26 P a g e 26 Slow Play Slow play affects all players and can be the difference between an enjoyable round of golf and a frustrating one. The pace of play is the responsibility of ALL players (not just the lowest marker) and every group should keep up with the group in front of them. The Match committee has been addressing this age old problem and is considering a number of strategies to help alleviate it. The following is the first of these strategies: In recognition of the Rules of Golf (Rule 6.7) the Club has established a Pace of Play Policy that is based on 4 hours and 20 minutes being the maximum time for a group to complete 18 holes. Strategies to assist players in achieving this include: Check-in at least 10 minutes prior to your tee time. Be on the tee 5 minutes prior to your tee time. Every player is responsible for the speed of play of their group. Always endeavour to keep up with the group in front of you. Move quickly between shots and be ready to play when it is your turn. If you are behind, abandon the Honour system and the furthest from the hole hits first rule and adopt the procedure where, if it can be done safely, the person who is ready hits, even if he is further up the fairway, providing it is safe to do so. On the tee, shorter hitters hit first. Longer hitters hit last. Play a provisional ball if there is some doubt to where your ball finished. Leave buggies on the side of the green nearest the access to the next tee. Line up your putt and get set to putt while other players are putting without breach of etiquette. Putt out whenever possible (except in match play). If you have the honour on the next tee, hit first and then mark your scorecard. Mark your scorecard on the next tee while others are teeing off. In other than Stroke competitions, pick up your ball when you cannot score. If you lose a ball and or fall behind, play your next few shots as soon as it is safe to do so. If asked to catch-up to the group in front by a Club Official, a group has 2 holes to achieve its correct position in the field. Follow these timing checkpoints during your round: Please do not: 1. complete the first 6 holes in 1 hour 25 minutes 2. complete the front 9 holes in 2 hours 10 minutes 3. complete the first 15 holes in 3 hours 35 minutes 4. complete the 18 holes in 4 hours 20 minutes mark score cards on the green. take an excessive number of practice swings replay putts. Penalties for Slow Play 1 st infringement: Warning issued 2 nd infringement : 2 stroke penalty to group 3 rd infringement : Disqualification of group. 4 th infringement : Member referred to Board for disciplinary proceedings-.failure to act in the best interests of the Club

27 P a g e 27 BATTLE OF THE HASTINGS A competition to be held annually between Wauchope and Port Macquarie Golf Clubs The event is a 4BBB Stableford and is to be held around the second week in March each year. FORMAT Sixteen pairs to be nominated from each club with eight pairs playing at home and eight pairs playing away. Tee of time is approximately am and the teams are to be matched with each other SCORING A win for a pair based on stableford points counts as one point The points are tallied for both home and away and the trophy presented at the end of the day i

28 P a g e 28 COMPLETING SCORE CARDS Score cards must be completed by entering the numerical score for each hole in the space provided headed players score It is a requirement of Port Macquarie Golf Club that players also enter their total score at the top right hand corner of the card as well as marking their individual score hole by hole in the space so that they may be read electronically by the Miclub readers. In the event that there is a disputed score card when checked by the Committee, the higher score either in the electronic section or in the players score card section will be adopted. COMPLETION OF COMPETITION Unless otherwise stated or authorised by the Captain a competition will be considered closed no later than 15 minutes after the last group has completed the final hole SCORING AREAS Unless otherwise stated in a specific event the scoring area is considered to be the scorecard box. Once a card is returned to the scorecard box errors may not be corrected or edited in any way unless authorised by the Captain.
