A message from our Chairman Sharks, Welcome to the Shark Bite. The 2016/2017 season is underway and although not a great start for most of the teams we did pull back a win with our 1st XV winning a close fought match against a very determined Wasps side. Final score was This is a very important win for our aspiration to finish T6 this season. Our 2nd XV put up a fight against the reigning Community winners the Beaver Nomads and don t think the score line truly reflected how competitive the game was throughout, Beavers won Our 3rd XV took on a much improved Shaheen squad with Shaheen winning the match Although losing both games our teams did get some well deserved points on the board. Our Mini and Junior section is in full swing with plenty of new faces signing up for the new season and the new kit has been finalized and looks fantastic! Please keep checking our social media for updates on upcoming social events and make sure you get down to meet all the new members. Important date to note is of 7 th October where we have the first leg of the Womens Cross Border 7 s tournament at our home Rugby park from 12:00 7:00 pm. We also have two home games that day where Sharks 2 KO of 5 pm against the Harlequins Barbarians and then the Sharks 1 st take on the Harlequins 2 at 7 pm. Come down to help with the ladies if you have time and watch what promises to be a great day full of Rugby. Once again I would like to thank everyone involved for the effort put in over the past two weeks while I was away and look forward to seeing you all pitch-side! Paul Johnson ( Chappie) Chairman Dubai Sharks RFC
Dubai Sharks Long Weekend Social 7 WHAT: Long Weekend Social WHEN: Saturday, 1 October KO 12:30 pm WHERE: The Crown and Lion, Tecom Byblos (to begin) WHO: Sharks, Friends, Partners, Friends of partners Throughout the years, we've always thought of ourselves as an innovative rugby club, shaping the way rugby interacts with the human body. Exploring new levels of rugby-body interaction. So it is with great joy, that I today announce, the Long Weekend Social 7. Pretty much everything you've got out of a rugby social in previous years, but now with a 7 on it. This year, we've kept the things you love about weekend social events; that great banter, the world class people, that distinctive odour. We've removed the headphone jack. Wait, why did we have a headphone jack? Anyway, we've got a weekend with no rugby, and Sunday off work. SO, we're going to have a nice Saturday tour of the finest venues in Tecom/Barsha Heights. We will start at the Crown and Lion in the Tecom Byblos hotel, and journey onwards from there..
Warriors - IntroducFon The Warriors Sports Club and Academy was established in Dubai in the summer of Warriors was set-up to promote the growth of, and participation in junior sport in Dubai. At the end of the 3 rd successful season for the club, which saw us expand and outgrow from our home base at DESC, we forged an alliance with Dubai Sharks to merge with the senior club into an entity which offers a combined product of junior and senior rugby at our mutual base of Rugby Park in Dubai Sports City. Warriors is affiliated to the UAERF, running junior rugby coaching from Under 5 to Under 16 for the 2016/2017 Season which officially started for us in September All new players are welcome, and we are open to players of all abilities trying out for and joining the club our current policy is not to turn any interested players away in order to foster the growth of our club and the sport. Please refer to the training schedule on our website after registration for further information on training times and venue information The junior player pathway as prescribed by the UAERF is followed which allows for the development of players in advancing stages from tag rugby, to 7s, 10s and 12 player formats before advancing to full pitch, youth law variations of the 15s game. Warriors has been extremely successful in its early seasons, and has benefited from the tremendous experience offered by a core of founding coaches. The trophy cabinet is already full with the spoils of war, from leagues and competitions not only in the UAE but also from competitions in the wider region and further afield on inter-continental tours.
Warriors - ConFnued The club has already sent teams to Bahrain, Doha, Thailand, England, Wales and France and an international tour is already on the cards for South Africa this season. Trophy winners at the Bangkok 10s, and Poole Rugby Festivals prove that the standard of rugby we coach and play in Dubai is very high, and tours are viewed as an important part of developing the Spirit of the Game. As with any rugby club, we rely heavily on volunteers, and it is the time and dedication that our coaches and managers show which helps promote Warriors as a growing community club that people want to be a part of. We are always in need of assistance and welcome anyone with an area of expertise in any training capacity to lend a hand in the development of our young rugby players so please contact us if you have something to offer. The merger with Dubai Sharks offers benefits ranging from the transfer of expertise, to economies of scale in procurement, bargaining power with suppliers and it also offers a far broader range of exposure opportunities to commercial partners and sponsors. As we are a grassroots sports organisation, we rely heavily on support from the community and we welcome any opportunity to discuss potential synergies and opportunities with local companies. Warriors, as a junior sports club, is excited about operating within the framework of the Dubai Sharks RFC constitution, and trusts that rugby at Dubai Sports City will grow from strength to strength in the coming years. For more information on Warriors, our training schedule, fees and programs, please visit our website at With Honour, Loyalty and Courage We are Warriors!
Sponsors Page This is a great deal for all Sharks community that provides discounted meat and fish, which is generally 30% lower than UAE supermarkets and delivered to your door.
