Rules and Regulations: General Rules and Regulations apply to this division as well as those rules listed below. 2.. The Llama Show is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Llama and Alpaca Association (RMLA) and sanctioned by the Alpaca and Llama Show Association, Inc. (ALSA). All rules and guidelines for this show will be in accordance with ALSA. For ALSA membership information, contact the ALSA Office, Cypress, TX at 3. This show is open to all Llama enthusiasts who wish to exhibit llamas. 4. Prior to making entries, all Participants are required to be familiar with the show rules, regulations and related information. 5. All Llamas must be at least five (5) months old. This rule also applies to Get-of-Sire and Produce-of-Dam classes. 6. All animals in performance classes must be at least 12 months old. All Llamas entered in approved halter and performance classes must be registered or have passed screening with the ILR or the CLRC. Copies of ILR registration paper must be mailed with entry. No Llama or Alpaca will be checked in without the copies of the Certificate. 7. Llamas may not be moved from one (1) Halter Class to another except at the discretion of the judge. 8. Llama Show stalls are limited. Stalls will be assigned by the Show Superintendent on a first come first serve basis by date of United States, Canadian or International Postal Service postmark (no postage meters accepted). Stalling requests will be honored as much as possible. Tack stalls are also paid. 9. Health Certificate: All Llamas must have an official health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian in the state of origin, within thirty (30) days prior to the date of the show. This certificate must be available upon request by animal health officials or show superintendents. All Llamas must be accompanied by a certificate of treatment for scabies within thirty (30) days prior to date of show. In addition, all Llamas must show a negative PI test for BVD. See Health Requirements. 10. Only those Llama entered in the show are permitted on grounds. 11. Fees: All fees must accompany entries, no exceptions. a. Entry fee: HALTER - Fifteen dollars ($15.00) per animal per class. PERFOR- MANCE - Fifteen dollars ($15.00) per animal per class (all Llamas MUST be at leat 5 months old). SHOWMANSHIP - Fifteen dollars ($15.00) per exhibitor per class. WALKING FIBER fifteen dollars ($15.00) SHORN FLEECE - Five dollars ($5.00) per fleece. ALSA Fee Fleece ($3.00) per entry if the animal is not concurrently entered in a non-fiber class at the same show ALSA fee - five dollars ($5.00) per animal. Non-member ALSA Farm Fee fifty dollars ($50.00) plus five dollars ($5.00) per animal. Participant (owner/exhibitor) pass is required, one (1) per owner/exhibitor per show. 174
2 b. YOUTH - Twenty dollars ($20.00) per youth. (Youth eighteen (18) years old and under as of (January 1, 2018). c. Stall Fee: Thirtyfive dollars ($35.00) per stall. Stalls are 8 x 8 x 5. Participants discretion as to number of animals per stall. d. Parking Permits and Participant (owner/exhibitor) Passes. Refer to Fees on entry form. e. No Commercial Sales in the barn unless a prior approved vendor. 12. Entry forms: Use the entry form inserted in this premium list or enter online at Produce-of-Dam and Get-of-Sire animals must be entered in individual classes in order to compete in any group classes. No fee for group classes. 14. Ribbons will be awarded to the top eight (8) places. 15. This is a premium payout show based on a sliding scale. Produce may be represented by offspring of either sex. All produce must be shown in their appropriate halter class age division. There must be only one (1) entry per dam. The dam will not be shown in this class. The entry is made in the name of the dam. The produce and the respective sires must also be listed on the entry form. Get-of-Sire: Each entry must include three (3) offspring by the same sire. Get may be represented by offspring of either sex. All Get must be shown in their appropriate halter class age division. Get must represent offspring by at least two different dams. There must be only one entry per sire. The Sire will not be shown in this class. The entry is made in the name of the Sire. The Get and the respective Dams must also be listed on the entry form. 176
4 SHORN FLEECE CLASSES: L-78 Single Coat 24 months and under L-79 Single Coat 25 months and over L-80 Double Coat 24 months and under L-81 Double Coat 25 months and over L-82 Suri 24 months and under L-83 Suri 25 months and over Shorn Fleece: While this will be a ALSA sanctioned class we will follow the ALSA criteria for Shorn Fleece judging. No premiums will be offered for this division. With each fleece entry shall be submitted in a clear plastic bag with a completed entry tag. Entry tags are avialable to download from the ALSA website. Entry tag shall include: class (based on age at time of shearing), llama date of birth, gender, date of shearing, date of previous shearing, growth time (months) and owner identification. Acceptable Fleeces: shall be sheared (not brushed) from the animal; consist of prime fiber (from either the full blanket or barrel); sheared within 2 years of submission; have lock structure intact; be skirted and handpicked; and SHALL NOT have: insects or parasite infestation; stress breaks; excessive vegetation; guard hairs removed; be washed after shearing; have crème rinse or other chemicals applied prior to or after shearing. Indicate number of shorn fleece entries along with appropriate fees on registration form. ALSA Fleece Fee $3.00 per fleece No premiums will be offered for the Shorn Fleece Divisions OPTIONAL entries can be designated for Silent Auction (indicate at check-in). WALKING FIBER CLASSES L-72 Single Coat 24 months and under L-73 Single Coat 25 months and over L-74 Double Coat 24 months and under L-75 Double Coat 25 months and over L-76 Suri 24 months and under L-77 Suri 25 months and over Walking Fiber: This an ALSA sanctioned class and will follow the ALSA criteria for Walking Fiber judging. No premiums will be offered for this division. The exhibitor will bring their llama(s) to be judged during the designated time period. A judge will evaluate each llama s fleece and discuss with the owner/exhibitor while completing the Walking Fiber Class Score card. 177
5 LLAMA SLIDING SCALE PREMIUM LIST Premium payout includes ten ($10) dollars of entry fee plus five ($5) dollars for each entry added by the National Western Stock Show in classes with five (5) entries or more. Classes with four (4) entries or less, payout will include entry fees only. Premiums paid up to a maximum of 20 animals. Premiums for Performance and Halter classes. ENTRY N.W. LLAMAS FEE ADDED TOTAL $ $200 $100 $ Ribbons will be awarded to top eight (8) places. Banners will be awarded to Champion and Reserve Champion. Descriptions: Oral reasons will be left up to the judge's descretion and time allowed. The following wool classes will be used for ALSA and halter classes and the judging will be performed simultaneously: Light Wool: Minimal body wool, short neck wool with smooth head, ears and legs. Medium Wool: Moderate to long body wool, minimal to moderate neck wool, smooth to moderate head and leg wool. Heavy Wool: Abundant body and neck wool with minimal to abundant head and leg wool, ie; wool at least to knee and hock. Breeder Halter Divisions: Juvenile - 5 through 12 months; Yearling - 13 through 24 months; Two- Year-Old - 25 through 36 months; Adult - 37 months and older. Non-Breeder Halter Classes: Two-Year-Old - 25 through 36 months; Adult - 37 months and older. Youth Divisions: All ages are as of January 1, All points go to the youth and not the Llama. Youth 8 through 18 years of age may show intact males. It is recommended that Youth 8 through 12 years of age not show intact males over 24 months of age. Juniors: 8 years through 10 years of age. Intermediate: 11 years through 13 years of age. Senior: 14 years through 18 years of age. Single Show in Halter & Performance (ALSA sanctioned) 178
