Separate Youth Alpaca classes will only be offered if warranted by the number of entries received. ILR, CLCR or ARI Registration: Exhibitors must be the registered owners and make entry in the exact names (owner and animal) as shown on the registration certificate or have a Permission To Show form from the registered owners. All animals entered in ALSA approved classes, with the exception of youth classes, must be registered or have passed screening with the International Lama Registry (ILR), the Canadian Livestock Record Corporation (CLCR) or the Alpaca Registry, Inc.. If nonbreeder animals are not registered and wish to be in the ALSA award system and wish to show in halter, they must show in the adult non-breeder halter class. If evidence of gelding is not visible, non breeder animals must be accompanied by a registration or veterinarian certificate verifying the animal is a gelding, vasectomized male, or a spayed or non-reproductive female. Copies of the registration certificates must be sent to the show with the entry form. All animals must be at least five (5) months old. This rule also applies to Get of Sire and Produce of Dam classes. The date for determining an animal's age is May 17 for the Grand Mesa Show and May 18 for the Kokopelli Show. All llamas should be entered in their appropriate wool divisions, as defined in Part I, Section 1 A of the ALSA Handbook. All alpacas should be entered in their appropriate wool divisions, as defined in Part K of the ALSA Handbook. An animal's wool division may not be changed after entry unless moved by the Grand Mesa halter judge on Saturday. Once moved by the Grand Mesa halter judge, the animal will remain in that wool division for the Kokopelli show on Sunday. Some wool divisions may be combined depending on the number of entries received. If show management determines it will be in the best interests of the exhibitors to combine divisions, an announcement will be made at the exhibitors meeting. Alpaca Halter Classes will be limited to the first 25 entries received. Since this is the first time we are offering these classes, we will not have separate color groups, but will have Shorn Huacaya and Suri divisions. Males and females will be shown separately in three age divisions. There will be one Non-Breeder class not divided by age. Performance Llamas: Llamas may only be in One Performance Division llamas showing in the Youth Division may not show in the Novice, Advanced or Master Divisions. The Novice Division is open to all llamas that have never entered an Advanced class and/or that have not earned a Novice Performance Champion. The Advanced Division is open to all llamas that have not achieved Advanced Performance Champion. The Master Division is for all animals that have completed the requirements for an ALSA Advanced Performance Champion. (See Part G, Section 4 of the ALSA Handbook.) Health Certificates and Inspections: Health Certificates are not required for animals from Colorado. All out of state animals must be accompanied by a health certificate issued by an accredited veterinarian in the state of origin and indicating that the animals are free from signs of infectious or contagious diseases and have been treated for scabies within 21 days prior to entry into Colorado. A health inspection of all animals will be conducted at check-in and prior to stalling. All livestock showing evidence of infectious, contagious or communicable diseases must be immediately withdrawn from the show and removed from the grounds, along with all animals with which they were trailered or stalled. Amigo Animal Clinic will be our On Call Veterinarian Office, Exhibitors are encouraged to practice bio-security and keep animals entered in the shows away from the rest of their herds for at least 14 days both before and after the shows.

4 Fiber Entries: Walking Fiber, Shorn Fleece, Fashion Lead and Fiber Showcase Classes will be judged during the Grand Mesa Llama Classic Show only and the results announced on Sunday. We will not be offering a double judge for the Fiber Entries. This is an ALSA certified fleece show and judging will follow the criteria of the current ALSA Handbook. Walking Fiber: This class is designed as an opportunity to have fiber judged on the animal. Conducted as a halter class, it will be judged by an ALSA fiber judge. Fiber will be the only aspect considered. Each animal s fiber will be evaluated on its own merits Shorn fleece entries must be checked in on Friday May 16, 2014 by 7:00pm at the fairgrounds or may be mailed to the show superintendent so that they are received no later than May 15, Please use appropriate mailing containers to protect the fleece and include a return address label and postage. Fashion Lead: This is a non-alsa class designed to show the finished product uses of lama fiber. Exhibitors will enter a llama or alpaca and a garment or other item that is made from the fiber of that animal. The garment does not have to have been personally made by the exhibitor, but the fiber content must be at least 50% from the animal entered. Fiber Showcase: This is a non-alsa class for hand-crafted items made of at least 60 % llama or alpaca fiber. Fiber can be from one or more animals, but must be produced in the USA. Exhibitor does not have to have personally made the item as long as it hand made and not commercially or mass produced. A Versatility Championship Award will be presented to the lama which earns the most points based upon its placings in Halter, Fiber and Performance Classes during the Grand Mesa show.
