against Alexandra in a NZCC Interclub Asscociation Croquet Tournament. The Tournament was played in beautiful weather, if a little too hot in the afternoon. Alexandra won 7 games with 141 points. Wakatipu won 2 games with 114 points. The final in the series will be played 10 March at Alexandra". "Wakatipu Croquet Club President, Frances Lewis, passed away on Saturday 15th February Frances was such a tower of strength within the Club as she knew SO much about all aspects of Croquet. We are going to miss her, as will many others." Wakatipu Tournament "Wakatipu Croquet Club held their 14th Annual Wakatipu Tournament on Thursday 20th - Sunday 23rd February People from all over NZ and overseas came to play Association Croquet at this Tournament. Five Waimare CC Members: Tony Warrington, Marion & John McInnes, Jamie Cormack, and Mike Beardsell: and six players from the Dunedin area. It was played under all kinds of weather - extreme heat, a cloudy sky, quite cold after overnight snow

Kind Regards Ruby Hutton Thank you Ruby for this report and please accept our sincere sympathy at the loss of Frances Lewis, your valued club member.
