7 MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB: MEN S FIXTURES 2018/19 MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB: MEN S FIXTURES 2018/19 MEN S COMPETITION REGULATIONS Effective from 1st March, To be eligible to enter any competition, a member shall have paid his Annual Subscription Competition Entry Fee and hold a C. O. N. G. U. handicap. 2. All competitions shall be played according to the Rules of Golf except when modified by Local Rules and by the Match and Handicap Committee which is empowered by the Rules of Golf (33-1) to establish the regulations which shall apply to men's competitions at Massereene Golf Club. 3. Match Play. All competitions must be played within the stipulated time. Both players share responsibility of arranging date and time of match. The winner should post the result on the draw sheet. Failing arrangements, matches will start at 6:00pm on last day of period allowed and any player not on 1st tee by 6:15pm will be disqualified. 4. Stroke/Points. Ties will be decided on scores for the last nine holes, or last six, or last three, if necessary, except where otherwise stipulated. Score cards must be signed by both player and marker, who must be a fellow competitor unless authorised by the match and Handicap Committee/ Manager/ Starter. 5. Minimum entry for Saturday competitions shall be 80 players. 6. The right is reserved to adjust handicaps after any qualifying round. 7. Each member participating in a Club competition must: ensure that his name is entered into the computer obtain his scorecard and check his name and handicap are correctly printed on the card pay the competition entry fee in the Professional's shop 8. After completion of play, all competitors must enter their scores in the computer and post their cards in the relevant handicap section in the competition box. 9. All competitions will be played over 18 holes unless otherwise stated. Play may commence from the 1st and 10th Tees only, except when Time Sheets are operative. 10. All Saturday Competitions must be played from competition markers. 11. Any enforced changes in competition regulations will be posted on the notice board. Competitors are requested to check conditions before commencing play. 12. J Category 1, J Category 2 and K Intermediate Category 1 members of 18 handicap or below may enter Club and Open competitions (with the exception of Captain s Day and President s Day). There MUST be one adult member per fourball. A J Category 1, J Category 2 and K Intermediate Category 1 member with 18 handicap or below who wishes to play in a Saturday competition cannot reserve a time before 3.00 pm on the Friday before the competition, and only through the Pro Shop. 13. Three cards must be returned from Club competitions during the current season to be eligible to play in Captain's Day and President's Day. 14. COMPETITION SHEET REGULATIONS (a) All members on the competition sheet shall enter the competition. (b) A member who intends to play regularly every Saturday may apply to have a permanent slot on the competition sheet by writing to the Secretary Manager. Only the Secretary Manager can allocate or alter a permanent time slot. If a slot is not immediately available, a waiting list will operate

8 MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB: MEN S FIXTURES 2018/19 MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB: MEN S FIXTURES 2018/19 (c) A casual vacancy on the competition sheet may be booked by a member through the club s on-line booking system, or by contacting the Professional shop. Unable to play 15. PREVENTION OF SLOW PLAY The maximum period of time allowed to complete a stipulated round at Massereene shall be 4 hours 10 minutes. (Rules of Golf 6-7). Penalty for breach of Rule 6-7 see Note 2 (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) Any player with their name on the competition sheet and is unable to play on a Saturday, should as a matter of courtesy inform his playing partners in advance. The player is also responsible for withdrawing his name NOT LATER than 3.00 pm Friday either: through the club s on-line booking system, or by contacting the Professional shop. A breach of this regulation 6 times during a playing season will result in a player losing his slot Any member who fails to have his name removed and does not show, thereby is denying another member the opportunity to play in the competition will be subject to the loss of his slot should this occur 4 times during a playing season. If the playing record shows that a permanent tee-time holder has not played for MORE THAN THREE CONSECUTIVE weeks, without good reason having been submitted in writing to the Secretary Manager in advance, this will result in the player losing his permanent slot. Any member who decides that he will not require his permanent slot in the future must inform the Secretary Manager. Any complaints regarding the regulations above, submitted in writing from fellow competitors, will be regarded as a disciplinary matter. 16. Members are reminded that Friday is Ladies' Day and that Ladies are entitled to priority on the course

