1 For Immediate Release Zach Eberly, International Junior Golf Tour, International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) Presents The IJGT at Duke University Golf Club Durham, NC Sunday, February 21, 2010 Gautier Once Again Reigns Supreme Sakuragi wins in thrilling fashion Durham, NC Many of the nation s top junior golfers converged on the city of Durham, North Carolina to take part in a 36-hole International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) event at the Duke University Golf Club. The course offers an ideal blend of stunning scenery and daunting challenges that are sure to make every round an adventure. Clear skies and warm weather was the recipe for success as many of our junior golfers posted very impressive total scores. The final round was a roller coaster ride for all who witnessed the tight races being decided late in the day. Stan Gautier, one of the premiere junior golfers with the IJGT, once again proved his dominance against a very worthy field of competitors in the Boys Division. Residing in Paris, France, Gautier trains at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (HH IJGA) where he continues to impress even the harshest of critics. After an impressive 3-under par first round of 69, Gautier posted a second round of 73 to clinch his second IJGT victory in as many tournaments as he has participated in this year. The highlight of the day for fellow competitor, Brantley Kushner, was his hole-in-one on hole No. 15, which helped him to a second place overall finish after he followed up his opening round of 77 with his own 3-under par 69. Finishing in a three way tie for third place was Alex Ehlert of Raleigh, NC and HH IJGA students Yifan Liu and Matthew Rushton all finishing with a total of 151. Although the weekend was full of great play and heroic shots, the day belonged to Stan Gautier and his dazzling play on the course. Stan is no stranger to the winners circle as he has won his share of junior competitions at the highest level. When asked why he was so excited to win this tournament, Gautier replied "I am very happy. It's very hard to play well every week, especially when your ahead of the competition most of the time." The driver and irons were very instrumental in his great play, but his mindset may have played an even larger role. "I just try to play as well as I can and enjoy the moment." After this weekend, there is plenty to be excited for as this bright young star is sure to turn heads in the future.

The Boys 13-15 Division followed suit and also boasted low scores and excellent play. Rising to the top of the pack was Greenwich, Connecticut native Theo Humphrey.

A first round 79 put Theo in a great position heading into Sunday's final round where he fired a final round of 77 to finish with a tournament total of 156 and clinch the first place trophy.

Third place honors were earned by Brett Gottsegen of Livingston, New Jersey who after a first round 84 carded a great round of 75 which awarded him the low round belt buckle.

Theo was looking to build on his recent tournament win two weeks ago entering this weekends event. HH IJGA student JJ Qualkenbush of La Quinta, California was tied with Theo for the lead after the first round and posted another 79 on Sunday to secure a very deserving second place finish. Third place honors were earned by Brett Gottsegen of Livingston, New Jersey who after a first round 84 carded a great round of 75 which awarded him the low round belt buckle. In the Boys U-12 Division, Venetia, Pennsylvania native Luke Miller emerged from the crowded leader board to snatch top honors. A regular top performer with the IJGT, Luke once again displayed the variety of skills and mental toughness required to be a champion. After a first round 80, Luke saved his best for the last round and posted a Sunday round of 74 to finish with a tournament total of 154. Anthony Perrino of Mooresville, North Carolina was in the hunt all day and posted rounds of 79 and 76 to capture the second place trophy. The third place trophy was awarded to Noah Edmondson of Davidson, North Carolina after his smooth play resulted in rounds of 77 and 79 to total 156. The drama of the boy's divisions spilled over into the Girls Division as 36 holes were not enough to settle the score between HH IJGA students Momo Sakuragi of Tokyo, Japan and Stephanie Eybers of Haymarket, Virginia. After sticking her second shot to 3 feet, Momo tapped in a par putt to win the one-hole playoff. Momo carded rounds of 83 and 78 while Stephanie finished with rounds of 79 and 82 for a weekend total of 161. Alexandra Austin snatched the third place position after posting scores of 84 and 81. Four strokes back heading in to the final round, Momo was aware of the uphill battle she would have to fight. "I had nothing to loose. I knew I could play better than my first round score." When asked about the inspiration behind the great final round, Momo responded by saying "My Dad encouraged me to just play my game and believe in myself." This is just one example of how a simple game such as golf can teach everyone priceless life lessons. The future stars of the IJGT were shining bright in the Girls U-14 Division. Taylor Totland displayed the variety of shots and focus needed to grab the first place honors. She blasted out of the gate with an 84 and sprinted to the finish line with a final round of 78 to finish with a tournament total of 162. As a resident of Tinton Falls, New Jersey Taylor mentioned "since we have all the snow on the ground back home my practice has been limited to the indoors." Claire Serruto, a native of Short Hills, New Jersey, also impressed with rounds of 97 and 86 to finish the tournament with a total score of 183.

The IJGT was founded in 1995 for junior golfers ages Its purpose is to provide aspiring collegiate players the opportunity to compete in a series of events against the highest quality U.S. and international competition. This year s schedule features 60 events at some of the finest courses in the U. S. as well as tournaments in Mexico, Columbia, Canada, and Scotland. Nearly 2000 junior golfers compete on the IJGT representing 24 states and as many countries. These young men and women will have the opportunity to participate in the national junior ranking system sponsored by Golfweek. Entering Sunday s final-round, players were looking to finish strong and receive the coveted IJGT Low Final Round Belt Buckle. This week s winners were: Boys Division, Brantley Kushner 69.
