5 INFORMATION The general rules and regulations for the governance and conduct of the Waikato A&P Show shall be the same as the rules and regulations as issued by the Royal Agricultural Society of N.Z. (Inc) and it shall be deemed as if they had been printed in full in this schedule. A copy of these rules is available for perusal at the Secretary's office. CONFIRMATION OF ENTRIES: Confirmation of entries will be sent to each exhibitor once their entry has been received by the Secretary. If you have not received your confirmation within 10 working days after posting it please call the office immediately. If an entry is not listed in the catalogue they will not be allowed in the ring. As per the RAS rules, substitutions will only be accepted up to the time the catalogue goes to print. CATALOGUES: $6 - These are COMPULSORY so please ensure you add the fee with your entries. Catalogues will be available on day of judging and at final presentation evening. TICKETS: Will delivered on day of judging. PUBLICATION OF EXHIBITOR'S NAME: Entry in the Show entitles the Association to publish an Exhibitors name and / or image in result reports and publications and distribute with Exhibitor lists.

6 RULES FOR DAIRY CATTLE 1. Cattle allowed to be fitted to show standard under the RAS code of ethics rules. Any alteration of conformation of cattle as per RAS rules will be considered malpractice and disqualified. 2. All cattle must be lead on a concrete yard or appropriate hard flat surface. All leaders of cattle must wear a recognised Breed Uniform or other clean tidy clothing. Preferably no gumboots. 3. All cattle must be entered in the name of the bona fide owner. 4. Entry in the Show entitles the Association to publish an Exhibitors name in result reports and distribute with Exhibitor lists. 5. Age of Dairy Cattle shall be computed as at 1 st June unless otherwise stated. 6. Unless otherwise stated, all individual single entries must be named or entry will not be accepted. 7. All Cattle one year old and over must comply with the eligibility to show rules of the Individual Pedigree Breed Societies. 8. Any alteration of conformation of cattle as per RAS rules will be considered malpractice and disqualified from the Show. 9. Due to time restraints there is a limit of 2 animal per class by any one exihibitor.

7 PROGRAMME WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY 24 TH & 25 TH OCTOBER Breed judges will travel to farms to judge cattle. There will only be competitions for Breed Classes. SATURDAY 27 TH OCTOBER 3.30pm Presentation of Class Winners 5.30pm BBQ 7.00pm Futurity Judging Results 7.30pm Futurity Video Sale BBQ There will be an organized barbecue on Saturday evening available for all exhibitors. The cost will be (18 years & over) $5, which includes 2 complimentary drinks. Under 18 years $2, which includes 2 complimentary non-alcoholic drinks. 12 DAIRY ALL BREEDS FUTURITY CLASSES JUDGE: TBD Free Entry Prizemoney: Sponsored ribbons and prizemoney. COMMENCES: Will be judged on farm 24 th & 25 th October Class 1597 HEIFER IN MILK, 2 years old. Heifers need to have been purchases in 2016 Futurity sale. PHOTO COMPETITION FOR 2017 PURCHASED YEARLINGS This will be a photo competition as it is too difficult to travel to all Futurity Class yearlings on farm. Exhibitors are asked to submit one 5 x 7 photo of their yearling. Photo is to be taken by a non-professional photographer. Placings will be announced at the Waikato Show immediately after the Futurity 2 year old on-farm winners are announced.

