5 Raced from the age of two at Pyatygorsk, the track near Tersk, Sambist went on to win all five of the Russian Classics: The Russian Derby, The St. Ledger, The Comparison, The Great Sprintersky and The Name of the USSR Proschalnij. Sambist continued to race very successfully in Sheikh Abdullah s famous maroon and white colours, both in the Midle East and Europe. Sambist is the only horse ever to win the Long Distance Championships at Goodwood twice, over 2 miles 4 furlongs in 1993 and So, as UK Champion Stayer, he retired sound and has stayed sound ever since. She recalls I first saw Sambist when I went to Europe to visit HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani s stud, Umm Qam Farm in the UK. I was looking for a cross for my Remington Steele *++ daughters. She recalls Sambist was the most correct stallion, leg and hoof-wise I have ever seen. Later, I found out sambist was famous all over Europe for beig the most correct and most sound Arabian Racing Stallion. Sambists s pedigree is filled with champion race horses. I am so pleased that Sambist now belongs to my friend and partner, Anne Brown at Gadebrook Stud in England. II Damb Much, stallion son of Sambist in the USA, owned by Patti Bailey. Trained and ridden by International Endurance Champion Becky Hart The Sambist son that Patti has retained, II Damb Much (out of a Monogramm daughter) is a big, powerful, solid, impressive bay who trots dead level barefoot.
