1 For Immediate Release Jordan Schneider, International Junior Golf Tour, International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) Presents IJGT Legends at Parris Island Beaufort, SC Sunday, April 5, 2009 FERRABY CLINCHES FIRST IJGT CHAMPIONSHIP Consistency Pays-Off for Yu BEAUFORT, SC The 2009 installment of the IJGT at Parris Island concluded Sunday on the historic Legends at Parris Island Course on the United States Marine base outside of Beaufort, SC. High winds on Saturday challenged players from around the world but competitors battled the conditions to post red numbers on the leaderboard. Sunday s weather improved and near perfect conditions provided opportunity for players to improve their overall tournament scores. James Ferraby of Tenerife, Spain and current Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (HH IJGA) student held off the field coming down the stretch to earn the victory with a two-day total of 1-over-par 145. Charlie Kern of Mercer Island, WA fired an opening round 69 and never looked back to take home the title in the Boys Division. In the Boys 12 & Under Division Noah Edmondson of Davidson, NC was the victor. Ying Zhou Yun (HH IJGA) of Shen Zhen, China shot a second straight 2-over-par 74 to claim first place after extra holes. In the Boys Division, Ferraby started the tournament with an impressive opening round posting a 4- under-par 68 that included five birdies. He then proceeded to add another birdie to his tournament stats on Sunday en route to a 5-over-par 77. This was Ferraby s first IJGT tournament victory and he said this win proved his determination to win. In the first round, my iron play was very strong which created numerous tap in birdie opportunities, Ferraby said. After hitting the ball well last week at the IJGT at TPC Tampa Bay; HH IJGA Director of Instruction Peter Krause continued to work with me on my technique and HH IJGA coach Jen Dziabo motivated me to know that I can win. Nicolas Plasencia of Guadalajara, Mexico (HH IJGA) posted rounds of 70 and 76 respectively to clinch second place honors by one stroke. Three players tied for third place two strokes back at a 147 tournament total; Ben Conroy (HH IJGA) of Durham, CT, Ross Thomson (HH IJGA) of La Canada, CA and James Lyness (HH IJGA) of Bedford Corners, NY. The IJGT would like to congratulate Ross Thomson on his recent invitation to the Rice Planters Amateur. After the 11-event South Carolina Series of IJGT tournaments, Ross was the top point earner. The Rice Planters Amateur is one of the top events in the country and invitations are highly sought after by every

2 golfer. The IJGT is pleased to have this talented HH IJGA student representing one of its six exemptions into the prestigious event. In the Boys Division, Kern won by five strokes after carding six birdies to take a demanding lead in the first round. Kern was a force to be reckoned with after separating himself from the field as he won wire-to-wire clinching his second IJGT victory of the season. Danny Jaklin of Riverwoods, IL and Pacelli Perez (HH IJGA) of Zapopan, Mexico tied for second place, finishing with a tournament score of 148. The Boys 12 & Under Division tightened during the final-round Sunday, but Edmondson never let go of the lead all weekend. With two solid rounds of 78 and 82 respectively, Edmondson won by nine strokes over Joshua Fickes of Beaufort, SC who shot a final-round 79. Tillman Petersen of Waunakee, WI finished third. In the Girls 19 and Under Division, Yun claimed this weekend s title winning in a playoff en route to her second IJGT victory. Consistency throughout all aspects of her game helped Yun on a wet and windy weekend. After her win she offered up her thanks to her HH IJGA coaches, parents and all of her fellow competitors. Courtney Boe of Bluffton, SC fired a bogey-free 3-under-par 69 on Sunday to lead her charge up the leaderboard which forced the playoff with Yun. Boe s stunning final-round was enough to earn a second place finish. Kelsey Lou-Hing (HH IJGA) of Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago finished strong adding a final-round 78 to her opening round 75 for a 153 tournament total to earn third place honors. The final-round at the IJGT Legends at Parris Island saw numerous red and green numbers. Our IJGT belt buckle winners this week were: Luciano Garcia of Mexico City, Mexico (HH IJGA) (71), Seong Soo Lee of Seoul, South Korea (HH IJGA) (71), Nico Monsalves of Pasig, Philippines (HH IJGA) (71), Pacelli Perez of Zapopan, Mexico (73), Joshua Fickes of Beaufort, SC (79), Courtney Boe of Bluffton, SC (69) and Allison Shilling of New Canaan, CT (HH IJGA) (86).