13 NEXT GENERATION SALE, VIDEO SALE ALL BREEDS DAIRY AUCTION Supporting Youth members of all Dairy Breed Associations Saturday 27 th October 7.30pm Held in conjunction with Waikato A&P Show. Breeders are invited to submit a Heifer calf born from the 1 st June Sale is unreserved and restricted to a maximum of 25 Lots CRITERIA: To be eligible Heifer calves must be Of excellent dairy type/show quality Minimum 3 generations of full recorded ancestry Registered with a breed society Eligible to be shown under the rules governed by individual breed societies Halter trained Only spring born heifer calves sold at the Next Generation Sale are eligible for Futurity classes held at Waikato show and NZDE. Submissions must be on an official application form Purchasers are required to pay $100 above purchase price. This money is inclusive of entry fees for all Futurity classes. Revenue goes towards a prize pool for the Futurity 2yr old in milk classes in 2019/21 show season. 14 FUTURITY CLASSES Futurity classes will be run under the General rules of the Dairy Cattle Sections governed by both Waikato A & P Show and New Zealand Dairy Event In addition to the General rules governed by both Waikato A & P Show and New Zealand Dairy Event the following rules shall apply to Calf, Yearling heifer and 2 year old in milk Futurity classes. 1. Only Spring born heifer calves born from the 1 st June 2017 purchased at the NEXT Generation Sale are eligible to enter. 2. A one off entry fee of $100 per animal paid by the purchaser at time of the Next Generation sale, revenue generated from the sale and any additional money from donors received on the day of the Next Generation Sale will be held secure in a BNZ term deposit. Final 2 year old in milk Futurity classes will be held in October 2020 at Waikato A & P Show & January 2020 at NZ Dairy Event. The monies generated at the Next Generation Sale in 2018 will become the prize pool for the in milk 2 year old Futurity classes. The prize pool will be equally divided between Waikato A & P Show and New Zealand Dairy Event. 3. All in milk 2 year olds exhibited in the 2 year old in milk Futurity class will receive a percentage of the prize pool. Allocated percentages of winnings in order of placing. 4. Whereby calf and yearling futurity classes have been sponsored then the sponsored prizes/monies shall be paid to the said class. 5. Whereby calf and yearling classes have been sponsored by the Breed Associations in the form of cash or prize of any kind payable to the youth handler, then that cash or prize shall remain the property of the youth handler it has been awarded to. 6. Ribbons will be placed 1 st 6 th for Futurity calf, yearling and 2 year old in milk classes. 7. All calves, yearling s & in milk 2 year olds must be paraded by persons who were aged 25 years and under on the day the animal was purchased as a calf at the NEXT Generation Sale. 8. Failing the nominated youth handler being unable to exhibit the calf, yearling or in milk 2 year old, another youth handler may be nominated. Notification of the change must be given to the Chief Steward prior to the calf, heifer or in milk 2 year old entering the ring. 9. Proof of age of any youth handler may be requested from time to time by the Ring Steward 10. Any additional fees imposed by both Waikato A & P Show & New Zealand Dairy Event or levies collected for a third party remain the responsibility of the owner. 11. Rules should be read in conjunction with the Next Generation Sale rules 12. The Organising Committee reserves the right to review and amend the rules at any time. 15 RULES FOR THE NEXT GENERATION SALE The Next Generation sale will be held in accordance with General Cattle Sale Terms and Conditions. In addition to the General rules the following shall apply. 1. Only Spring born heifer calves born from the 1 st June 2018 are eligible to be sold in the Futurity section of the Next Generation sale catalogue. Must not have been shown in any breed section at an A & P Show prior to cataloguing. 2. Autumn born calves and Yearling heifers will be considered for cataloguing under special entry. Autumn born calves & yearling heifers sold at the Next Generation sale are ineligible for Futurity classes. 3. All Spring calves, Autumn calves and Yearlings heifers put forward for the Next Generation sale must be of : *excellent dairy type/show quality *have a minimum 3GP *registered with a breed society *eligible to be shown under rules governed by individual breed societies *halter trained *clipped 4. The purchaser of Futurity lots shall pay in addition to the purchase price, an additional one off entry fee of $100. This gives automatic entry into all Futurity calf, yearling & 2 year old in milk classes to be held at Waikato A & P Show and NZ Dairy Event. It however does not give entry into breed classes or all breed classes held by either Waikato Show or NZ Dairy Event. Cost to enter classes that are not Futurity classes remain the responsibility of the owner. 5. The one off entry fee of $100 paid in addition to the purchase price is non-refundable including, in the event of, death, sickness, injury, disease, failure to become pregnant or anything not aforementioned which may prevent your animal from being exhibited. Please see General Sale Terms and Conditions. 6. Special Entries are not eligible for Futurity classes. Purchasers of special entries are not required to pay $100 in addition to the purchase price 7. Registered buyers if over 25 years at the time of registering must nominate a youth handler to exhibit their purchase in Next Generation futurity classes 8. A purchase of a calf at the Next Generation sale is your commitment to youth until the final class held at NZ Dairy Event when the animal is 2 or if the animal is withdrawn from exhibition. See Rule #6 9. If your nominated youth is unable to meet his or her obligations another youth can be nominated. Please see rules for Futurity classes 10. Rules should be read in conjunction with the Futurity class rules. 11. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to review and make amendments to the rules at any time.
