The ropes on Number 2 plantation have been lifted. Please 90 degree on all fairways. Please stay away from the greens. There is a yellow marker at 50 yards, do not pass it unless you are legally handicap. Did you know we could lose our liquor license if you bring your own on the course? It is hot out there, please hydrate. Please check the club s calendar for events during the month and don t forget ta make reservations. We continue to see improvements at the club. Food and beverage service has vastly improved and Chef Gary is doing a great job. We try to provide as much information as possible. If you are not receiving s or you are getting to many, please let us know. The Board of Governors serves in an advisory capacity to the Management of the Pecan Grove Plantation CC. 3 Managers Corner Hello Pecan Grove, My name is Savannah Baquet, and I am your new Membership Director! I am so excited to begin this new journey. I started a little over a month ago, and I have spent that time learning as much as I can about the club and how everything works. The first thing I noticed is how friendly this Membership is! I have been especially excited about this because my goal is to grow the Pecan Grove Family, and that task will be accomplished so much easier since you all are so welcoming! I m sure you all are wondering a little about me. Professionally, I have worked in Private Clubs for the last six years, most recently, Hearthstone Country Club in Northwest Harris County. This is my first time being the Membership Director at a club, but I have been fortunate to have been able to learn from some great mentors. Personally, I am a born and raised Houstonian. I enjoy spending my free time exploring the city and cheering on our Houston Astros! I recently got married, and my husband and I live in Northwest Houston with our dog, Noni. I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming months. My door is always open if you ever have questions about your membership, or if you just want to say hi! 4 SMGA News Senior Cup winners Roger Gorsha, left, and Fred Schneider Roger Gorsha, Fred Schneider Team Up To Capture 2018 SMGA Senior Cup The team of Roger Gorsha and Fred Schneider combined to shoot a two-day net total of to win the 2018 SMGA Senior Cup. The team s first day better ball score was 62 and the scramble format on day two netted a The Senior Cup is one of the SMGA s major events each year. Both team members will receive trophies at the annual SMGA awards banquet in December. Pecan Grove Seniors Rout Sweetwater In Home & Home The Pecan Grove Plantation CC SMGA team soundly defeated the senior team from Sweetwater CC in the first round of the 2018 Home & Home tournament between the two clubs. Pecan Grove put up 17 points to Sweetwater s 7 points. Format was two man partner match play with 3 points being the max that could be earned. Pecan Grove teams and points earned were: Bob Townsend and Kent Mahaffey (3 points), Fred Hicks and Greg Mantei (3), Andy Brown and Bob Nunnery (2.5), Wyman Hopkins and Jim Miller (2.5), Phil Klefas and Steve Gant (2.5), Ike Massey and Steve Brown (2.5), Mahlon Nobles and Rudy Rosales (0), James Aaron (1). Aaron played as a single. Fred Hicks Makes Hole-In One SMGA golfer Fred Hicks scored an ace on hole 3 of the Grove Course on May 10, It is his second hole-in-one. Jim Miller Scores An Ace Pecan Grove SMGA golfer Jim Miller made a hole-in-one on hole 6 of the Grove Course on May 11, It is his third hole-in-one.