13 MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB: LADIES FIXTURES 2018/19 MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB: LADIES FIXTURES 2018/19 LADIES COMPETITION REGULATIONS 1. To be eligible to enter a competition, competitors must have paid their annual subscription and hold a C.O.N.G.U. handicap. 2. All competitions must be played according to the Rules of Golf except when modified by Local Rules. 3. It is recommended that each player carries a copy of the Rules of Golf. 4. Entry fee is 2 for singles competitions and 9 hole qualifying competitions. 3 per pair for foursomes/fourball and 1 for Over 65yrs 9-hole (unless otherwise stated) must be paid before playing. Entry fee is not refunded if player is disqualified. 5. Competitors must adhere to Conditions of Entry to Competitions as laid down by Committee. i.e. swiping Membership Card at computer terminal or signing Competition Book before play, as dictated by type of competition being played. 6. Each competitor is responsible for her score card, which must: (i) record her correct handicap (ii) record her correct score at each hole (iii) be signed by marker and player (iv) be returned to the competition card drawer 7. Committee reserves the right to alter the conditions and dates of all competitions and any dispute regarding same will be resolved by Committee. Any changes will be posted on the notice board. 8. Competitors should adhere to starting times. 9. Check Green s Notice board before play for latest course information re: playing conditions 10. Individual competitions should be played in 3- balls. Courtesy should be shown to players who may have to play in 2- balls. 11. Players not competing in the competition shall not accompany competitors, except when a marker has been appointed by Committee Three 18-hole singles handicap qualifying competition cards, at Massereene, during current playing season must be completed and returned to be eligible to compete for Lady Captain s Prizes, Lady President s Prizes and Vice-Captain s Prizes (except 9-hole competitions). 13. The Committee reserves the right to reschedule a trophy/qualifying competition which has 20 or less entrants. Prizes will be reduced and awarded in relation to number of entrants for singles competitions with 35 or less entries. Limits do not apply to Winter Voucher competitions. 14. Competition cards returned in a competition which is later postponed or abandoned count for handicap reduction. 15. Ties are to be decided on a count back as follows: (Handicap allowance to be deducted in Stroke play). 18-hole decided on last 9, 6, 3, 1 holes played. If still a tie decided on last 3,6,7,8, of the first nine holes played. 16. If the course is CLOSED for an Northern District / I.L.G.U. Qualifying, Trophy or Open Competition, the competition will, where possible, be postponed to a later date. Course will only be closed by Green s Convenor / Green s staff and a notice placed in Ladies Locker Room. 17. Suspension of play:- Rules of Golf, Rules 6 8b and 33-2d apply. See notice board for procedure. 18. Slow Play:- Rules of Golf, Rule 6 7 applies 19. The use of mobile phones for in-coming calls during a ladies competition/match is strictly prohibited. 20. The use of buggies in Club competitions is permitted, however in I.L.G.U. competitions all players using buggies must have approval from I.L.G.U. Headquarters, Dublin. 21. In Foursomes, Greensomes & Fourball Betterball, marker should be a pair in the same competition. If no markers are available, any committee member or the starter can approve a marker. 22. Christmas Voucher Competitions may be played on a Friday or Sunday. 25

Account will be taken of nett scores to the point where the value of gross prizes exceeds that of nett. SUMMER RINGER Played alongside Ladies Section 18-hole singles competitions and according to the Rules of Golf (a) Ringer sections:- A (18 and under), B (19-26), C (27-54) (b) For original ringers, appropriate book must be signed and separate entry fee paid before playing. (c) Original ringer must be a complete round and record a stroke score for each hole. It must be recorded on a separate card. 26 (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) Subsequent changes can only be made on Ladies Section competition days - in qualifying and non qualifying competitions. When course has standard scratch, temporary holes may be recorded. One hole in each 9 can be changed in each competition. Each hole can be changed twice only. All changed scores must be entered on ringer cards and recorded on appropriate record sheet in folder. Fourball betterball, foursomes, greensomes, team scores and matchplay are not eligible. 1/3 of playing handicap at close of competition deducted from final gross score. In event of a tie a countback to be used. Handicap at end of competition determines section a Player competes in. BIRDIE TREE SHIELD Each time you have a birdie, complete a birdie card and record your name and date at the relevant hole in birdie tree folder. When course has a Standard Scratch temporary hole scores may be recorded. (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) DRAWS Name must be entered on appropriate draw sheet by 1.00 pm on the Wednesday prior to the competition. Competitors who enter a draw but do not compete must pay entry fee Competitors should adhere to starting times when course is open, regardless of weather. In each draw time the group just prior to last group should wait until at least 2 players in the last group have arrived. Both players or pairs are responsible for arranging date and time of match within the stipulated time and no exceptions will be given. Matches will start at 5.30 pm on the last day of the stipulated period unless the players agree to a prior date: Rules of Golf Any player not present will be disqualified. Results must be posted by winner/s on the competition draw sheet on or before the final date of each round. Closing dates for each round are Thursdays (d) (e) Place on the score card their Club computer reference number. Indicate on the card scores to be adjusted by the application of nett double bogey or Stableford adjustment. A penalty cannot be imposed under Rules of Golf for failure to comply with listed a-e. However, a penalty of a disciplinary nature, such as a suspension of handicap is not considered to be contrary to Rules of Golf. An alternative penalty would be to suspend the player s right to compete in Club Competitions for a specified period. (a) (b) (c) JUNIORS Juniors (under 18 years of age on 1st January) are not eligible to play for Lady Captain s Prizes, Vice-Captain s Prizes, Lady President s Trophy & Prizes and Centenary Trophy but may compete for any I.L.G.U. medal scores played in conjunction with these competitions. Junior Trophies shall not have a handicap limit. Junior Rules of the Clubhouse are in operation except when permission is granted to attend a prize distribution. Caddies are not permitted. The following Competition Conditions apply solely to the Handicapping System and are sanctioned by CONGU in conjunction with R & A. Players are required to: (a) Total their score and apply the correct handicap. (b) Enter the total Stableford points on their card. This condition may be imposed even though the event is not a Stableford competition. (c) On completion of the round enter scores hole by hole into a computer terminal
